Chapter 782: From Earth

After arriving at the pharmaceutical factory, the group received a very warm welcome.

It turned out that the director of the research and development center, had once been Professor Tang’s student, so he treated him and his companions with great respect.

Professor Tang didn’t say much because they had already discussed their business over the phone. Therefore, he led everyone directly into a building and up to the research center on the top floor.

Afterward, he asked the director and Liu Tao to stay outside and entered the laboratory with Ling Feng, Lin Xue, and Tang Hong.

Ling Feng glanced around and noticed that surveillance equipment filled every corner of the laboratory, so he reminded, "Professor, there’s surveillance here!"

"It’s alright."

Professor Tang said, and then looked at him, "Give me the box."

Since he said so, Ling Feng didn’t argue and nodded, taking the box out from the Space Ring.

Then, the Tang father and daughter got to work, while Ling Feng and Lin Xue sat aside, waiting for the test results.

Several hours passed by just like that, and suddenly, the printer started up.

Tang Hong was responsible for receiving the printouts, of which there were nearly a hundred!

Seeing Professor Tang frowning deeply, Ling Feng couldn’t help but ask, "Professor, do we have the results?"

"We do."

Professor Tang nodded but didn’t elaborate, instead he gave a meaningful look.

Ling Feng understood that it meant it wasn’t convenient to talk here, they would discuss it later.

Afterward, the group left the laboratory, got back into the car, and returned to the university campus.

Liu Tao had been there the whole time. Although he hadn’t entered the laboratory, he had waited outside for the better part of the day.

However, he was very discreet. He did not say anything during the drive and asked about nothing.

Back in the university lab, Professor Tang asked the girls and Liu Tao to go about their business and entered his office with Ling Feng and Lin Xue, locking the door behind them.

"Can you tell us now?" Ling Feng asked.

"Yes, I’ll first send the data to Old Han."

Professor Tang nodded as he inserted a USB drive into the computer, "The genetic maps of these seeds have been figured out, and there’s nothing that sets them apart from the plants we have on Earth."

Ling Feng was startled, "What do you mean, are you saying there are the same plants on Earth?"

"That’s not it!"

Professor Tang shook his head, "Due to the diversity of life, differences often lie in tiny variances of 0.1% or even less. A single differing gene can lead to a plant that’s quite different. This doesn’t prove that these plants exist on Earth."

"But what’s strange is that the genes of these seeds haven’t evolved for three thousand years!"

Ling Feng listened and seemed somewhat to understand but was still puzzled, "What does that imply?"

"It strongly suggests that they might have been taken from Earth, modified, and then remained unchanged ever since," Professor Tang explained.

Ling Feng still didn’t quite understand and looked confused.

"To put it simply, I’m a scientist, and ideally, I shouldn’t speculate. But these seeds are just too peculiar. If I were to guess, they were taken away three thousand years ago, which means we might have found evidence of the existence of aliens."

"The seeds could be a message, hinting at something. As for what it’s trying to convey, let’s leave that to Han Wancheng and his team to analyze," added Professor Tang.

Ling Feng muttered to himself in bewilderment, "Could there be some civilization on the Moon signaling their presence to us, hoping that we initiate contact with them?"

"It’s possible!" Professor Tang nodded.

Ling Feng was astonished.

Lin Xue was also a bit stupefied.

The thing we discussed before might just happen now.

If we really land on the Moon, what will we find?

A paradise in the Mortal World, or a trap fraught with danger?

Ling Feng didn’t dare to think further and chuckled, "Let’s just leave it at that, I don’t want to overthink it, Director Han’s side will definitely have strategists, they will analyze it carefully."

"Exactly!"

Professor Tang nodded, the file had already finished uploading, he removed the USB drive from the computer and put it on the desk, and then picked up the ashtray and smashed it to pieces.

Ling Feng watched in shock as Professor Tang smiled, "Even if I format it, there are still techniques to recover the files inside, the best way is to destroy it completely, so no one would ever know what was stored in it!"

"Professor Tang is really meticulous!"

Ling Feng smiled, thinking of the printed documents earlier, he couldn’t help but ask, "What about those printed files?"

"You just need to take them back to Old Han!"

After Professor Tang finished speaking, he checked the time, "Alright, let’s call it a day. You can get off work earlier. We’ll do the seed cultivation tomorrow."

So he stood up and left the office, and he and Lin Xue went downstairs together.

But just as they got outside, they saw someone standing at the door, it was Guo Kai whom they had met in the morning!

Lin Xue was startled and stepped forward to ask, "What are you doing here?"

"I have a college mate doing his Ph.D. here, he told me you were here, so I came to wait!" Guo Kai said with a smile.

"Your classmate? Who?" Lin Xue asked.

"Liu Tao, you’ve met him!"

Lin Xue gave an ’oh’ of recognition, confirming he wasn’t just making things up, and then followed up, "So, did you need me for something?"

Guo Kai glanced at Ling Feng, then laughed, "Nothing serious, just that it’s a rare chance to meet again, I thought of asking you out for a meal!"

"Oh, thanks, but I have things to do today. I can’t join you, maybe some other time," Lin Xue said with a smile.

A look of disappointment flashed in Guo Kai’s eyes as he asked with a twinge of hopefulness, "So where are you heading?"

"Home, my father is waiting for us to return," Lin Xue said nonchalantly.

"Alright!"

Hearing this, Guo Kai could not press the matter further.

So Lin Xue smiled, said goodbye, and walked away, arm in arm with Ling Feng.

After the two had walked away, Liu Tao came out of the building, saw Guo Kai standing there in a daze, and couldn’t help but laugh, "Disappointed? I told you she had a boyfriend, but you just wouldn’t give up!"

"Cut the crap, are you off work? Come drink with me!" said Guo Kai, irked.

Liu Tao laughed, "What? Your Dongying boss doesn’t mind?"

"He’s gone doing who knows what, being all secretive and not taking me with him—told me I’m free to do as I wish!" Guo Kai replied.

"That’s great, you’ve been here for a couple of days, it’s about time we caught up properly, let’s go!"

Liu Tao laughed and slung an arm around Guo Kai’s shoulder as they walked off.

When Ling Feng and Lin Xue arrived home, sure enough, Lin Huaqiang did not seem surprised and said with a beaming smile, "I just wanted to see if you two had forgotten about this home!"

"How could that be? We just finished a phase of our work and came right over!" Ling Feng replied with a smile.
