Chapter 916: Stand up for Justice

Chapter 916: Stand up for Justice

Looking up to see Chen Murong looking at him, Ling Feng awkwardly smiled: "Kids at home are really curious!"

"Oh!"

Chen Murong didn’t talk much, just nodded her head.

But Zheng Yitong was curiously looking at Ling Feng because, although she didn’t hear the content of the phone call clearly, she knew it was the coquettish voice of a girl.

Seeing that Ling Feng had finished the call, she immediately said, "Mr. Ling, everything’s arranged. At one o’clock in the afternoon, I’ll take you to meet Brother Fa and Brother Hua!"

"Okay!"

Ling Feng nodded, stretched lazily: "There’s still some time, I’ll go upstairs to rest for a bit."

No sooner had he stood up than Aunt Xue came over with a tray of food.

"If you’re not too tired, why don’t you have breakfast first before resting?" Chen Murong suggested.

Seeing this, Ling Feng also felt a bit hungry, so he nodded: "Alright."

So Aunt Xue put down the tray and placed the congee and side dishes on the coffee table.

Ling Feng picked up the bowls and chopsticks to eat, but noticed that three women were watching him, which made him somewhat uncomfortable.

"Mr. Ling, take your time eating, we’ll go upstairs first!"

Noticing his embarrassment, Chen Murong stood up and said.

The mother and daughter went upstairs, and Aunt Xue went to the back kitchen, leaving Ling Feng alone in the living room.

He then felt a bit more comfortable, so he lowered his head and started wolfing down his food without any regard for image.

After clearing all the food on the table, Ling Feng stretched his arms comfortably, with a satisfied expression.

Unexpectedly, he glanced toward the kitchen and saw Aunt Xue peeking at him, which startled him for a moment.

Then he collected his bowls and chopsticks and took them to the kitchen, where Aunt Xue quickly took them: "Let me clean that up, Mr. Ling, you don’t have to be so polite!"

Ling Feng smiled: "It’s no trouble, a small matter I can handle!"

After saying that, he looked at Aunt Xue, a bit curious: "You’ve been secretly watching me, is there something you need help with?"

"Ah."

Aunt Xue suddenly panicked, her eyes darting away, before she lowered her head: "I wanted to ask for your help, but your status is so high, I didn’t dare to speak up."

"What is it, Aunt Xue? Just tell me!"

Ling Feng knew there must be something, so he immediately asked.

"I know you are skilled in martial arts, I would like your help with a domestic issue!" Aunt Xue whispered.

"A domestic issue? Is it someone bullying you?" Ling Feng asked.

Aunt Xue nodded her head: "Yes."

"How could this happen? Didn’t you talk to Mrs. Chen about it?" Ling Feng asked, puzzled.

Aunt Xue looked up: "You don’t know, Mrs. Chen despises dealing with street gangsters; if I mentioned it to her, she wouldn’t care."

Realization dawned on Ling Feng; what status did Chen Murong hold, and how could she possibly bother with street hoodlums?

She was above such concerns; dealing with a few hoodlums over any issue would be beneath her!

Thus, Ling Feng smiled: "Got it, I’ll handle this matter for you. Aunt Xue, tell me more about the situation!"

"Okay."

Aunty Xue nodded and began speaking softly.

In fact, the situation is quite simple. Aunt Xue’s home is located in the slums on the outskirts of Harbor Island, where sixty percent of the ordinary populace of the entire Harbor Island gathers. They are all low-income citizens.

Harbor Island is originally full of gangsters. This place is densely populated, making it inevitable for some children to join the underworld and become enforcers before they even reach adulthood.

In their view, not having to work and being able to enjoy good food and drinks, plus having brothers to support them, makes them fearless wherever they go.

This situation has become a social phenomenon on Harbor Island. With TV dramas often shooting this theme, people from the Mainland gradually became aware of these circumstances.

And Aunty Xue’s son was once a gangster as well. He mixed with people in society for two years, and during a gang fight, he accidentally killed someone. So, the gang leader gave him a sum of money, and he fled abroad.

But unfortunately, he hadn’t escaped for long when his boss was beaten to death. This small gang of only dozens of people immediately fell apart like a dragon without a head, scattering to the wind.

Unexpectedly, the people originally injured by Aunty Xue’s son came knocking on her door. They demanded she hand over her son and pay a huge sum of money, otherwise they would burn down her house!

They gave her one week’s time, and now it’s already the sixth day.

Aunty Xue had no idea where her son had gone, nor did she have any contact with him. Seeing her small home of just over ten square meters about to be lost, she had no other choice but to seek help from Ling Feng.

She thought he would disdain such a trivial matter, but to her surprise, after listening to her, Ling Feng frowned and said, "Aunty Xue, don’t worry. I’ll take care of this matter for you!"

"Thank you, thank you, Mr. Ling!"

Aunty Xue was overjoyed upon hearing this, bowing and making courtesies in haste.

Seeing her plight, Ling Feng sighed and said, "Give me your home address, and I’ll come over to check it out soon!"

"Okay."

Aunty Xue pulled out a crumpled piece of paper from her pocket and wrote down an address, which she handed to Ling Feng.

After glancing at it, Ling Feng put it in his pocket: "I’ll be back by noon."

After saying that, he turned and left the house, not bothering to go upstairs, and directly left the villa.

Walking down the highway, Ling Feng couldn’t help but give a bitter smile.

It never crossed his mind that even at this point, he would still be mediating disputes for others!

But on second thought, Ling Feng felt that he had never considered himself superior or placed himself above others.

On the contrary, whenever there’s injustice, he always feels compelled to intervene, otherwise it would sit uncomfortably with him!

Ling Feng thought that even if one day he became a high-ranking figure, he would not be able to change his character.

Pondering such random thoughts, he walked down the hill. Just as he was about to hail a cab to his destination, a van stopped in front of him, and then Zhang He rolled down the window: "What are you up to now?"

"Running an errand. You’re back, tired?"

Zhang He smirked: "What do you think?"

"I think you must be quite tired. Why don’t you head back and rest? I can handle things myself!" Ling Feng said with a smile.

"C’mon, hurry and get in the car, and tell me what you’re up to now!" Zhang He motioned impatiently.

Ling Feng chuckled and got into the car: "Why do you seem a bit unhappy?"

"Do you even need to ask?" Zhang He rolled his eyes.

"I’ve been really restrained! The Holy Light Society’s branch here only has clerical staff, those collecting intelligence, and those planning infiltrations; they’re all agents. Shouldn’t we spare these guys so they can enjoy comfortable lives in their home country?" Ling Feng said with a smile.

"Can’t you be more discreet? Even reporters can see there’s something wrong, isn’t this like alerting the Harbor Island police?" Zhang He said helplessly.

Hearing this, Ling Feng’s eyes widened: "I was actually about to ask you about that. How did the reporters know there was something wrong at the scene?"
