The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 793: Downpour

Chapter 793: Downpour

The construction site was bustling with workers, all of whom noticed the dark cloud drifting over and stopped their tasks to look up.

Seeing the people cease working, He Jiuguang shouted angrily, "What are you all looking at? It’s just a patch of cloud, it’s not going to rain, get back to work quickly!"

As he was the overseer, the workers, upon hearing this, could only resume their busy tasks without looking up again.

But He Jiuguang felt something wasn’t quite right. That cloud was pitch-black; one look and you knew it was a huge cumulonimbus cloud. He thought to himself, it couldn’t be such a coincidence that it would start to rain right when it floated above us, could it?

He turned to look around; the sky in all directions was clear, with only that one cloud appearing. It felt a bit too strange!

Just as he was pondering this, the cloud had already drifted over, arriving above Shiliu Village!

Then, suddenly, with a booming sound, a bolt of lightning exploded from within the clouds, and large raindrops began to fall!

At this, the workers were not willing to go along with it, dropping their work, they turned to find shelter from the rain!

He Jiuguang, anxious about the progress, found that shouting was useless; his yells were like the buzzing of a mosquito beneath the loud thunder.

The downpour came in an instant; those who ran fast took cover in the temporary sheds, while the slower ones got completely drenched!

He Jiuguang was no different; by the time he rushed into the shed, he was already soaked through, with his hair plastered to his forehead!

The people either stood at the door or by the window, staring blankly at the torrential rain as it fell, the whole world a blur outside.

Of course, this was only within the boundaries of the construction site. Beyond this area, it was sunny and bright, without a drop of rain!

Many workers talked amongst themselves, feeling that the situation was bizarre. Having grown so big, none had ever seen rain like this!

"What’s all the noise for? It’s just a shower; when it stops you will all go back to work!" He Jiuguang shouted.

"Village Chief, with such heavy rain, the ground is muddy. How can we work?" someone asked.

"Then we’ll wait until the cloud passes and the sun dries it out!" He Jiuguang said.

He was a novice in the construction field and completely clueless. The workers, seasoned veterans on construction sites, secretly curled their lips upon hearing this.

Such heavy rain couldn’t possibly dry in a day; if you didn’t believe it, just wait and see!

The rain showed no sign of stopping, pouring down incessantly for half an hour, and still, there was no indication it would cease, and people began to talk quietly amongst themselves again.

Ever since it began, the rain came very oddly, plus it was a relentless downpour without a break, unlike any seen before with its incessant rage.

Some even secretly wondered if there was something like a Mountain God in the ruins of this village, and their construction work had angered it, causing this bizarre rainfall.

What they didn’t know was that Ling Feng, deemed the Mountain God, was currently standing at his doorstep with his arm around Zhou Yi’s shoulder, grinning as he watched the rain!

There wasn’t a single drop of rain on his side, where the sunlight shone directly, contrasting starkly with the dark, sunless look of the village, as if they were worlds apart.

With constant thunder, lightning, and a torrential downpour, Zhou Yi couldn’t help but laugh after a while, "This thunderstorm of yours is quite interesting!"

"It’s a shame I can’t increase its range; otherwise, I could have used it to reclaim the desert!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.

Zhou Yi smiled, "Leave it to you to come up with using this method against someone of the He surname!"

Ling Feng looked at him, "It’s an effortless and time-saving strategy. They want to build, do they? I’ll let this rain pour until winter, let’s see how they can work then!"

"That will probably drive them to their wits’ end!" Zhou Yi said with a mischievous smile.

The rain continued from the morning all the way until three o’clock in the afternoon, showing no signs of stopping.

The workers had already begun to pack up, ready to leave while braving the rain.

Anyway, as long as I charge out for a little over five hundred meters, the sky outside is clear, and being soaked doesn’t matter—I can just dry off in the sun.

But the expression on He Jiuguang’s face was getting worse and worse. Now it wasn’t just a simple matter of mud everywhere on the construction site. The lower-lying areas had long been filled with rainwater, turning into small ponds. This wouldn’t be resolved by tomorrow, or even in three or five days—work couldn’t be done!

"Village Chief, we’ll head back first. When the work can be restarted, give us a call?"

The foreman responsible for leading the team said to He Jiuguang.

"..."

He Jiuguang didn’t say a word, his face turning steely as he nodded slightly.

Afterward, the workers, some wearing raincoats and some covering their heads with plastic bags, one after another, dashed into the curtain of rain!

When almost everyone had left, only He Jiuguang remained in the work shed. He then took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Is there a problem?"

On the other end of the phone, a cool female voice came through.

"Miss, there’s been a little issue at the construction site. It’s raining," said He Jiuguang.

"Rain? What’s the big deal about that? Once the rain stops, you can just work harder to catch up and recover the lost time!" the woman replied.

He Jiuguang’s face looked somewhat embarrassed: "No, this rain is a bit strange, it looks like it’s going to last for a long time!"

"Hm?"

The woman paused, then said, "The weather forecast didn’t mention any rain. Isn’t it just a shower over there?"

"No, it has been raining the entire day from morning till now, and what’s peculiar is that it’s only raining over the construction site. The surrounding area is all clear!" He Jiuguang explained.

"..."

There was a moment of silence from the woman before she tersely said, "Wait, I’ll send someone over to take a look!"

"Understood!"

He Jiuguang hung up the phone, looked outside, and, feeling helpless, shook his head as he left the work shed.

Not far off was a sky clear as far as the eye could see; he had no desire to stay in this muddy world any longer.

Thoroughly drenched by the rain, He Jiuguang rushed to the edge of the village where it wasn’t raining.

Feeling the warmth of the sun, he let out a breath, feeling as if he had just returned from hell.

The immense black cloud hung over Shiliu Village, showing no sign of moving. Amid flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder, the deluge maintained its initial intensity, pouring down continuously into the evening.

Ling Feng had already teleported with Zhou Yi to the Nine Heavens and was not concerned with the village’s affairs.

After all, Mo Jiaolan had already made arrangements. All the relocated villagers had been contacted and were in the process of being provided with more suitable accommodations. In time, after bringing down the He project, they would rebuild Shiliu Village.

By seven in the evening, several sedans pulled up at the entrance of the village. He Jiuguang, who had been waiting for some time, immediately went to greet them.

The door of the lead car opened, and a man in his forties in a white practice suit, sporting a small mustache, and holding a string of prayer beads stepped out. He didn’t even glance at He Jiuguang, his attention focused entirely on the dark cloud above.

He Jiuguang knew this was the expert called by the He Family, so he bent slightly at the side, not daring to make conversation.

A woman in a business suit skirt got out of one of the cars behind. With a cool and detached face, she approached and asked, "Master Sun, what do you make of this?"
