The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1118: Confession

Chapter 1118: Confession

Pete chuckled, "It’s exactly because it was on a plane that something went wrong!"

Without waiting for Ling Feng to ask more, he immediately added, "Latest news—the plane crashed!"

"What the hell? Really? Is the information accurate?" Ling Feng widened his eyes and asked.

"Of course it’s accurate. I wouldn’t tell you unless I was completely sure!" Pete replied.

"Alright, got it!"

Ling Feng nodded and hung up the phone.

And then, he couldn’t help but burst out laughing!

Hehua noticed his reaction and asked curiously, "What’s up, Brother Ling? You’re so happy?"

"Oh, one of my sworn enemies was on that plane, something happened to him—chances are he won’t make it!" Ling Feng said with a grin.

"...."

Hehua was dumbfounded.

Seeing her reaction, Ling Feng asked in confusion, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing."

Hehua’s eyes flickered and she lowered her head.

Ling Feng persisted, "Come on, why bring it up and then not say anything? What’s the matter?"

"Uh, I was just thinking... there were probably many other people on that plane, right?" Hehua said, still with her head down.

"Well..."

Ling Feng froze for a moment, then understood what she meant. He smiled wryly and said, "You’re right—it’s my bad. Being so thrilled about it isn’t right. After all, the other passengers were innocent."

"Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking." Hehua nodded.

Ling Feng looked at her and said, "I never realized you were so kind-hearted—you’ve thought about this even more carefully than I have."

Hehua rubbed the hem of her clothes nervously and said, "It’s nothing like that."

While the two were talking, Chen Yuhe’s figure appeared on the hillside, followed by quite a few people.

As she descended, those people stopped walking and simply stood there, watching her as she went down the mountain.

When she came closer, Ling Feng teased her, "Did those people up there treat you like some kind of goddess? Were they about to put you on a pedestal?"

"Sort of—their enthusiasm is almost overwhelming!"

Chen Yuhe smiled wryly, then added, "Although, Tang Family Village does have some excellent farmland—more than 200 acres of prime flatland!"

"Interested? Got any plans for it?" Ling Feng asked.

"Still farming, but maybe I’ll switch things up—plant something different," Chen Yuhe replied.

"Alright, whatever you say!" Ling Feng nodded.

"You guys keep chatting—I won’t disturb you. I’m headed back to find Wan’er!"

Chen Yuhe shot a glance at Hehua and then glared at Ling Feng before turning to leave.

Ling Feng was speechless. This is what people mean when they say you can’t clear your name even if you jump into the Yellow River!

Knowing that no explanation would work, he simply gave up.

After Chen Yuhe walked away, Ling Feng turned to Hehua. "What are your plans for the rest of the day?"

"Nothing much—it’s almost noon. I’m heading home to make lunch," Hehua replied.

"Alright, head home then—I’ll head back myself too," Ling Feng said.

But then Hehua looked up and said, "Why don’t you come with me? My... my parents aren’t home right now."

Ling Feng paused, "Where did they go?"

"They went to town—they probably won’t be back until evening," Hehua explained.

"Oh, but wouldn’t me going to your house be... inappropriate? If people in the village saw, they’d start gossiping!" Ling Feng said.

Hehua lowered her head, "It doesn’t matter—I don’t care."

Hearing this, Ling Feng felt a twinge in his heart and then nodded, "Alright, let’s go."

"Okay!"

Hehua pursed her lips, clearly delighted—her steps became noticeably more cheerful and lively!

When they arrived at her home, it turned out that He Ping’an and her mom really weren’t around.

"Brother Ling, have a seat inside—I’ll have lunch ready in no time!" Hehua said as she quickly started bustling around.

Watching her work so efficiently, Ling Feng couldn’t help but smile, "I don’t like freeloading—I’ll help too!"

"You know how to cook?" Hehua asked.

"Ha! Don’t underestimate me—just watch, I’ll show you some skills!" Ling Feng laughed.

After working side by side, the dishes were finally ready. When Hehua eagerly tasted a bite, her eyes lit up. "Wow, Brother Ling, your cooking is amazing!"

"Told you my culinary skills can stand up to scrutiny!" Ling Feng laughed.

"Your girlfriend must be so lucky!" Hehua said.

Ling Feng laughed awkwardly, choosing not to address her comment, and instead changed the topic, "If you like it, eat more—I’m not really that hungry."

"Alright!"

Hehua nodded and didn’t try to play coy, picking up her bowl and digging in.

After lunch, the two tidied up the dishes. Ling Feng then said, "I should head back now."

"Won’t you stay a while? I just boiled some water—I was about to make tea!" Hehua asked.

The mention of tea stopped Ling Feng in his tracks—the aroma of tea leaves convinced him to stay. He chuckled, "Alright, sure."

A little while later, the tea was ready. Ling Feng took a sip and looked satisfied, "This is some excellent tea!"

Seeing his response, Hehua smiled. "Once we have lots of this tea in the future, you can drink it every day if you want!"

"Oh, I’m such a workaholic—I barely have time to sit and enjoy tea—or even to boil water!" Ling Feng sighed.

Hehua blinked and then lowered her head, "If you’d let me, I’d stay by your side... brewing tea for you every day."

"Huh?"

Ling Feng froze, completely stunned!

A confession this direct—it was definitely a first for him.

In the past, it was always him chasing a girl shamelessly—but now the roles were reversed, and he was the one being pursued!

Seeing Hehua’s flushed face, Ling Feng snapped back to reality and knew he couldn’t stay silent. He smiled wryly and replied, "You silly girl, don’t you already know I have a girlfriend?"

"It doesn’t matter—I don’t care," Hehua said softly.

"Uh..."

Although Ling Feng felt secretly pleased, he also found the situation a bit tricky. He sighed, "Honestly, my personal situation is more complicated than you might think."

"Really? Could it be that the girls from earlier—those two older ones—are all your girlfriends?" Hehua asked.

"No way—they’re just my friends!" Ling Feng quickly clarified.

"Oh."

Hehua nodded as though suddenly enlightened, then lowered her head again. "I still don’t mind."

Ling Feng, feeling a surge of emotion, couldn’t resist and grabbed her hand.

Hehua blushed deeply—her ears turned red as she kept her gaze down, too shy to meet his eyes, her breathing quickening noticeably.

After a brief pause, Ling Feng chuckled, "I understand how you feel—but there’s no need to rush. Let’s take our time to get to know each other better."

"Alright."

Hehua’s voice was soft as a whisper.

...

...

By evening, Chen Yuhe returned to Little Lian’s house and saw Ling Feng lying in a chair. She teased him, "What’s wrong? Your Hehua didn’t come?"

"It’s almost dark—what would she come over for?"

Ling Feng replied helplessly before sitting up straight and asking, "Are you staying here tonight or heading back to Nine Heavens?"

"Would my staying here disturb you?" Chen Yuhe asked with a mischievous smile.

Ling Feng nodded seriously, "Of course, having you here means we’d have to continue with our ’child-making plan,’ and that’s exhausting, okay?"

Chen Yuhe’s face turned red. "Ugh, stop that—such nonsense!"
