The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 917: Looking for Someone

Chapter 917: Looking for Someone

Zhang He rolled his eyes: "Typical of a greenhorn, if Lin Xue were here, she wouldn’t let you mess things up like that!"

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng responded: "Then tell me, where did I go wrong?"

"The traces you faked at the scene were too obvious. If those guys were burned to death by a fire, at the very least they would struggle and cry for help, right? But the bodies were charred without a single sign of movement!" Zhang He explained.

"Uh....."

Ling Feng was at a loss for words, having been solely focused on exacting revenge, he hadn’t thought much about the aftermath!

Moreover, the reason he started the fire wasn’t actually to cover up the crime!

He then chuckled and looked at Zhang He’s speechless face: "Let others speculate all they want, in the end, it’s an unsolved case, and there’s nothing they can do!"

"What about Harbor Island’s police force? Do they owe you something?" Zhang He rolled his eyes.

Ling Feng smiled: "Don’t worry, I will compensate them!"

This remark caught Zhang He off guard, and he turned to Ling Feng: "What kind of compensation can you offer them?"

"I have my own clever plan!" Ling Feng deliberately played coy.

This irked Zhang He, who abruptly hit the brakes: "Not telling, huh? Then go do whatever you need to do, I’m done with this!"

"No, wait!"

Seeing that Zhang He was seriously annoyed, Ling Feng hastily chuckled: "I’ll tell you, okay?"

"Stop beating around the bush and spill it now!" Zhang He said impatiently.

"Actually, I set the fire because I didn’t want anyone to know what was missing from there, I’ve taken all the important documents and materials!" Ling Feng said triumphantly.

"Huh?"

Zhang He’s eyes widened with interest: "What kind of documents did you take?"

Ling Feng: "There’s a lot, I haven’t categorized them in detail, but they’re definitely all top-secret files!"

"No way? How would you know, isn’t your English at middle school level?" Zhang He looked puzzled.

"True, but that doesn’t stop me from knowing what I want from their heads!" Ling Feng shrugged his shoulders!

"Alright, you’re really something!"

Upon hearing this, Zhang He immediately gave a thumbs up, then restarted the car: "Where to now?"

"Hey? Why did you stop asking?" Ling Feng said, surprised.

"First let’s take care of your business, then we’ll take a good look at those documents," Zhang He said.

Ling Feng smiled: "Alright, then let’s go handle those hoodlums first."

During the journey, Ling Feng informed Zhang He about Aunt Xue’s request.

After listening, Zhang He sighed: "This kind of thing is all too common among Harbor Island’s ordinary citizens!"

Ling Feng nodded: "Can’t help everyone, just one at a time when we encounter them."

"This issue is also being addressed by the higher-ups, but the social situation that has formed in Harbor Island over the past few decades is obviously not something that can be resolved overnight. The only way is gradual progress!" Zhang He said.

"Understood," Ling Feng nodded.

In the meantime, the two had arrived near their destination.

After getting out of the car, the two saw a dense cluster of buildings all around, store signs piled on top of each other, with surging crowds and a cacophony of voices!

Looking at the address, Ling Feng smirked helplessly: "How are we supposed to find it?"

"Give it to me!"

Zhang He snatched the slip of paper and then approached a roadside shop to ask the shop owner.

Soon they found the direction and immediately walked towards a white building up ahead.

The entrance to the building was extremely narrow, barely accommodating one person to enter or exit, and it was only after going inside that Ling Feng realized it was a tube-shaped residential building.

Each floor has a corridor, with households tightly packed one next to another, all doors facing the corridor.

Although it’s already working hours, almost every household seems to be bustling with people, coming and going, doing who knows what.

Up on the third floor, after passing several families, Ling Feng and Zhang He arrived at Auntie Xue’s doorstep.

She’s not home, so naturally, the door is locked.

But the door and walls have already been smeared with words in red paint, foul language so vile it’s unbearable to look at!

Ling Feng frowns upon seeing this, while Zhang He doesn’t seem to react, chuckling and saying, "This is local flavor, for all you know, one might think Auntie Xue owes someone usurious loans!"

"Isn’t this too malicious?" Ling Feng says helplessly.

"What’s this? At most it’s harassment, you haven’t seen anything crueler!" Zhang He laughs and says.

Ling Feng looks at him: "Have you seen worse?"

"I haven’t, but I’ve heard of it. When these guys get down to business, throwing paint is just child’s play. When they’re pushed to the edge, they won’t hesitate to injure people, kidnapping, rape, nothing is off-limits," Zhang He says with an eye roll.

"Utterly ruthless!"

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng then asks, "So what do we do now, how can we find the person who splashed the paint?"

"Easy!"

Zhang He smiles, takes a step to the neighboring room, and knocks on the door.

After a while, the door creaks open a crack, then an eye peers out.

"Who splashed the paint on the neighbors’ wall?"

As Zhang He hands over a hundred yuan note, he asks this.

The person inside wastes no time, grabbing the note, then speaks in broken Mandarin: "Yes, it was Niu Shiqiang’s men."

"Where can we find him?" Zhang He asks.

The person doesn’t reply, just looks down at the pocket of Zhang He’s clothing.

Zhang He pulls out another hundred yuan note and passes it over, only then does the other party speak: "Next street over, there’s a Lily Massage Parlor."

With a bang, the door closes!

Zhang He chuckles, turns his head to look at Ling Feng: "This is the local specialty, separated by just one wall, yet it’s like an entirely different world!"

"Such indifference in people’s hearts!"

Ling Feng sighs, and they head downstairs together.

Afterward, Zhang He asks around for the location of the Lily Massage Parlor, then after circling around a couple of alleys, they stop in front of the entrance of a building.

Looking up, they see a building of over a dozen floors, each covered in dense signs, all advertising various massage and leisure facilities.

Ling Feng stares in amazement, then looks down at Zhang He: "This isn’t, that kind of place, is it?"

"You’ve got it, exactly that kind of place!"

Then, after a wink: "What do you say? Wanna go in and enjoy their services?"

"Get lost!"

Ling Feng shoots him a look of disdain and enters the building.

Zhang He snickers and hurries after him.

The interior of the building is completely different from Auntie Xue’s neighborhood; those coming and going are sleazy-looking men and women, with dyed hair, tattoos, cigarettes – practically standard issue.

Seeing these people, four characters suddenly appear in Ling Feng’s mind: "Every manner of demon and monster!"

Taking the stairs up to the fifth floor, this stretch is the territory of the Lily Massage Parlor, with a young thug leaning at the entrance smoking a cigarette and sizing up Zhang He and Ling Feng.

Then, sensing their sharp-eyed and stern-looking demeanor, unlike clients here for pleasure, he immediately grabs his walkie-talkie.

But Ling Feng doesn’t give him the chance to speak, delivering a kick straight over!
