The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1136: Making a Promissory Note

Chapter 1136: Making a Promissory Note

After a moment of doubt, Ling Feng scanned with his Divine Sense and discovered that the people standing outside weren’t Li Yan or Tian Hao, but two unfamiliar men.

Unsure of their intentions, he stepped outside with Tang Xiaoqian.

When Tang Xiaoqian saw the men outside, she froze for a moment before asking, "What are you doing here?"

"We’re here to remind you that winter is approaching. You’d better vacate the house quickly, or we’ll take it back by force!" said one of the men, the one with dark skin.

"I’ve already told you, this is my house, and you don’t have the right to take it back!" Tang Xiaoqian shouted.

"Even though you share the surname Tang, you’re still an outsider. This house belongs to the Tang family!" the man retorted.

"Tang Dabao, don’t push me too far! Old Tang may be missing, but he doesn’t have to be dead. If he comes back one day and sees you occupying his house by force, let’s see how you explain yourselves!" Tang Xiaoqian snapped in anger.

Tang Dabao sneered, "Not back for two years, and you still think he’s alive? What a fantasy! Let me tell you the truth—this house was built on our family’s land, and I was the one who paid for it to be constructed. It’s time to take it back now!"

Ling Feng, standing nearby, couldn’t make sense of it all. He turned his head and asked Tang Xiaoqian in confusion, "Sis, who are these two guys?"

"They’re my husband’s cousins!" Tang Xiaoqian replied through gritted teeth.

Ling Feng suddenly understood that there was a dispute going on here.

He then turned to Tang Dabao and said, "If you want to take back the house, at the very least you need evidence, don’t you? You can’t just take it without proof."

"And who are you? This is our family’s business, none of your outsider meddling is needed!"

Tang Dabao snapped back before glaring at Tang Xiaoqian with a mocking smile. "You keep insisting my cousin might come back, but here you are flirting with a random guy outside. Truly shameless!"

"You... You’re lying!"

Tang Xiaoqian became flustered at his accusations. Her face quickly flushed as she pointed at Tang Dabao, saying, "Stop slandering me!"

She felt confident because nothing had actually happened between her and Ling Feng. However, if something had happened that night, Tang Xiaoqian might have felt guilty instead.

"Sis, is this house actually theirs?" Ling Feng asked.

"This..."

Tang Xiaoqian hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, "The deed does have their names on it. Back then my husband trusted them and didn’t transfer ownership. Who knew something would happen to him, and now they’re scheming to take the house!"

"It wasn’t a big deal before, but now that you’re investing in the village, they think the property value might rise, so they’re eager to get their hands on it!"

After listening, Ling Feng nodded slightly and then glanced at Tang Dabao. "I see. Alright, how about this—you name a price. Tell me how much this house is worth, and I’ll pay you. Can we agree that you won’t come stirring up trouble anymore?"

"Who are you exactly?"

Surprised by Tang Xiaoqian’s statement, Tang Dabao stiffened and asked hesitantly.

"My name is Ling Feng."

"Are you the Ling Feng here for the land contracts?" Tang Dabao asked in shock.

"That’s me!"

Ling Feng nodded and said, "Alright, name your price. How much do you want?"

"I want... ten thousand!" Tang Dabao’s eyes lit up as he blurted out the amount.

"Alright, no problem!"

Ling Feng smiled and continued, "Once I give you the money, does that mean you won’t cause trouble here ever again?"

"That’s right! I can even write it down for you—a written promise that after this, the house fully belongs to Tang Xiaoqian, and I won’t ask for it anymore!" Tang Dabao replied eagerly.

"Good to hear!"

Ling Feng chuckled and turned to the man standing next to Tang Dabao. "What’s your name?"

The man was startled. "Why?"

"No reason, just want to take note. Later, I’ll tell the village chief to return your land to you. And let me make this clear—any development I do in Tang Family Village from now on will have nothing to do with you two!" Ling Feng said with a cold smile.

"What?"

Both Tang Dabao and the other man froze, completely bewildered.

The two exchanged glances, and the other man quickly said, "This has nothing to do with me! I only came along. I didn’t say anything!"

Ling Feng sneered, "Didn’t say anything? Just following along makes you complicit. What more needs to be said?"

"I..."

The man was at a loss. If things ended this way, Tang Dabao could still get his ten thousand yuan, but him? Not only would he get nothing, he might even lose the money he originally relied on!

Realizing his predicament, he hurriedly turned to Tang Dabao and said, "Let’s just drop it. Think about it—if you offend Ling Feng, do you think there’ll be any good consequences for us down the road?"

"I..."

Tang Dabao hesitated, lowering his head in deep conflict.

Seeing this, Ling Feng said, "I’ll give you a day to think about it. Once you’ve made your decision, come back—I’ll have the ten thousand yuan ready for you anytime!"

"No need, I’ve thought it through. Ling Feng, it’s my fault! I won’t come asking for the house again!"

Tang Dabao displayed a rare moment of shrewdness. Though ten thousand yuan was tempting, he recognized that Ling Feng was a big investor. With the simultaneous development of Shankou Village and Tang Family Village, following him could bring significant benefits. Pursuing short-term gains at the risk of losing long-term rewards would only lead to regrets.

"Smart decision. But since that’s the case, verbal promises aren’t reliable—you’d better draft a formal statement, so there are no surprises later!" Ling Feng said.

"Alright, alright, I’ll write it up right now!"

Tang Dabao nodded repeatedly, rushing to start.

At that moment, Mu Lingling stepped out of the house. "No need. Wait a few minutes; I’ll write the statement for you. All you need to do is sign and seal it!"

"Fine by me!" Tang Dabao replied promptly.

Mu Lingling went inside to draft a written promise. The document stated that Tang Dabao formally relinquished all claims to the house, which now exclusively belonged to Tang Xiaoqian. Furthermore, he pledged never to revisit the matter.

Ling Feng watched as Tang Dabao signed and sealed the promise before addressing him: "It’s hard enough for a woman to manage on her own, and yet you chose to bully her. Do you realize your mistake now?"

"Yes, yes, I understand. Ling Feng, you’re generous for not holding grudges. We were just too desperate and blinded by money," Tang Dabao said with a servile smile.

The matter was settled. There was no point in dragging it on.

Ling Feng nodded in satisfaction. "Alright, you can leave now!"

Tang Dabao and the man finally sighed in relief, turning and hastily walking away.

After watching them leave, Ling Feng turned to Tang Xiaoqian and Mu Lingling. "A minor hiccup, but it’s done now."

"Thank you, Ling Feng," Tang Xiaoqian said, her eyes reddening.

"Thank me for what? Do you think I’d stand by and watch you get bullied?"

Ling Feng chuckled before patting her on the head. "Alright, I’ll head back for now. I’ll come by later this afternoon!"

With that, he turned and left, leaving the two women staring at his departing figure.

After Ling Feng’s silhouette disappeared, Tang Xiaoqian turned to Mu Lingling and said, "It’s a pity he has a girlfriend. Otherwise, I would’ve tried pairing you two together!"
