Chapter 1071: Advice as Senior Hunter
"Whoa, congrats! That treasure chest is yours now. Then, we’ll be taking our leave."
The three people are now surrounding the treasure chest. And the living armor, Victoria, is walking to my side as we’re about to leave.
"Wait! You’re not going to rob it from us?"
One of them stopped me and wondering why I didn’t rob it from them.
"I don’t know about you, but I’m a hunter with a reputation. And it’s not a bad reputation. Or at least I think so. That’s why I won’t rob anyone. But if you’re thinking of fighting me, then I will kill you. Are you guys hunters as well?"
I asked those three whether they are hunters or not. And the three of them nodded.
"Then as your senior, I have to show you a good example. Though I said it, it’s not like you can just trust any other hunters you meet in the future. Some of them, even if they have good reputation, might kill you. Especially inside a dungeon. Because no one will be able to find out who kills you guys inside a dungeon. Good luck with the exploration. I have finished looking around the dungeon and will leave now," I said.
"We’ll keep that in mind. Also, can I ask you for a favor? We have another member of our party missing. We were separated after he fell into a trap. If you meet him on the way out, can you tell him to wait for us in the hunter guild? If you don’t meet him, that’s fine."
A missing party member. Going alone. I guess that was the guy from before that I shoo away.
"I might have met someone like that. Tell me how he looks like."

They told me about the guy’s characteristic. Only one of them focused on the treasure chest and looks happy at what he found. After pocketing some of the content, he stores the rest in a bag. Even if they’re in the same party, it’s normal to find someone who is like that.
I heard about the missing guy’s characteristic. And it was indeed the guy from before. But he’s dead now.
So, I need to think of a way to tell them about it. And with my quick thinking, added with Victoria’s story making skill, I just told them about what happened to a guy who looked like that.
"It might be that guy from before, but I’m not really sure," I started thinking with my hand holding my chin.
"You saw him before?!"
"Well, it’s not a good story. I saw a guy who looked like what you said. But he died. There is another party inside this dungeon with four members. And I saw the guy that you mentioned killed by them. Since I didn’t know what happened, I didn’t care and didn’t bother to approach them. But whether or not that guy was your friend, I don’t know. Just be careful about those four people," I said.
The three of them looked angry when I said that. It seems like they’re good friends. One of them is like a thief though.
"Sigh... we’re not sure yet if he’s the person we’re looking for. And thank you for the information."
That one guy is so polite. He’s thanking me for telling him something. He seems like a nice guy.
And his party is filled with good people as they didn’t even bother to try to fight me or thinking to rob me. Well, except for that guy who pocketed some jewelry. But he seems to care more about money than pissing off the wrong guy. I rather like him.
Because of that, I ended up talking with them for quite a bit longer. And we ended up having to meet the party of four.
"Hey, I’m sorry that I talked with you for so long. Because it seems like those four people I mentioned from before is coming here. It might be dangerous," I said.
"If it’s dangerous, then how are you so calm?"
"Because I’m strong."
As soon as I said that, they can finally see a group of four is approaching this place. And soon enough, those four noticed the opened treasure chest that the three had just opened.
"Oh, nice. You found treasure. Now, give what you find to me. Then I will let you live," one of the four people said that.
Why is he threatening us when he’s weak? Why are they weak? Why do they think that they can do that?
Maybe because they have never met anyone stronger than them. Now that I look closely, seems like the guy who just spoke is an expert level mage. And he probably never met any master level mage. So he thinks that he’s the strongest.
It’s common among idiots to think that way. Maybe they think that master level mages will be too busy fighting the cult rather than exploring dungeons.
"That’s our bag! Did you guys kill our friend?!"
Oh, I was right. The guy who was killed was a member of this party. And they looted his items including the bag where he stored the items.
"So he was your friends. In his death, he betrayed you guys and told us to kill your summoner friend over there. How does it feel?" the expert level mage said.
"Excuse me, but this is the first time I’ve met these guys. So the guy who was your friend told you to kill me? Will this be a three way battle then?" I asked the party of three.
"...I apologize. He’s a coward so he did that."
"Should I kill you all or spare you then? I feel regretful that I thought you guys as nice people."
"Do not ignore us!"
As I talked with the party of three, the expert level mage got angry for being ignored. Though I wasn’t really angry.
"Then you two can fight each other. I will leave. I don’t want to get involved with you guys anymore."
I tried to leave. But the companion of the expert level mage blocked me.
"You don’t get to lea—"
Before he could finish his sentence, his head was flying. Victoria killed him without being ordered. She did it on her own will.
’It will be more interesting this way. Now it’s three on three. Unless they’re going to target you,’ Victoria said.
This schemer is just wanted to join the fight. Well, it’s not like they’re strong anyway.
"Do not block my way or I will kill you."
Now, the expert level mage is wary toward the living armor. Though that is not a living armor at all.
"Brother! You dare to kill my brother?!"
Oh, seems like that guy was the expert level mage’s brother. It seems like we will fight them anyway.
"If you want to live, don’t block my path," I just repeated my words. Don’t block me. Or you will be killed. That’s all.
"Don’t ignore us!"
Though in the end, it became a battle between two parties. Three against three. Though the expert level mage is still focuses at me.
Then with his earth magic, he killed one of the three and injured the other two. After that, with his companions behind him, he’s going toward me.
"I’ll kill you first before I take care of them."
But after he said that, there are two heads falling on the ground. Victoria had just killed his two companions without him knowing.
"Do you really think that you can defeat my familiar with just that level of magic? You’re weaker than most expert level mages I have killed. But thank you anyway for trying to kill me. Because now I have no problem looting your items," I said as I collected things from the ground. Including the bag that the lost guy had. It’s now mine.
The expert level mage is sweating a lot now. He would never expect that my familiar could kill his companions without him knowing. He should have realized that when Victoria killed his brother without him knowing.
He was about to say something, but I didn’t let him.
"Don’t even think that I will spare your life. It’s your fault for targeting me. And for the guys on the ground who are still alive, I won’t kill you. And I won’t even take the items you got. But I will keep this bag as compensation for your friend who told them about me. This is the life as hunters. You win, you take everything. You lose, you lost everything."
As their senior, I still give them another advice. I hope they won’t think of killing me in the future. They could be good guys because they were polite toward me.
Maybe they will retire from being hunters. But I won’t care about them anymore.
And so, Victoria killed the expert level mage. Then I left the two of them. They were injured, but they should still be able to get out of this dungeon since most monsters here have been killed. They just need some rest before they move.
This is the end of our dungeon exploration. We got some items. I hope they are good items.
Now, we will continue with the search of the pyramid.
