Chapter 1149 Mountain God Temple

Chapter 1149 Mountain God Temple

Ling Feng smiled and didn’t say anything, just nodded and said, "Alright, let’s go see what’s going on!"

After speaking, he turned and left, with Chen Yan and Ye Qian immediately following behind him.

Once in the car and on the road, after a while of silence from the two women, Ling Feng couldn’t help but ask, "By the way, why haven’t I seen Feihong these past few days?"

"She already went back!"

Chen Yan, quick to respond, immediately added, "But she said she’ll be back in a while!"

Ling Feng let out an "Oh," and then said, "Then help me tell her this: Shiliu Village is preparing to start a corporate group project. In the future, there will definitely be expansion and development, so let her and Jiaolan plan ahead to build a hotel in our area!"

"A corporate group?"

Chen Yan and Ye Qian were both stunned. After exchanging a glance, they asked, "Why?"

Ling Feng chuckled, and with nothing else to do on the road, explained the bet he made with the two young people from Hua Family Village.

After hearing this, the two women were left speechless.

Then Chen Yan said, "Uncle, you really jump into things as soon as you think of them!"

"Do I? I think beating them is actually pretty easy!" Ling Feng replied.

"With one decision, wouldn’t you make Sister Jiaolan so busy she’d run herself ragged?" Chen Yan asked.

"Uh, don’t worry, I won’t let her handle everything alone. Didn’t I just mention Duan Feihong? If she has time, she’ll definitely come over quickly!" Ling Feng said with a grin.

"Hmph, you’ve calculated everything perfectly!"

Chen Yan rolled her eyes.

Ling Feng snickered without saying anything further, turning instead to ask, "By the way, what’s the situation like over in North Mountain Township now?"

"There’s a place called Mountain God Temple Village where something’s gone wrong. You’ll know when we get there!" Chen Yan teased.

Ling Feng didn’t probe further upon hearing this, and nodded, "Mountain God Temple, right? Okay, navigate me there!"

The car then drove for about thirty minutes, arriving at a canyon nestled between two mountains.

Not far ahead lay Mountain God Temple Village. Before they even got close, Ling Feng murmured and then muttered, "It’s almost winter, so why does this village look like it’s in spring?"

Through Divine Sense, he saw something peculiar: the vegetable patches of every household were lush and green, with many vegetables even flowering.

At this moment, Chen Yan remarked, "We’re here to investigate this exact issue—this kind of phenomenon occurring during this season and temperature. It’s really strange!"

Ling Feng nodded, "You’re right!"

Without needing Chen Yan to elaborate further, Ling Feng swept his Divine Sense over most of Mountain God Temple Village, discovering that the area covered by his sense showed the same oddity. It seemed this strange occurrence extended over a not-so-small radius!

After the car stopped at the village entrance, quite a few villagers were already waiting for them. An elderly man in his sixties stepped forward and said, "Welcome, esteemed experts, to our village! I’m Liu Fu, the Village Chief!"

The locals didn’t know Ling Feng and the others’ identities and assumed they were experts from some research department.

Ling Feng smiled, "Hello, Village Chief. My name is Ling Feng."

After the introductions, Liu Fu asked, "Is there a particular place you’d like to see? I can take you there!"

"The village is called Mountain God Temple, isn’t it? That’s pretty unique. Was there a temple here in the past?" Ling Feng asked.

"Not just in the past—there’s still one here now! Our village was actually named after this temple!" Liu Fu replied.

Ling Feng paused in surprise, "Oh? Then take us to see it!"

"Alright!"

Liu Fu nodded and turned to lead the way into the village.

Soon, villagers and children—curious as ever—followed the group, wanting to see if they could discover the cause behind the village’s strange flowering plants.

As they passed through the village and walked westward, it didn’t take long for Ling Feng to notice a small temple nestled in a mountain hollow. The building wasn’t large, spanning only a few square meters, and it was open-concept.

The temple housed a copper statue of a majestic general-like figure.

Noticing the red cloth strips draped over the statue and the incense ashes piled in the stone-carved burner outside, Ling Feng asked, "Village Chief Liu, it looks like the incense offerings at Mountain God Temple are pretty substantial!"

"Indeed! Folks from the surrounding ten villages often come to burn incense and make wishes—they believe the Mountain God is very effective!" Liu Fu said.

Ling Feng responded with an "Oh," not asking further questions.

This place didn’t seem particularly unique to him. From what his Divine Sense had detected, there was nothing at all unusual.

Glancing at Ye Qian, he noticed her frowning slightly and immediately asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing!"

Ye Qian shook her head before asking, "Village Chief Liu, are there any other households in the mountains?"

"Yes, there’s a small village called Gu Ta Village. However, there aren’t many households left—most of the young folks have moved out, leaving only a few elderly families behind!" Liu Fu answered.

Ye Qian nodded before turning to Ling Feng and said, "Let’s head further into the mountains to take a look!"

Upon hearing this, Liu Fu quickly interjected, "You’re planning to go to Gu Ta Village, aren’t you? The mountain paths aren’t easy to traverse, and it’s quite far—around three kilometers!"

"It’s okay. This distance isn’t really a big deal for us!"

Ling Feng chuckled, turning to address the villagers watching and said, "Everyone, stay put. We’re heading to Gu Ta Village for a look and will be back soon!"

The villagers exchanged glances. Though curious to follow and see what would happen, they found the distance a bit daunting and not worth the effort. Even the eager children reluctantly concluded that walking three kilometers into the mountains would be too tiring.

Thus, no one tagged along and they watched Ling Feng and the others disappear along the mountain path.

While hiking deeper into the mountains, Ling Feng looked at Ye Qian, "Did you notice something at Mountain God Temple?"

"Yes. I sensed a peculiar aura—it’s coming from the mountain," Ye Qian nodded.

"A peculiar aura?"

Ling Feng examined her, "Usually, when things like that appear, it’s due to an overwhelming concentration of Spiritual Energy. Are you sure it’s not Spiritual Energy?"

"No, it’s not. If it were Spiritual Energy, wouldn’t you have sensed it as well?" Ye Qian shook her head.

"That’s true—I didn’t sense anything at all." Ling Feng remarked with a wry smile.

Ye Qian nodded and said, "Exactly. This is the first time I’ve encountered such an aura. It doesn’t seem malicious."

"As long as it’s not malicious, that’s good!"

Ling Feng nodded, glancing at Chen Yan, "Why aren’t you saying anything?"

"I don’t know what to say,"

Chen Yan retorted with a bitter smile, "I don’t have skills as extraordinary as the two of you—I feel like I’m just here for moral support, completely useless!"

"Don’t say that! You have a strong cultivation level; how could you be useless?" Ye Qian reassured her.

"Exactly! If we encounter trouble later, you can go first!" Ling Feng teased.

Chen Yan gave him a sideways glance, "What, with you here, would it ever come to that?"

"Let’s just think of it as practice!"

Ling Feng laughed and continued walking into the mountains.
