The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1114: Accident Happened

Chapter 1114: Accident Happened

Ling Feng froze for a moment, thinking to himself, the communication lines haven’t been extended into the mountains yet, so how is there a phone call coming through?

Looking at the source, it was the satellite phone ringing, not his own cell phone.

He quickly answered, asking, "Who is this?"

"Boss, it’s me, Pete!"

Ling Feng let out an "oh": "What’s up? Is there some movement on Kong Sheng’s side?"

"That’s right, the guy got out!" Pete said.

"Oh, and then?"

Ling Feng chuckled, feeling like Kong Sheng no longer held any importance in his mind and didn’t care much.

But Pete added, "The guy looks like he shed a layer of skin or something. I almost didn’t recognize him when I saw him today!"

"You’re just telling me this? Don’t bother me with useless news in the future!" Ling Feng replied.

"No, there’s more. After the punishment was lifted, the kid had a recuperation period. He reported to the higher-ups that he’s heading to Dongying, and they’ve approved it!" Pete explained.

"What’s he going to Dongying for?"

Ling Feng froze and muttered under his breath.

"I don’t know about that. Anyway, he returned to his residence, and by now he might already be on the plane!" Pete said.

"Alright, noted. Keep an eye on the follow-up!"

Ling Feng said a word, then hung up the phone.

Turning to look at Chen Yuhe, he saw she had no interest in the news about Kong Sheng, staring blankly out the window instead.

Looking at her profile, an urge of affection arose in Ling Feng, and he reached out to wrap his arm around Chen Yuhe’s shoulder: "What’s on your mind?"

"Nothing."

Chen Yuhe shook her head and replied lightly.

But after a brief silence, she suddenly lowered her head: "After getting through this busy spell, I want to take a good rest!"

"Sounds great. Wherever you want to go, I’ll go with you!" Ling Feng said.

"Are you serious?" Chen Yuhe looked up and asked.

"Of course!" Ling Feng nodded.

Chen Yuhe gave a bitter smile: "I’m afraid you won’t have the time when the moment comes!"

"I don’t think so. I’ll make time for it!" Ling Feng replied.

"No need to push yourself!"

Chen Yuhe said softly, her gaze flickering: "Rather than accompanying me, maybe it would be better to..."

Seeing that she didn’t finish her thought, Ling Feng asked curiously, "Better to what?"

Chen Yuhe blushed, then said, "Better to let me be like Shiyun..."

"Hmm?"

Ling Feng froze, then understood her meaning, chuckling as he asked, "Why did this thought suddenly occur to you?"

"I see Shiyun now—her face full of happiness, her eyes glowing with maternal radiance—I really envy her!" Chen Yuhe said.

"Is that so?"

Ling Feng realized, then grinned cheekily: "That’s easy. We just need to work a little harder, and I’m sure there’ll be results!"

As he spoke, his hand began to misbehave, sliding straight into Chen Yuhe’s collar!

"Ah! You rascal, there are people in the house!"

Chen Yuhe’s face turned even redder as she quickly swatted his hand away.

Ling Feng laughed: "Don’t worry, Hehua is in the inner room. We can go upstairs!"

Before Chen Yuhe could respond, he scooped her up directly.

"Why are you so impulsive?"

Chen Yuhe softly smacked him, her face filled with shy helplessness.

Though she spoke that way, the joy in her eyes couldn’t be hidden.

Ling Feng grinned, carrying her upstairs while saying, "It’s mostly because dawn hasn’t broken yet, and we’re idle anyway, right?"

"You’re impossible!"

Chen Yuhe rolled her eyes and lightly slapped him!

...

...

After daybreak, Hehua woke up naturally. Opening her eyes, she saw Ling Feng sitting at the bedside and smiled: "Brother Ling, did you really sit here all night?"

"Pretty much. After you fell asleep, I went out for a bit and worked out!" Ling Feng replied with a meaningful smile.

"Oh, thank you, Brother Ling!" Hehua smiled.

"No problem. After sleeping through the night, you’re not scared anymore, are you?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.

"Not scared anymore, it’s much better now!" Hehua said.

Ling Feng nodded: "That’s good. Just don’t follow me around so casually in the future!"

"Oh."

Hehua blushed and got out of bed.

After washing up, she said to Ling Feng, "Brother Ling, come to my house for breakfast?"

"No, everyone at the construction site has already started work. I need to check on them!" Ling Feng said.

"Huh? So early?" Hehua was stunned.

Ling Feng chuckled: "Silly girl, it’s already past eight in the morning. Is that still early?"

"It’s already this late?"

Hehua looked confused, then quickly added, "I need to hurry home; otherwise, my parents will worry!"

Ling Feng thought to himself, you should’ve gone home last night, but now you’re worried?!

He didn’t say it aloud, though, just nodded and said, "Let’s go together."

The two left Little Lian’s house and parted ways at the west end of the village.

Ling Feng headed to the construction site. The barren hill there had already changed its appearance—a portion had been leveled, and before long, a massive pig farm capable of housing over two thousand pigs would stand here.

That number wasn’t immense, but with Ling Feng’s methods, the pigs would grow quickly, ensuring a steady production of ham in the future.

Standing at the edge of the site for a while, Ling Feng was about to look for Chen Yuhe when he spotted someone rushing out of the village, running toward him in a panic.

It was Hu Dalin, who hurried over with a distressed expression. Ling Feng stopped and asked, "What’s the matter? Why are you in such a rush?"

"Ling... Ling sir, something’s happened!"

Hu Dalin gasped for breath and stammered.

Ling Feng’s heart sank: "Don’t panic. Tell me slowly, what’s wrong?"

"My... my family’s ancestral grave has been dug up by someone!" Hu Dalin said.

"What?"

Ling Feng froze, utterly stunned.

The surrounding villagers couldn’t resist teasing: "What’s up, Village Chief? Have you done something shady lately?"

"Get lost!"

Hu Dalin turned back to curse, then faced Ling Feng again: "Ling sir, could you come take a look? This seems really strange!"

"Strange how?" Ling Feng asked.

"The grave... it looks like it was opened from the inside. I didn’t dare check closely. Do you think it’s possible my ancestor’s corpse crawled out?" Hu Dalin said.

This remark made everyone burst into laughter. They felt it was ridiculous—after so many years, the body would’ve long decayed. How could it crawl out?

But Ling Feng didn’t find it funny. His brows furrowed as he said, "Alright, I’ll go take a look."

Now regarded as a local expert, Ling Feng’s decision to investigate intrigued everyone. A crowd followed him as he headed over.

Trailing behind Hu Dalin, they crossed a valley, passed through a forest, and then walked along a narrow mountain path up the slope. Ling Feng’s heart grew heavier with every step.

The place Hu Dalin was leading him to—could it be that ancient tomb, the one that had been robbed?
