Chapter 881: Three Climbers and Three Wishes
The spirits gave us a chance for our wish to be granted. And we have three chances. Or three people to try and do it. It means that we can have three wishes to be granted.
"Is it okay for you to give us the task? You just met us today," Kayla asked.
"No worries. The air spirit and wind spirit with you already told us what kind of people you are. You had it rough fighting all this time. So it’s fine for us to give three people among you to complete the task. And if you finish it, the Spirit King will grant you a wish for each person who complete the task," the spirit said.
"Can the Spirit King grant everything?" I asked.
"Well, not everything. But anything within his power, he can grant it to you," the spirit said.
"Okay. Then, I will have a lot to discuss with everyone. I will return back to the mountain with two other people, and we will start climbing again from the bottom," I said.
"Then we will wait from the bottom. This time, no cheating," the spirit said.
Then, after finishing the entire stock of cakes we have, the spirits left through the small portal that I kept open. I can see that Airy is about to cry seeing that all the cakes are gone. But Lina consoled her saying that she will bake more cakes before we return.
"Well then, we will be waiting! Bye-bye!"
The spirits waved their hands before I closed the portal. Then I grabbed the phone in my pocket and put it on my ear.
"Albert, did you hear all of that?" I asked.
"Clearly. Let’s set up a meeting as soon as possible to prepare who else other than you that will take the test, and what we should wish," Albert said.
I looked at Kayla and she also has her phone out. She was calling Lynn. And there’s Wendy who called old man Henry and Candy who called Fabio. Kayla told them to call the kings when she saw me using my phone before to call Albert.
Soon after, all the kings have been contacted. And we had a meeting to prepare two more people who will climb the vertical wall with me.
"Roy is an Aura user. So he can stick his body to the wall. As for the other two, it will be difficult since help is not allowed. Even when the three people gather, I don’t think that helping each other will be allowed," Albert said.
"I want to suggest for Victoria to climb. She’s a monster, but I think it will be fine. Just in case though, we will still need two other people. If Victoria is allowed to attempt the task, then I will return someone back. But if not, then the other guy will climb." I said.
"I agree. To have greater chance to succeed, Victoria is needed. But she will climb on her own. Though since she’s a Black Slime, even without Aura, she should be able to stick herself to the wall," old man Henry agreed with me.
"The wall is high. So someone with great stamina will be needed. And since magic is not allowed, maybe a master level mage will attempt it. And it’s really cold, so it should be someone with ice element as well. Even if they are not allowed to use magic, ice mages already have good enough resistance to cold," I said.
"So, other than Roy, we can’t expect the others will be able to climb. And we need the equipment to climb for the others. I guess we will end up with only having one wish granted. So let’s also figure out what we will ask by priority," Albert said.
The meeting continued. And finally, we have decided the people who will climb the mountain.
First will obviously be me. And second will be Victoria.
The third person will be Shirley since she’s a master level wind mage and an expert level in her ice element. Just in case, I gave her the fishnet stocking.
"Don’t worry, I washed it after I wore it yesterday," I said to her.
Even with her resistance to cold, that doesn’t mean that it will protect her. As for me, I will climb as fast as possible when I started to feel cold. So instead of climbing slowly like yesterday, I will attempt to reach the peak quickly.
I won’t leave Shirley and Victoria behind at first. I will stay with them to watch over them. Though I don’t think I need to watch them. But Albert will be angry if I don’t do it.
"I will be fine. I can fly if I fall," Shirley said.
Then lastly, someone who will climb if they don’t allow Victoria to do it. Kron.
If he’s not injured because he tried to punch a hole on a boulder, he would be picked instead of Shirley. Unfortunately, his fingers were broken.
They can be healed quickly, but as a doctor, I don’t suggest that he climb the mountain as soon as he got healed. So it will be Shirley who climb the wall.
Though if Victoria is allowed to take the test, Kron will ask if he will be allowed to go to the top by flying. He’s close with Breezy, so he might be allowed.
Other than them, Airy will continue staying with me. Though she won’t help me in any way possible.
As for preparation, I will get Victoria to tell me anything needed for Shirley to climb and I will ask the Blacksmith to make them. Though for Victoria and I, I don’t think we need any. But just in case, I will prepare some oxygen tubes to be carried with me because I won’t be able to use air magic.
Well, I don’t think breathing using it is breaking the rule. So it should be fine.
Next are the wishes.
After discussing for a while, we just have two wishes that we need to be granted. With one of them being the priority.
First is the location of the leader of the cult. That is the most important thing we need to know.
Second is the spirits’ help. Just to help us improve our magic level. Not their help with the war. Though if it’s possible, that would be great.
Third is whatever Shirley wanted. That’s all.
Though if possible, I want to wish for the cult’s destruction. But I don’t think it will be possible. Though I will ask the Spirit King after I climb the wall if possible.
For the first two, those are the things that I want the most. As for Victoria, she doesn’t need anything. So she gave me her wish if she can complete the task. For the third wish, Shirley who will climb will be able to ask anything. Though that’s only if she’s able to complete the task.
"I think that’s all. Though if the Spirit King is unable to grant the first wish, then Roy will ask for the second wish while Victoria can ask anything she wants. If that’s all, then let’s finish the meeting right away since they need preparation," Albert said to conclude the meeting.
After that, I brought Victoria, Kron, and Shirley to the Blacksmith and helped him to built the things we need to climb the wall.
"That wall is extremely high. But even though it’s a vertical wall, there are some places where you can grip with your hand. Shirley, for now, you can practice climbing on Victowall. As for Kron, wait until your fingers are healed," I said.
"How about you send me there first? To the bottom of the wall together with Breezy. Then we will ask them if Victoria is allowed to climb or not and if I will be allowed to go to the paradise to wait for you or not. Though if I’m allowed, maybe the second wish won’t be necessary," Kron said.
I agreed with Kron, so I opened a portal to where I marked at the bottom of the mountain. I still had it even though I have climbed so high.
The thing we need to make is not that hard to create. Or maybe it’s because the Blacksmith was just too good. So we’re done quick enough and I told Shirley to get some rest.
We’re back in Cassau to take a nap. Then Kron called saying that he can return now.
"Yes, Victoria is allowed to climb. But I’m not allowed to go to the paradise unless I climb the wall, or it’s the wish of the one who complete the task. So go there quickly and climb the wall!" Kron said.
"Not right now. Shirley is still resting. And Victoria is away for a moment. We will climb the wall tomorrow," I said.
"I see. Good luck then. I will root for you," Kron said before he flew off somewhere.
He’s not with Breezy as Breezy is staying with me instead.
"You’re not staying in the Spirits Paradise?" I asked Breezy.
"No. I’ll go there if you climbed the mountain," Breezy said.
Airy also nodded to her brother’s word. It seems like they both will only go there after I climbed the wall.
"Then I’ll go and ask the earth spirit if he knows anything about the Spirit Paradise. Let’s meet him right away," I said.
We meet the earth spirit, but he said that he doesn’t know anything about any paradise. And when I asked if he want to join us, he refused. Seems like he really won’t leave this island no matter what.
And so, it’s finally the day we climb the mountain. I haven’t even seen the top yet, but I hope I can get there quick because I won’t be wearing the stocking. It will be freaking cold up there.
