Chapter 1070: Race to the Last Treasure

Still inside the dungeon. We’re going to get all the undiscovered treasure chests here.

From what I can see with my Divine Vision, there should be five more treasure chests. One of them is going to be discovered by another party. So it’s four left.

But that’s only what I can see with my Divine Vision. There might be more.

Though before that party can discover that treasure chest, we will encounter another human being in this dungeon. He’s the only one who came here alone other than me. Well, I can’t really say that I’m alone since I’m with Victoria.

"Victoria, we will meet another hunter soon. Don’t talk," I said.

And Victoria just continues moving forward without talking. She’s acting like a monster. Well, she is a monster.

With this, other people will only think of her as my familiar. Though I hope no one will connect me to the Aura user. At least not now.

I hope he’s not with the cult.

We continue moving to the next treasure chest. And when we get close to that guy, he hides somewhere before he started following me.

Well, he’s weak. He can only fight by attacking the enemy when they least expected it. I’ve seen how he fights. So I know that he can’t do anything to me.

He must be thinking that I’m a summoner with a strong familiar fighting for me. And he’s going to follow me so he can explore the dungeon without having to worry about enemies since I will be the one taking care of them.

But I don’t like it. I believe that he’s trying to attack me when I least expected it. Like when I’m opening a treasure chest or something.

Now, I have two choices I want to make. First is to meet him right now. Then I will tell him to not follow me.

Second is to leave him be until he decided to attack me. Then I will kill him.

I prefer the second choice. Because I don’t know what he will do if I leave him alive. He should just be dead.

But what if he’s actually lost in this dungeon and just wants to get out of here? Then maybe telling him not to follow me is a better choice.

’So, what should I do?’ I asked Victoria using telepathy.

’Do you really think that he’s lost?’ Victoria asked me back.

’I don’t know. He’s bad at direction that I saw him going the same path three times already. So maybe he is,’ I said.

’Three times? Tell him to leave then. We’re still going to stay here for quite a while, right?’

’It depends on you. If you want to finish it sooner, you can ask me to share my Aura with you so you can move faster. We’re not in a hurry. We can find the pyramid some other day. In fact, I hope that it will be someone else who will find the pyramid rather than us.’

Just flying above the shore on the north for weeks looking for the pyramid is something I don’t like. I just helped because it seems like it’s faster.

’Georgia said that it’s a coast city, right? Then you can just use portal from one coast city to another easily,’ Victoria suggested.

’I already suggested that to the others. But they said that they need to check things thoroughly. Though even if I have passed the area, they will still send the agents to look at the same area. So I think it’s not really important that I’m the one doing it. But I’ll do it anyway.’

They’re afraid that I will miss something. So they will still check the area I have passed. That’s actually quite disrespectful of them. But it’s understandable considering that I have brain damage.

So I decided to make the guy stop following me. Even if he’s lost, I won’t care. He can just find the exit on his own. If not, then it’s his fault for entering the dungeon alone.

I stopped walking and turn around to where the guy was hiding.

"Stop following me and leave," I said.

Then I continue walking. But only after moving just five steps forward, I stop again.

"I said stop following me! You think I don’t know that you’re there? I’m going deeper into the dungeon!"

If I said that I’m going deeper into the dungeon, then he will leave if he’s just lost. But if he still didn’t leave, then he’s aiming for something. And I will kill him if he continues following me.

I can see that he was shocked that I noticed him twice so easily. This time, I didn’t move as I continue staring at where he’s hiding. Behind the wall to another path.

Then I can see he’s retreating. Good. I’m leaving now.

...He didn’t leave. He just stepped back thinking that he’s safe from my detection ability and still continuing to follow me.

I get my Blobbygun and fired it at him. This time, he’s running away and didn’t bother to hide.

"Alright. We can continue again now," I said.

Then we found another treasure chest. What’s inside is a pair of gloves. Maybe they will give something good if worn. I’ll store it next to the previous dress so I can give it to the appraiser later.

"Next treasure would be... huh?"

While I was checking the route to another treasure chest, I see something else. The guy from before ran so fast after I fired a bullet at him. And he quickly encountered another group of people. It’s a party with four members in it.

He said something to them. Then he realized something was wrong so he tried to retreat. Only for the party to block his path.

That man then tried to fight back using magic. But the other party are stronger than him. And he died. Killed by those four. And even his belonging is checked.

That guy found a treasure chest before. It’s filled with gold and he had them in his bag. And now, all those gold are taken by those four.

"The guy from before died. He encountered the party of four and they killed him," I said.

"Poor guy. He just wants to leave this dungeon."

"That doesn’t seem to be the case. He only ran before because I threatened him. If not, he will continue stalking us. And now it seems like he told those four about us. Those four is now going to the path that the guy came from. Well, I’ll just kill them if we meet," I said.

"You said that there’s another party here, right? What about them?" Victoria asked.

"They’re fighting a monster right now. What about them?" I asked back.

"Don’t you think that the guy who died was a member of that party and he just wanted to return to his party members?"

...I never thought of that. I guess it’s possible that he just wanted to meet with his party members after he got caught in a trap. But he’s dead now.

Well, it’s just our guesses. Whatever is real, I just hope that no one will bother us.

We found some more treasure chests. And I can tell that the next one will be the last. And it’s a race between me and the party of three. Not the party that killed the solo guy.

"Next is the last treasure chest. If we’re not fast enough, the other party will get there first through another path. Do you want it or we just leave it to them?" I asked Victoria.

"How fast should I go?" Victoria asked.

"I think if you just run with your normal speed, you can pass them."

"Then I’ll run. If they get it first, it’s a fair race. I’ll let them have it. But if we get it first, and they try to steal it from us, we will kill them," Victoria said.

"I guess that’s what we’ll do. Let’s go."

Victoria runs in her living armor form. I just run behind her keeping up with her pace.

"Oh, soon we will pass them. They encounter a monster and stop to fight them. We will too. If you want to be first, you have to defeat it fast," I said.

Soon enough, we encounter a monster. This one was rather stronger than any of the previous monsters we encountered. And it took a while for her to defeat the monster.

There’s an intersection ahead. If we turn left, we will see the treasure chest. But the other party is on the right and they should be able to see the treasure chest right away. And we ended up meeting them at the intersection.

We all stopped there. Then I pretend that I have just discovered the treasure chest even though I have seen it before.

"The first one to the treasure chest will get it!" I said.

And so, one living armor and three mages are running to the treasure chest. Two of the mages are flying. But they’re not that fast. Just advanced level wind mages.

I just watched as a wind mage and Victoria about to touch the chest at the same time. I can see the content of the treasure chest. It’s just some jewelry that can be sold for money. I think it’s best for the other party to get them.

So when Victoria was about to touch the chest, I told her about the content of the chest. And she paused a bit so the other wind mage ended up getting the treasure chest.

’Well, it’s just some jewelry. We already have a lot of money,’ Victoria said.

’I’m the one with a lot of money! You just steal them from me!’

And so, all the treasure chests in this dungeon have been found. There’s no more reason for us to be here. Let’s leave.
