Chapter 1135: Past Events
Chapter 1135: Past Events
Ling Feng sat in the car, staring at the situation upstairs, feeling a wave of speechlessness in his heart.
He had no interest in listening to the two people’s meaningless chatter; all he wanted was to hear them talk about Mu Lingling.
Unfortunately, it seemed he had missed it, as he didn’t hear them mention her at all.
But after a while, Tian Hao suddenly asked, "What’s your plan for that guy with the surname Ling?"
"First, find Mu Lingling, then force the guy with the surname Ling to come out. I want them both dead!" Li Yan replied.
The words were spoken casually, as if two lives were worthless in her eyes.
And Tian Hao wasn’t surprised at all; he grinned and said, "Alright, but there are too many nosy people in Tang Family Village. We’ll need to figure out a way to lure them into the wild."
"Don’t worry, once night falls and everything is quiet, no one will see," Li Yan said.
"Coincidentally, I have two friends coming over today. When the time comes, we’ll hand Mu Lingling over to them, and you can enjoy a good show. How’s that?" Tian Hao asked.
Li Yan’s face lit up with joy as soon as she heard this. "Great, that’s even better!"
In the car, Ling Feng’s face had already turned grim. He hadn’t expected this shameless pair to be so utterly devoid of morals!
If it weren’t for the people he was waiting for, he would’ve already charged upstairs!
Suppressing his fury, Ling Feng drove off from Hongqi Town, fearing he might lose control if he stayed.
He initially planned to wait for the people Li Yan had called over and eliminate them all, but after some thought, he realized that doing so would mean Mu Lingling wouldn’t see the darkness in people’s hearts!
So Ling Feng decided to give her a lesson, to let her understand the true faces of her friends!
Of course, Mu Lingling would undoubtedly be hurt by this, but Ling Feng felt it was necessary for her to grow. At worst, she could take a few days to recover.
Leaving Hongqi Town, Ling Feng didn’t return to Shankou Village. Instead, he drove straight to Tang Family Village’s elementary school.
He didn’t have Mu Lingling’s phone number, so he could only shout from outside the wall. Mu Lingling, who was preparing lesson plans in the dormitory, heard him and stepped out.
"Brother Ling, you’re here! Are you looking for me?"
Ling Feng smiled faintly. "I have something to talk to you about."
"Oh, then come on in," Mu Lingling said as she opened the iron gate.
Ling Feng followed her into the dormitory. While surveilling Li Yan and Tian Hao earlier, he had already studied the room’s layout. It was quite simple, with a small kitchen and just a bed and desk in the bedroom.
Mu Lingling sat on the edge of the bed and offered the chair to Ling Feng, then asked, "Brother Ling, what’s the matter?"
Ling Feng didn’t rush to answer. Instead, he picked up a photo frame on the desk. The photo inside featured five people—two men and three women. Ling Feng asked, "Who are these people?"
"My classmates. Li Yan and Tian Hao are in the photo," Mu Lingling replied.
Ling Feng stared at the photograph and finally recognized the two of them.
The photo had been taken at least a year ago; back then, they hadn’t left school yet. Their faces were still youthful, quite different from now.
Ling Feng looked at the other two, a man and a woman, and curiously asked, "Who are these two?"
"Our classmates too. One’s named Li Tong, and the other’s Hu Xue," Mu Lingling replied.
Ling Feng made an acknowledging sound before asking, "Where are these two working now?"
"Well..."
Mu Lingling’s expression darkened. She sighed and said, "Li Tong has passed away, and Hu Xue went missing. She still hasn’t been found."
"Oh?"
Ling Feng narrowed his eyes. "Is that so?"
"Yes, back when we were in school, the five of us were closest. But I didn’t expect things to turn out this way. I was heartbroken for a long time before I finally got over it," Mu Lingling said.
Ling Feng looked at her. "What happened to Li Tong? Why did he die?"
"He accidentally fell off a cliff. We were hiking at the time, and he insisted on venturing outside the scenic area. That’s when it happened," Mu Lingling explained.
"I see. And Hu Xue went missing after that?" Ling Feng asked.
"No, she disappeared later, about half a month afterward. She left school and never came back," Mu Lingling said.
Ling Feng fell silent.
After a while, he asked, "Was Li Tong your boyfriend?"
"No. He was very good to me, but I felt I was still young and didn’t want to be tied down, so I declined," Mu Lingling replied.
Ling Feng made another acknowledging sound and continued to ask, "Did Li Yan and Hu Xue both like Li Tong?"
"Well, maybe? We often joked about it while hanging out, but I’m not sure if they really liked him," Mu Lingling replied.
By now, Ling Feng had pieced together the key details. It seemed Li Yan’s hatred for Mu Lingling might be rooted in Li Tong!
These answers could have been easily verified; all Ling Feng needed to do was capture Li Yan and read her thoughts directly. But he was asking Mu Lingling these questions mainly to help her realize the truth herself.
After asking what he wanted, Ling Feng looked at her and said, "You’ll be staying in the dorm all day today, right? You won’t go out?"
"Yes, I need to prepare lesson plans and midterm exam papers. Is something wrong, Brother Ling?" Mu Lingling asked.
"Nothing’s wrong. Just stay in the dorm until it gets dark. I might come by tonight," Ling Feng said.
"Huh?"
Mu Lingling froze for a moment, then blushed. "You’re coming to see me tonight?"
"Don’t misunderstand. Something might happen tonight; I’m just giving you a heads-up. As for what it is, I won’t say more to avoid affecting your mood!" Ling Feng explained.
Mu Lingling sighed in response, "You’ve already affected my mood!"
"Uh..."
Ling Feng chuckled awkwardly and said, "How about you focus on your work for now? You might forget about this later!"
"Alright."
Mu Lingling glanced at him, then asked, "What time are you coming?"
"I’m not sure yet. Probably in the afternoon," Ling Feng replied.
After thinking for a moment, he added, "Why not prepare your lesson plans at Sister Xiaoqian’s house? She has that big black dog; even if someone comes, they won’t dare to mess around!"
"..."
Mu Lingling looked even more confused. She asked in bewilderment, "What exactly is going to happen? Are bad people coming for me?"
"Something like that," Ling Feng admitted, finding it hard to explain further. His face was full of helplessness.
Seeing his expression, Mu Lingling chose not to press further. She nodded and said, "Alright, I’ll head over now!"
"Okay, I’ll take you there!"
After tidying up, the two left the dormitory and went to Tang Xiaoqian’s house.
Ling Feng stayed for a while before preparing to leave, but just then, Big Black’s barking rang out from the yard—someone had arrived!
Ling Feng froze, wondering if Li Yan and her group had come earlier than planned. Were they ahead of schedule?
