Chapter 888: Roy’s Ordinary Life
Chapter 888: Roy’s Ordinary Life
The illusion continued with how diligent Roy was in studying medicine. From reading all the books about medicine in the medical school, to asking doctors about how to operate a certain type of disease. Of course at that time, many diseases were still had no cure yet. They had not been discovered yet.
"...If we saw everything like this, we might end up becoming doctors as well," Victoria said.
"I wonder how he could easily remember all of that? He could remember the names of all those diseases and medicines. But he couldn’t even remember people’s names easily," Shirley asked.
"We’ve seen how he studied. While the others only need to read once or twice, he needed to read them five times or more to remember everything. Even after learning all that, he barely passed the exam. He’s just an ordinary guy among any ordinary guys. Maybe he’s even below average since he needed so much effort just to keep up with other ordinary guys," Victoria said.
Just as they said, Roy is not just an ordinary man. He’s below average. And he needed more effort than other people to get the same thing.
In fact, even after that much effort, he still only barely keep up with the others. And he needed several more years of studying until he could became a surgeon.
"...He’s truly below average. I have already almost memorized everything he learned after he read them the second time, but he still read those books a few more times only to get barely passed grade to pass the exam. He’s stupid," Shirley said.
"He’s your brother. Don’t just call him stupid," Victoria said.
"But he is stupid. If he didn’t get the power to use Aura, then he won’t become anything at all. That’s a fact. He’s my brother and I feel sorry for him," Shirley said.
"And if he’s not an Aura user, then Javier, me, and the others inside the Black Slime wouldn’t pick him to return to the past. Though if other people was the one who made a contract with the Black Slime, and could even learn Aura, then I guess the war would be over already by this time. Roy was just... fortunate and unfortunate at the same time," Victoria said.
"You’re right. At least if it’s not for him, all those things that happened to Melk in his past life would happen already. Though he’s way too ignorant about other things. He didn’t even know that other cities experienced the same thing that happened in Melk until much later. As his older sister, maybe I should teach him about the things that a royalty needed to know. He’s a prince after all," Shirley said.
"No need for that. Whether he’s lucky or not in his past life, we know that in this life, he put in much more effort and managed to do many things. Including becoming the king of the werewolves, angels, elves, weretigers, centaurs, and crab people. If you say to him that he needs to learn the way of a prince, he will complain saying that it’s a demotion for him from a king to a prince," Victoria said.
"I guess you’re right. I can’t believe that he’s my brother. Half-brother. And knowing Roy, he won’t even care about that," Shirley said.
In the illusion, Roy finally managed to be a surgeon after many years of studying. And he managed to get a job in the hospital in Cassau.
But that’s just for a moment because most of the newly-newly hired doctors had connection with the higher-ups in the hospital. And they hired Roy only to be used as an example of a bad doctor. Though he was not bad at all. But everyone isolated him until they blamed him for a failure in operation that he didn’t even do so he got fired.
"Did he not care at all about that in this life?" Shirley asked.
"Or that he forgot. Whatever the case, everything is good now. Maybe because he has people he can trust now. Like Albert. He believed that Albert will make the country better. So Roy doesn’t need to care about other things. We can see that obviously from how the hospital accepted Sophie and she even became their best doctor even though she was a prostitute," Victoria said.
"Yeah. And I think that Albert caught some of those doctors in this life for corruption. I was the one who arrested some of them. They should still be in prison," Shirley said.
"Should I make their head with my clones then?" Victoria asked.
"No need. There’s no need to waste more space by creating the head of the people who are already in prison. That man, and that man, and that woman. No need to make their heads," Shirley said as she pointed at the people who have been arrested.
Soon after, Roy left Cassau. He managed to get a job at another hospital in another city. Then he learned that Cassau was attacked by monsters stampede.
Not just that. He also learned that the stampede in Cassau, and also what he experienced in Melk, were happened because the cult arranged it.
It was at this time that he learned the existence of the cult. And the one who spread the news was none other than his first love, Wendy. This was also the time that he learned that Wendy was an agent even when she started her teaching job in Melk.
"Hmm... I think there are too many things that Roy skipped when he talked to us about his past. Or maybe he either forgot about it, ot the fact that he hated the cult so much made him think that everything bad that happened is related to the cult. Good thing we learned the truth now," Shirley said.
"Even if we learned the truth, Roy wouldn’t care at all about things other than the cult. Let’s inform everything to Albert and the others during the next meeting. Roy will be there, but he wouldn’t care about the meeting most likely. But I will at least tell him what’s important for him to know," Victoria said.
"Right. And I also didn’t see what I’m curious about i here. I guess the worst thing happened," Shirley said.
"What is it?" Victoria asked.
"Me. There’s no news at all about me even though Roy learned that Alan was born. Which means that I’m most likely already dead. That’s not surprising knowing that the hidden guard of the king was being led by a member of the cult," Shirley said.
"Oh, right. There’s no news at all about you even though we heard that Miguel has formed his own troops to face the cult. There’s no name yet, but they will be called the Flamboyant Mustache Troops. At least it’s great that we know that Miguel has always been loyal to Albert," Victoria said.
In the illusion, Roy who was angry at the cult from hearing the news, also heard about Miguel’s story. But the Roy in the past life couldn’t care less about that.
It’s all thanks to the Spirit King’s power that he could make an illusion of the things that enter Roy’s ears and sight. So the things that even passed his eyes or ears could be seen or heard by the people watching.
Roy then got fired again. He then got another job at a small clinic, but he got fired again. So he decided to move away from the city. Hoping that he could live in peace.
He moved from one place to another because he never managed to go to a place that he liked. Until one day, he got tired of moving so he decided to just stay at a village and became the sole doctor in that village.
"I guess this is where he stayed as a village doctor until he joined the war. He encountered many things in his journey including monsters and bandits. And since he was weak, he created something called Shameless Survival Arts. I guess they really work since he managed to stay alive all this time," Shirley said as she grabbed some snacks because she was hungry.
It has been a few decades after Roy’s past started. So it has been a few hours in reality. And Shirley was hungry. So she started eating already.
"And even though he trained daily, he still didn’t became an Aura user yet. But in this life, he became one rather quickly. I guess because he experienced it once and knew the feeling of using a bit of his Aura, he learned it quickly in this life," Victoria said.
"Then if I trained my body now, will I be able to be an Aura user?" Shirley asked.
"That would be difficult. Because the weaker your magic level is, the easier it is for you to learn Aura. But you have became a master level mage. So it’s nearly impossible. It’s best if you use what you can do instead of learning something new," Victoria said.
"I guess you’re right. I’ll stick with magic then," Shirley said.
Even though the past that was shown considered to be ordinary live of a man, the Spirit King whom they both ignored showed an interest with Roy’s past.
’Ordinary guy? He’s a guy who work hard. I actually like people like him,’ the Spirit King thought.
No one knows that the Spirit King has decided to help them just by looking at Roy’s ordinary life. In fact, Shirley and Victoria has forgotten about it and just focused on the things they could learn from Roy’s past.
Though the only reason that Shirley and Victoria thought of Roy’s hard work as ordinary was because they witnessed everyone, including Roy himself, working harder in this life than the hard work that Roy did in his past life. That’s why for them, it’s just normal days of Roy doing what he could do.
