Chapter 893: Surprise Guest Before Returning to the Past

Victoria, Shirley, and the Spirit King were still watching the illusion. There were also some other spirits including the one who gave Roy the task to climb the mountain there. But they didn’t really care about someone’s past. So they just left and play around with other spirits in the flower garden.

Sonia, Airy, and Breezy were all still sleeping. But the Spirit King has stopped using illusion magic for a while already. He thought that there’s no need to do that since he’s already willing to help Roy with his cause after watching his past for a bit.

So right now, Sonia, Airy, and Breezy were not inside an illusion. There’s no more things that they wanted to see. It’s just a dream now and no longer an illusion.

But the dream is too good for them to leave. So they will still continue sleeping for a while longer. Though they will wake up sooner and later.

While watching Roy’s past, the Spirit King told Shirley about this. She just nodded hearing that.

"We all already decided to help Roy. Even if they wake up, what we need to do won’t change. Though it might be a bit louder than before since Sonia will ask about many things. As for Airy, she will be quiet. And Breezy will probably go out there and play with other spirits," Shirley said.

"You really knew each other well. Though I wonder what is that thing in your pocket. The ghost and Roy also have it. Though Roy has two of them. I felt some sort of magic there even though you’re not using them," the Spirit King asked.

What he was asking about was the phone in their possession. With Roy having two of them since he also has Victoria’s phone.

Shirley took out her phone from the pocket and showed it to the Spirit King.

"It’s an invention created with the help of the greatest mind and knowledge of another world. It help us communicate with other people from far away. They must be asking us how we’re doing since it has been a while since we started our climb. Though I won’t check it for now as watching Roy’s past is more important. But if the ghost wakes up, we can get her to inform the others what we’re doing right now," Shirley said.

Sonia can use her phone or just teleport to other people’s location and tell them what happened here. While Shirley and even Victoria, prefer to focus on watching Roy’s past. Though for Victoria, she also sculpted some things that she saw in the illusion using her clones.

That’s also her way to focus on Roy’s past. Because if she didn’t do anything an get bored of it, she might lost her focus. And even though it won’t happen, she’s afraid that the heads she created using her clones will disappear or deformed.

"I see. Then let’s just continue watching. If the ghost wakes up, do you think that she wanted to watch the illusion?" the Spirit King asked.

"Most likely. Though if we ask her to deliver a message, she will probably do that. After all, we have watched the illusion long enough that we will watch how Roy died soon. Then we will watch the past that we already know. So I think Sonia will be fine if we skip that. But let’s just leave her be until she wakes up on her own. I don’t think I have ever seen Sonia sleep since she’s a ghost," Shirley said.

And so, until Sonia wakes up naturally, there won’t be any contact with the outside. Albert and the others can only worry about those who climbed and will not receive any reports for a while.

Of course Albert and the others will think of the worst. But they can only wait patiently. Even when Roy climbed slowly back then, it took him days. So it should be much longer for Shirley to be able to reach even where Roy was last reached.

And the cult only sent their weakest force it seems. Thanks to Rot changing the past, we are stronger now. But the cult will send their stronger force as well. That’s why it’s hard to see the end of this war," Shirley said.

"Look. That’s the tamer whose monster killed Roy in the past. We killed him early in this life, so it’s good. But we will also see Roy die soon," Victoria said.

The man whom Roy killed early after returning to the past was there. Victoria remembered him because Roy said it to her back then. Even though she couldn’t communicate freely back then, she could still hear everything Roy said back then. Including how Roy was killed by that man’s tamed monster.

The monster then killed Roy. Everything was clear for Victoria and Shirley to see as they bit their lips so hard they started to bleed. Just Shirley’s.

"Wait, what’s that?!" Victoria said as she saw something in Roy’s death before he lost his consciousness completely.

There, Roy’s head whose consciousness started to fade was covered with a black liquid. It was Blobby. The Black Slime then entered Roy’s head.

"Is that the magic used to return back to the past?" Shirley asked.

"No. They should only returned Roy back to the past after the cult started destroying the world. So it shouldn’t be the time yet," Victoria said.

"But it’s all black right now. And Roy’s next life hasn’t started yet. What does it mean?" Shirley asked the only one who should know what happened. The Spirit King.

"...It means that he’s not really dead. My guess is that after he died, his familiar, the Black Slime, recovered its personality if what you told me before is true. Then the Black Slime made it so Roy’s brain was still functioning. If it’s true that he will only be returned back to the past after a long time, then we will only see this black scene for a long time. For now, I will fast-forward the illusion until something happened," the Spirit King said.

Even after the illusion became faster, it was still all dark for a few hours in real time. But soon after, they heard a familiar voice.

"You want to bring this guy’s memory back to the past? Taking his brain and memory to his past’s body so he could remember about this life?"

It’s the voice of someone familiar not only to Victoria and Shirley. But also the Spirit King as well. Because it was his own voice.

"Wait, that’s my voice! It’s dark so we couldn’t see anything. But that’s should be my voice! So I met Roy in the past life? And I only met him after he died? Did the Black Slime brought only his brain to me?" the Spirit King asked.

No one could see what happened, but that’s right. The Black Slime, or Javier and the others to be exact, were looking for the Spirit King for help in returning Roy back to the past.

Please help us take this brain and memory of the person who had this brain to the past with your magic and mine. I will also send back Victoria so she could guide him. Even if Victoria’s memory is erased, she knows things that most of us don’t. So we have to get these two together. And I can’t do it on my own. So I need your help," Javier in the illusion said.

"How come we couldn’t see anything but we could hear them? It should only just brain. There’s shouldn’t even be an ear there," Shirley asked.

"I think we talked with telepathy. I’m the Spirit King, so I can do that. In fact, I can do almost everything. Except to harm humans directly. That’s why I only used illusion magic on you guys," the Spirit King said. This time, he spoke using telepathy right to Shirley’s and Victoria’s mind.

"So we returned back to the past with your help?" Victoria asked.

"I’m also shocked to hear that. But it’s not over yet. Let’s watch it for a little longer," the Spirit King said.

Then in the dark space, the Spirit King and Javier continued talking.

"According to the story you told me, he’s a weak idiot. What make you think that he can change the future?" the Spirit King in the illusion asked.

"He might be weak and he might be an idiot. But he’s the weak idiot who learned from his mistakes. If we could bring his memory back to the past, I’m sure he will learn something from his death. And if he has Victoria, he could get even stronger. Then I’m sure that he will ask for help since he learned that he couldn’t do everything alone. The rest is up to him to convince other people to fight with him," Javier said.

"So you’re not bringing them to the past to fight alone. But so he can ask for help?" the Spirit King asked.

"Yes. After all, they are not something that one person can fight alone. Can you help me bring him to the past?" Javier asked.

"Well, I can only try. And while we’re at it, I will try to see if he could awaken another element of his. It will be a great help for him no matter how weak that element is.
