The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1117: Major Event

Chapter 1117: Major Event

Zhang He looked at Ling Feng, "Why are there so many incidents like this?"

"It’s a long story. We just figured this out earlier!"

Ling Feng let out a bitter smile and recounted their earlier speculation.

"Oh my god, seriously?"

Zhang He nearly jumped up after hearing this. "If it’s true, is Hu Tiesheng really planning to build a zombie army?"

"Hard to say, but his motives are definitely suspicious!" Ling Feng replied.

"This won’t do. I need to report this immediately. This matter is too big!"

Zhang He was visibly agitated and got up to leave.

Ling Feng quickly stopped him, "Don’t rush. Make sure to remind the higher-ups to check the backgrounds of anyone involved in those cases of mysteriously vanished corpses from the cemeteries."

"Got it!"

Zhang He acknowledged and headed to the basement with quick steps.

Half an hour later, he returned, and Ling Feng immediately asked, "How did it go?"

"Director Han is taking this very seriously. The matter will immediately have the local security bureau cooperate with the police to launch an investigation!"

Zhang He explained and looked at Ling Feng. "Also, Director Han told me to let you know that once the data is consolidated, someone will be sent to deliver it to you directly. You must find out where the corpses went!"

"Understood."

Ling Feng nodded and stood up, "Alright, I’m heading out."

Back in Shankou Village, Ling Feng headed straight toward the construction site.

Before he even arrived, he heard a commotion ahead. Sweeping a quick glance, Ling Feng was momentarily stunned.

The villagers were fighting!

On one side were the people from Shankou Village, and on the other side were people Ling Feng didn’t recognize—he’d never seen them before.

At the moment, Chen Yan and Ye Qian were trying to maintain order, preventing the two groups from clashing again.

Judging from the scene, it looked like the two groups had already fought once earlier—some people were even sporting bruises and swollen faces.

Frowning, Ling Feng stepped forward and asked, "What’s going on here?"

"Mr. Ling, you came just in time! These people heard we’re building a stadium here, and they came to stir up trouble, claiming this land belongs to them and insisting we stop construction!" Hu Dalin quickly explained.

Ling Feng was taken aback, then glanced around the construction site. Not seeing any sign of Chen Yuhe, he turned back to Chen Yan and asked, "Where’s Yuhe?"

"She went to the neighboring village, just past the mountain over there!" Chen Yan replied.

"What’s she doing there?" Ling Feng asked, puzzled.

"That village has a large stretch of flat farmland. The locals hope we’ll consider developing it as well," Chen Yan explained.

Ling Feng nodded in realization, then turned to look at the villagers causing trouble. Raising his voice, he asked, "Who’s in charge around here?"

Recognizing him as the investor, the villagers’ attitude softened considerably. Soon, an elderly man with a goatee stepped forward. "Sir, I’m the Village Chief of the neighboring Tang Family Village. My name is Tang Wansheng."

"Village Chief Tang, you should know very well whose land this is. If there’s any confusion, just go to the township office to verify it. Bringing people here to halt construction like this isn’t appropriate, is it?" Ling Feng asked.

"Uh..."

Tang Wansheng let out a sheepish laugh, nodding as he spoke, "You’re right. It’s just... we didn’t know what else to do. The people from Shankou Village have been holding their heads high lately, looking down on others with their noses in the air—it’s unbearable!"

"Our villagers are envious, who wouldn’t want to make more money? But we don’t even know you, Mr. Ling!"

Hearing this, Ling Feng was speechless.

Their implication was clear—they were just trying to get his attention with this stunt?

What kind of tactic was this?

Letting out a helpless sigh, Ling Feng looked at Tang Wansheng. "My friend is already visiting your village, isn’t she? What more are you trying to achieve with this?"

"But visiting doesn’t mean agreeing to invest, does it?" Tang Wansheng asked, confused.

"Pretty much. No need for all the fuss. Once I’ve decided to contribute to the prosperity of this area, it won’t just be Shankou Village alone—everyone in the surrounding villages will benefit!" Ling Feng said.

Hearing this, the people from Tang Family Village finally exhaled in relief. Someone immediately shouted, "Mr. Ling truly is a great man!"

"A kind heart like a Bodhisattva!"

"You’ll be our benefactor from now on!"

As the crowd began flattering him, Ling Feng let out a resigned chuckle. "Alright, that’s enough. Everyone go home now. If you’re injured, make sure to take care of yourselves!"

Turning to Hu Dalin, he continued, "You all too—head back home. Fighting amongst neighbors isn’t worth it."

"It’s just the way things are around here. Harsh land breeds unruly people!" Hu Dalin grumbled indifferently.

Clearly, he wasn’t happy with Tang Wansheng and his group’s actions and hadn’t let it go yet.

But since Ling Feng had spoken, he had no choice but to comply, leading the villagers back home.

As the crowd dispersed, Ling Feng wore a wry smile.

At that moment, Chen Yan and the others approached. "If there’s nothing more, we’ll head back now!"

"Oh? Not staying a bit longer?" Ling Feng asked.

"No, there’s not much for us to do here. Nine Heavens is way more interesting!" Yang Guang chimed in.

Ling Feng glanced at her, "Why do you say there’s nothing interesting here—the mountains, the trees, the distant forest? Isn’t that wonderful?"

Yang Guang rolled her eyes, "My family already has that. I don’t need it!"

"Alright then, you all go ahead. If anything comes up, I’ll come find you!" Ling Feng nodded.

Little Lian was among the group, and Ling Feng asked her, "Lian, are you heading back too?"

"Yes, I’ll go prepare food for everyone and get caught up on the situation at home!" Little Lian nodded.

Ling Feng smiled, "Much appreciated."

"It’s no trouble. I actually enjoy it—makes me feel like I’m contributing to something meaningful!" Little Lian said with a smile.

Watching them leave, Ling Feng turned to look at the construction site. The excavators and bulldozers were working autonomously, and the grounds were nearly leveled now.

At that moment, Hehua unexpectedly approached, her eyes flickering as if she wanted to say something.

Ling Feng glanced at her, "What’s the matter?"

"Who are those girls from earlier?" Hehua asked.

"Oh, they’re my friends. They’re helping investigate that cemetery issue on the mountain!" Ling Feng explained.

"Oh, so where are they from? The town?" Hehua continued.

Ling Feng hesitated for a moment, noticing her probing gaze. He could tell she was suspicious, though he wasn’t sure exactly why. He knew that Chen Yan and the others definitely weren’t locals.

After thinking for a second, Ling Feng smiled. "I know what you’re wondering. They’re not from the town; they arrived by other means from a very far-off place!"

"And what about Lian? Did she leave with them too?" Hehua persisted.

"Well..."

Ling Feng was momentarily stumped.

Luckily, just then, his phone rang, breaking the awkward moment. He quickly answered the call.

"Boss, we’ve got breaking news—Kong Sheng is in trouble!" Pete reported.

"Wasn’t he supposed to be on a plane? What happened?" Ling Feng asked, puzzled.
