Chapter 931: It Blocks Aura?
Chapter 931: It Blocks Aura?
Now then, Cooldra joined the battle. Although I don’t need a ride during battle, having it is fine as well even if the ride is slower than my usual ride, Ray.
Because Cooldra is strong. Not as strong as Spot, but he’s still strong enough to stand against a few master level mages. So while he’s fighting, I can observe the battle from his back.
Though because I told him to fight with his body, he moves around a lot. But that’s not a problem with me.
There’s only one problem I have right now. The lack of mana.
I have used magic many times today. From using air magic that makes the cult members fight against each others, to opening a lot of huge portals for the dragons to push the floating island to.
Spending that much mana could be disadvantageous in a battle even if we have a huge amount of mana potions in our possession. It’s because if we drank too much mana potions, the more we drank in a day, the less effective it will be.
Let’s say that I have 100 mana. I used 80 so I only have 20 left. But when I drink mana potions, it will probably increase to around 95. Then I used magic again, and when I drank mana potion again, it will increase to around 90. It won’t increase any higher than that.
So, the more I drink mana potions, the lower the limit of the mana I can have. Until finally, the mana potions won’t work anymore.
The only way to be able to recover mana back to 100 again is to rest. Sleep is the best way for it.
And after sleeping, when you drink mana potion again, the limit will return back to normal. But that’s only when I rested enough.
So right now, after I spend so much mana and drink a lot of mana potions, I only have around 30% of my usual mana that I possessed in me and I can’t increase my mana with the potion anymore.. I need to save enough mana for later when I have to go to the valley again.
30%, huh? I guess I can’t use magic again to make the cult members kill each other. But for now, the previous magic that I used is still effective as some of the enemies were still killing each others. Should I kill them now? Or maybe later since they are a bit helpful in this situation?
I’ll just do it later. Those who still have their rationality are the most dangerous. I’ll just get the reinforcement and the monsters to not get close to that area. Though some smart wind mages who noticed that it was air magic used their wind magic to disperse the gases I spread.
That’s fine. But I’ll just kill them now.
Now that magic is reserved, I have to go all out with my sword.
"Cooldra, listen to what she says. She’s my friend," I said to Cooldra as I introduced him to Veronica.
"His name is Cooldra?" Veronica asked.
"He’s an Ice Dragon," I said before I jumped from Cooldra’s back and started fighting on my own.
Veronica was next to me after Cooldra’s first ice dragon breath attack. Unfortunately, it didn’t do much to the Archbishop.
I’d like to fight the Archishop, but I can tell that we are still being overpowered right now. So I need to help the others first. Except for the werewolves as they prefer to fight by themselves or working together with other werewolves. But that’s fine. They are stronger together.
It took at least a group of five mages from the army to kill just one enemy. And after just one fight, it’s not rare to see that one of the five would be either injured badly, or even dead.
This is war. It’s still not over, so the more battle we have, the more likely we will lose. Because we’re not that strong yet. And who knows how long the cult have been cultivating their talented individuals?
I really need to bring a lot of people to the Spirit Mountain right away. Even if I can’t have too many people there, I will ask the Spirit King to lend us some spirits who are willing to go out of the mountain and help us improve our magic.
But that’s for later. For not, let’s kill these mages.
While the army needs five people to kill one mage, I just need myself to kill five of them at once. And I will keep on going until the others can take care of themselves.
The Archbishop was busy with the teamwork of Veronica and the Ice Dragon. They just met as Veronica rarely goes to Monsters World. But they know their roles.
While the Ice Dragon used his body to fight, with his claws, legs, tails, and even fangs, Veronica attacked from distance. Though so far, the Archbishop is still fine.
Even though he’s fine, it’s not like he could cast any magic freely. It’s Veronica’s duty to make sure that the Archbishop won’t be able to concentrate enough to cast his magic.
So it’s up to his stamina. How long can he stand? Though I don’t think his stamina is better than a dragon.
"You killed my father!" Cooldra shouted.
"I don’t even know your father!" the Archbishop replied.
I’m the one who killed the Ice Dragon King though. Well, the reason I killed him was because of the cult. So Cooldra was not wrong.
Even though the Archbishop couldn’t do much, he could still observe the situation. And I’m sure he can tell that their plan is ruined.
Even if some people managed to get to the capital and destroyed something, it’s impossible for them to destroy everything.
It’s should be a surprise attack. But we managed to get prepared so quickly thanks to me. So I’m sure he knew that his plan to destroy the capital of Varadis will be another failure.
"Forget about the plan! That Aura user! No matter what, someone have to kill him!" the Archbishop shouted. And he used wind magic to spread his voice all over the battlefield as well.
Well, now I became their number one enemy. But that’s already been decided from the start though.
Now all of them were looking for me. And for the members of our army who are smart enough, they should know already that I would be the main target of the cult. So they calmly waited for their opponent to let down their guard as they were looking for me and killed them in that moment.
But that’s not everyone. So I still have to fight a lot of them.
Some of the enemies even helped the Archbishop now. So it’s impossible for Cooldra and Veronica to focus on the Archbishop alone.
The Archbishop also said something to them. and they started to leave to different location at once. He must be telling them to retreat and inform someone about me.
Though I still wonder about something. Why didn’t he opened his portal to escape from this place? Is it because he has spend too much mana?
I don’t think that’s the case. Because he’s still blocking Veronica’s magic with his barrier. So I’m sure that he still have enough mana to do something.
I swiftly cut through everyone because I’m afraid that the Archbishop still has something under his sleeve. Something that he has his confidence in either to kill us or escape from this place. So I have to stop him.
I cut the neck of another wind mage blocking my way as I finally reached where the Archbishop is. Only for my slash to be blocked by... a staff?
"Heh, you might be surprised about this. This is a staff made of Etherstone! A material that block the usage of Aura on whatever touches it! So not even your sword filled with Aura can break this staff!" the Archbishop said confidently.
Etherstone? First time I’ve heard about it. I’ll ask Victoria later.
But seriously, there’s something that can block Aura? Well, there’s something that can block magic. So it’s shouldn’t be surprising that there’s something that can be used to block Aura as well.
I can feel that the Aura I used on the sword from the sword-cane is unable to be used. I can still use Aura, but only on the sword, I can’t. So I guess it’s still doesn’t work on me who is holding the sword. But it’s working on the sword.
And I’m strong. Stronger than master level mages. and this sword was made by the Blacksmith. It should be strong enough to cut through a normal steel even if I’m not using Aura. But that Etherstone staff is so strong.
"Heh, if the weapon is strong, then it’s all depend on the owner of the weapon! I’m still the stronger one!" I shouted as I put more power to swing down my sword.
The Archbishop was blocking my attack with his hands holding the staff. But I’m still stronger. So he got pushed down.
Though he could still use magic, so I had to step back.
I guess this is much harder than I expected. To capture him without killing.
"Roy, behind you!"
Veronica shouted a warning from above as someone tried to attack me from behind. So I dodged it easily.
Still, I also have to fight so many people? I really need to get everyone stronger so I don’t have to face this situation again.
Now, how do I defeat the Archbishop without killing him and take him away without getting killed?
