Chapter 1162: Underwater Kingdom

South of Tatrama. It has been a day since we raided the headquarter of the hunter guild. And now, I’m with Ray, Victoria, and Crabbe at the beach.

"So we’re looking for the sinking kingdom," Crabbe said.

"Yes. After yesterday, Kayla, Jewel, and some others decided to look for more information about all the places that I need to investigate. Apparently, there was a kingdom here in the past. Probably similar to the kingdom where the Bosses of the pyramid dungeon before. A kingdom that got erased in history. But this kingdom sunk into the water. At least that’s what the legend says," I said to Crabbe.

"Hmm... I don’t really care. But I do think that it’s impossible for land to just sink with the entire kingdom on top of it," Crabbe said.

"I agree with you. But it’s also possible that the kingdom was made by water mages who can split the sea. Or mermaids. At least that’s what Jewel and Victoria said," I said.

"That’s right! This is a fantasy world but I have never seen a mermaid before. I want to see them!" Victoria said.

I guess that’s her reason for coming with us. That’s fine though. With her, I don’t have to worry about using too much Blobbies.

We will dive underwater and search for the kingdom. Crabbe and I will split up. And I, instead of swimming alone, will ride Ray. He’s very fast underwater as well. It’s better that I ride him instead of swimming alone.

"Contact me if you see anything weird," I said to Crabbe.

"Can’t you just bring the entire Crab People here?" Crabbe asked.

"There are fishermen out there in the sea. If they somehow meet you or the others, they will be surprised. Well, they will still be surprised if they see me riding a horse in the sea. Anyway, it’s hard to contact them underwater. But since you’re my familiar, we can communicate with telepathy. And this is not really urgent anyway," I said.

"Well, whatever you say, Master," Crabbe said before he dives into the ocean.

This is south of Tatrama, it’s just a bit far from when I usually dived in the past. If the underwater kingdom is here, it should be farther than where I usually dived to in the past.

"Let’s go as well," I said.

And Ray run on the sea first before reaching where I think I used to dive to before. Then we go a bit farther and Ray started diving.

I think it should be around here where I last dived. I have stopped diving ever since I got so busy with other things. Should I do that again?

Maybe I can just send some Crab People here to do that. Then I won’t have to anymore. We will just build a factory by the ocean where the Crab People will bring all the treasures they found from the sea and I will hire some people to do the rest. Maybe I won’t. It will be Sam who will do it.

I’m not in a hurry for more money. And it’s not like I need to dive anymore with how much I make already now. I’ll just leave all business related stuffs to Sam.

Going deeper and farther into the ocean, I see a lot of huge monsters. But compared to the shark that the Kaiser Whale ate back then, they are nothing. And that’s just the shark. Not the Kaiser Whale.

I think it will take a while. If the kingdom was really sinking in the past, then it could be carried away by the sea. Maybe it got even farther.

I think there should be another continent in this planet. Never goes out there though. Doesn’t really matter.

What if the Kingdom actually closer to that continent? Well, I don’t know what to do.

Maybe I should think more about other continent. What if they have someone stronger than master level mages out there? Then I’m glad that they haven’t done anything to my continent.

But I guess it makes sense if the cult actually hides over there. But if we just go out there without any preparation, we might be considered as the invaders. I’m pretty sure the others have thought about what to do. This is not my job to think about those stuffs. I’m here only to look for the underwater kingdom.

I kill all the fish monsters in the ocean as I dive deeper and farther from Tatrama. Crabbe also constantly reported to me if he found anything.

I won’t go to where he’s going just yet. I’ll wait until her really found something.

Soon after, Crabbe reported to me that he found something that looks like a castle. So I told him to check that place while I go there.

’Are there any mermaids?’ Victoria asked.

’I don’t know. I haven’t seen anyone other than fish,’ Crabbe said.

Riding on Ray, we still need fifteen minutes to go there. I guess Crabbe was really fast underwater to be able to reach that far from us. Or maybe we’re the ones who move too fast.

’That does look like a castle. Crabbe, have you found anything?’ I asked Crabbe once I saw the castle.

’Can’t speak! Busy fighting!’ Crabbe said.

I use my Divine Vision and near the castle, I can see several sharks fighting Crabbe. Each shark is bigger than Crabbe who is already four meters tall.

From the look of it, there are only monsters here. But it looks like there’s no smart monster we can communicate with. No mermaids either.

’What a shame. I guess I won’t meet any mermaids anytime soon,’ Victoria complained telepathically.

’Just turn into a mermaid yourself and see if you can somehow lure one out of their hiding spot,’ I said to her.

And she actually did it.

’Then I’ll start searching on my own,’ Victoria said.

So we split up. Victoria with her mermaid form and I’m still riding Ray.

Crabbe has finished defeating the sharks and we investigate the place on our own. I checked the castle while the others check other places.

I enter the castle and as I could see from the outside with my Divine Vision, the ground at the castle was not there. It turned into a huge tunnel that goes deeper down. And that’s a dungeon.

’There’s a dungeon under the castle. Let’s check the surrounding area first before we enter the dungeon," I said.

I might not have a good investigative skill, but I know when a city was lived by people or not.

The houses and buildings outside the castle look like normal houses. With facilities just like ordinary houses. And there were even some old clothes inside the houses. Looking at the pants, I don’t think they were worn by mermaids. Unless real mermaid actually don’t have fish tail and instead they have legs. But I don’t know.

’Victoria, should I get Sara to come?’ I asked.

’Yes. It’s not like we’re smart enough to tell what happened here,’ Victoria said.

So with Ray, I resurfaced and called Sara to help me. Since she’s a master level air mage, I don’t need to help her with breathing. In fact, she’s the one helping me breathe underwater. Stopping me from using mana on myself.

And she can even make a huge air bubble in the house that we entered so we can talk normally inside. The bubble even followed us so we can move around like in the land.

"Yes, people used to live here. And it’s probably several hundred years ago. What about the castle?" Sara asked.

"The ground floor totally disappeared. But the upper floors are still there," I said.

"Let’s go there then," she said.

So we checked the castle. There’s no document because even if there were any, they would have been destroyed by the current.

"There’s nothing I can find here. But at least the underwater kingdom is true. I guess your first quest is over then," Sara said.

"Good. Then, I want to enter the dungeon. How about you?" I asked Sara.

"I’ll pass. Although I can breathe underwater, the water pressure here is too much for me even though I’m a master level mage. You can enter with Crabbe and the other Crab People," Sara said.

I guess it’s true. Even though she’s a master level mage with great physical ability thanks to her level, we are deep enough for the water pressure to hurt her. And we don’t know what lies in the dungeon. So it’s best to bring the Crab People instead of going with her.

Actually, I want to ask Carmen since she’s a master level water mage. But I don’t think it’s a good idea to go with someone’s wife. Especially when she’s also the former Queen of a kingdom.

She might have helped me yesterday. But I am still not shameless enough to bring her here.

So I opened a portal while we’re still underwater, inside the air bubble that Sara created. I brought the Crab People here before I opened another portal for Sara to go.

"Are you sure you want to be the one reporting this to the guild? I can go there on my own later," I said.

"This way you don’t have to go there to report. I know you’re too lazy for that. But you’re going to need my help in the underground kingdom again, right? Tell me when you want to investigate there," Sara said before she left.

As soon as she left, the air bubble moves to the surface like normal. No more magic used to maintain it so it goes to the surface.

Although I can maintain it, I don’t want to do that. I’m the only one here who needs to breathe. So I don’t have to do that.
