Chapter 1150: Attack
Chapter 1150: Attack
The mountain path wasn’t too rugged. The three of them walked through the wilderness and, about a kilometer away from the Mountain God Temple village, the vegetation on the mountains around them had transformed into the appearance of early winter—a bleak, chilling scene.
Seeing this, Ling Feng glanced at Ye Qian with some doubt. "The strange phenomena are gone. Are you sure you want to venture deeper into the mountains?"
"Yes, I can still sense that energy. It’s coming from somewhere deeper in the mountains!" Ye Qian nodded.
"Alright, then let’s keep going!"
Ling Feng was filled with curiosity and questions, thinking to himself, apart from Spiritual Energy, what kind of power could make plants rejuvenate, even bloom as if turning back time?
And all of this happened in just one night—the speed was far too unusual!
After walking a bit further, a ruined village at the base of a distant mountain came into view.
Most of the roofs in the village were overgrown with wild grass; only a few courtyards appeared relatively clean. Because it was midday, wisps of cooking smoke rose slowly into the air.
Though dilapidated, the atmosphere seemed unusually quiet and serene. Chen Yan pointed to an ancient tower on the peak behind the village and said, "Look over there. I bet the village’s name has something to do with that tower."
"That’s certainly possible. I didn’t expect someone to build a tower this deep in the mountains. Judging by its appearance, it must be from ages ago!" Ling Feng nodded in agreement.
Ye Qian spoke up at this moment, "Let’s go. Head straight to the tower—I feel like the problem originates there!"
With that, she stepped forward decisively.
The three of them quickly bypassed the village and ascended the mountain, arriving at the foot of the tower.
This was an ancient brick tower, standing about ten meters tall. Its surface was a dull gray due to the wear of time.
Staring up at the tower’s structure, Chen Yan suddenly remarked, "Oh my, why do I sense some divine presence emanating from it?"
"You sense it too?" Ye Qian turned to ask.
Still gazing upward, Chen Yan murmured, "Yes, it’s bizarre. I even feel an urge to kneel down and pay homage!"
Ling Feng stood to the side, baffled. He thought to himself, why am I not feeling a single thing?
At this moment, Ye Qian looked toward him. "Brother Ling, do you feel anything strange?"
"Not at all!"
Ling Feng shook his head with a bitter smile. "All I see is a stone tower—nothing else whatsoever!"
"Then what’s going on here?"
Ye Qian furrowed her brows in confusion.
Just then, Ling Feng caught a flicker in his peripheral vision—a shadow on the opposite hillside—and in the blink of an eye, two figures sprinted toward them at high speed!
Focusing his gaze, Ling Feng saw two men clad entirely in black, their bodies wrapped tightly except for their exposed eyes.
Noticing their attire, Ling Feng’s face darkened and he shouted, "Who’s there!"
The black-clad figures didn’t respond but rapidly leapt forward, closing the distance with startling agility!
When they unsheathed gleaming curved sabers, Ling Feng sneered coldly, "Courting death, huh?"
He was about to act when a shadow flashed before him; Chen Yan had already charged forward. "I’ll handle this!"
Before the words finished leaving her mouth, she was already engaged in combat with the two intruders!
Though her experience as a Superpower User wasn’t extensive, Chen Yan’s movements were striking in their boldness and fluidity—she exhibited a masterful air that momentarily stunned Ling Feng.
Realizing she wasn’t at a disadvantage, Ling Feng refrained from intervening, instead fixing his gaze keenly on the two black-robed men.
Studying their attack patterns for a moment, Ling Feng furrowed his brows. "Dongying fighters?"
Their curved sabers, along with the characteristic style of offense and defense, bore clear traces of Dongying influence, which left Ling Feng surprised.
"Could these two be targeting the tower?" Ye Qian asked from the side.
"That must be the case. I can’t think of any other reason for them to show up here!"
Ling Feng replied, then added, "Still, it’s strange—how are they reacting so quickly? We’ve only just come upon this ourselves!"
"Let’s get one alive and find out!"
With that, Ye Qian extended her arm, and an crimson-hued Peach Wood Sword materialized in her palm before she joined the fray.
Ling Feng could have used the Mind Soul Art to immobilize the two men, but seeing Ye Qian and Chen Yan eager to hone their abilities, he decided to let them handle it, simply observing from the sidelines.
In just a short span, Chen Yan kicked one of the black-clad attackers hard enough to send him flying. Seeing his ally defeated, the other man immediately lost his resolve and turned to flee!
Unfortunately for him, Ye Qian’s Peach Wood Sword was already pressed against his back, and she commanded sharply, "Move again, and you’re dead!"
The man clearly understood Chinese. He froze in place upon hearing this, raising his hands in the air.
Ling Feng approached, swiftly pressing a key pressure point on the man before removing his mask.
Upon seeing the thin mustache on the man’s face, Ling Feng smiled. "Just as I thought, a Dongying fighter!"
Meanwhile, Chen Yan had subdued the black-robed figure she had defeated with her kick. With a triumphant look, she turned and asked, "How did I do, Uncle Ling?"
"Remarkably well!"
Ling Feng wasn’t stingy with his praise. He nodded sincerely. "Now I’ll assign you another task: interrogate them. Find out why they’re here and what they’re after!"
"Got it!"
Chen Yan, her enthusiasm renewed, planted a foot firmly on her captive and shouted, "Speak! Why are you here? What’s your purpose!"
Ling Feng and Ye Qian observed with amusement, ignoring the hit man bound by pressure points and listening to Chen Yan interrogate the other.
Predictably, the captive was highly resistant, refusing to respond.
Despite repeated attempts, the man remained completely silent. Frustrated, Chen Yan looked over her shoulder and called out, "Uncle Ling, he won’t speak!"
"Then it’s time to put some pressure on him—let’s see how tough his resolve really is!" Ling Feng said.
"What?"
Chen Yan hesitated, her face showing slight embarrassment. "I... I can’t bring myself to do it!"
Ling Feng sighed, shaking his head with a wry smile. "Just imagine him as a human punching bag. Do whatever you need to do—don’t hesitate. This is a critical step; you have to adapt!"
"Alright then..."
Biting her lip, Chen Yan finally steeled her nerves. She raised her foot and kicked the captive!
However, she misjudged her strength, and the man’s body flew roughly ten meters, landing among jagged rocks!
When Chen Yan ran over to check, she discovered that the man’s eyes had rolled back, and he seemed to be on the brink of death!
"..."
Completely flustered, she turned back toward Ling Feng with teary eyes and stammered nervously, "Uncle Ling, he... he’s dying!"
Ling Feng: "..."
With no other choice, Ling Feng rushed over to examine the situation. Sure enough, the kick had been too forceful—the man’s vital meridian had snapped!
Not even the Daluo Golden Immortal could save him now. Ling Feng could only pat Chen Yan’s shoulder gently and say, "No worries—there’s still one more over here!"
