Chapter 1103: Investment
Chapter 1103: Investment
Ling Feng chuckled when he heard this: "I didn’t expect you to be so traditional!"
"Of course I am. Did you just figure that out?" Yu Linglong rolled her eyes at him.
After their tender moment, Ling Feng didn’t linger. He planted another kiss on her cheek and left the stone house.
Though it was quite late, the First Layer of Heaven was still lively. Everyone was chatting and laughing with Little Lian, successfully helping her adjust and feel at home.
When Ling Feng returned, he looked at her and asked, "Do you like it here?"
"Yeah, it’s nice. Feels even more comfortable than where I live back home!" Little Lian replied.
"If you like it, then stay here more often in the future. Don’t bother with that restaurant anymore!" Ling Feng said with a smile.
Hearing this, Li Fei’er immediately chimed in, "Sister Lian, you know how to cook?"
"Yeah, kind of. I couldn’t afford to hire a chef, so I cooked everything myself at the restaurant," Little Lian responded.
"Then..."
Li Fei’er’s face lit up as if she wanted to say something, but suddenly she thought of something and held her tongue.
Seeing her like this, Ling Feng seemed to figure it out and said with a smirk, "You little rascal, I can’t believe what you’re thinking!"
"Hehe, it was just a random idea that popped into my head, but since Sister Lian is now one of our ’protected members,’ let’s forget about it," Li Fei’er said with an awkward chuckle.
Little Lian was confused by their exchange and asked, "What are you two talking about?"
"Oh, nothing. Now that Sister Yu Mei has become the Village Chief, we still need a good cook here. I was thinking about trying your cooking skills!"
Li Fei’er grinned and added, "But since you’re pregnant, it’s obviously not something you can do!"
"Oh," Little Lian replied with a helpless smile. "I still don’t know how you’re so sure I’m pregnant, but I don’t feel anything yet, so helping out with cooking shouldn’t be a problem. Otherwise, I’d just be idle staying here!"
Ling Feng nodded in agreement. What had happened earlier that afternoon would only show pregnancy symptoms in about four or five months, so there was no need to be overly cautious just yet.
So, he said, "In that case, you can help out a bit. We’ve got a lot of people here, and honestly, nobody’s cooking is as good as yours!"
"Alright, leave it to me!" Little Lian nodded in agreement.
Early the next morning, Ling Feng left for Little Lian’s house by himself. Afterward, he headed to Zhao Sanquan’s place.
As soon as he entered, he asked, "Uncle San, is there any large plot of open land in our village?"
"Huh? What do you need that for?"
Seeing Ling Feng in such a hurry, Zhao Sanquan asked in confusion.
"I want to start a project here—raise pigs and grow tea!" Ling Feng explained.
Zhao Sanquan was taken aback. "Are you serious? Those kinds of things require a huge investment—at least a few hundred thousand, right?"
Ling Feng chuckled. "More than that. It’s probably going to be on the scale of several million, but I still need the land first."
"Uh..."
Hearing the figure "several million," Zhao Sanquan’s legs gave way, and he plopped onto the edge of the bed.
After a moment of stunned silence, he regained his composure and said, "There’s land, and I can help you arrange it, but you’ll have to agree to one condition of mine!"
"Go ahead, Uncle San," Ling Feng nodded.
"You can’t hog all the benefits for yourself. At the very least, the people in our village should get jobs out of it!" Zhao Sanquan said.
Ling Feng laughed. "Uncle San, what kind of person do you think I am? Do you think I’d keep everything for myself?"
He continued, "I’m not doing this to make money. My main goal is to create a path to prosperity for our villagers!"
"That’s great! On behalf of the people of Shankou Village, I thank you!" Zhao Sanquan said excitedly.
Ling Feng waved his hand. "No need for that. If it weren’t for tasting that delicious tea and extraordinary ham, I wouldn’t have thought of this idea!"
"Alright, alright. Come with me. Let’s go find the Village Chief to talk about arranging the land!"
Filled with excitement, Zhao Sanquan grabbed Ling Feng and headed out.
Ling Feng let out a bitter laugh in his heart. He had just beaten Hu Ergou to a pulp last night, and now he had to seek out Hu Dalin. This wasn’t going to be easy.
But since they’d come this far, there was no point in backing down. Without saying anything, Ling Feng followed behind Zhao Sanquan, and the two headed straight for Hu Dalin’s house.
When they entered the courtyard, Hu Dalin and his wife immediately came out of the house.
But neither of them dared to meet Ling Feng’s gaze. Instead, they turned to Zhao Sanquan. "Uncle San, you’re here."
"Dalin, Mr. Ling wants to invest in our village. I think the barren slope behind the hill would be ideal. What do you think?" Zhao Sanquan asked.
"Invest?"
Hu Dalin was stunned and glanced at Ling Feng in surprise.
Ling Feng nodded. "That’s right. I’m planning to invest around ten million. If that’s not enough, I’m willing to put in more."
"What?!"
Hu Dalin froze, his eyelids twitching uncontrollably.
Seeing his hesitation, Ling Feng said, "Tell you what. If you agree, I’ll take care of helping Hu Ergou heal his leg. But there’s one condition—he has to recognize his mistakes and promise to stop bullying people from now on!"
"Mr. Ling, you misunderstand. An investment is an investment; the issue with my son is a separate matter. I asked around last night and understood the situation. You were already merciful enough not to beat him to death!" Hu Dalin replied.
It turned out that the couple hadn’t been idle last night. They had used their farm truck to take their son to the hospital and later found out the truth about what had happened.
This morning, Hu Dalin had also learned about Ling Feng’s background from Director Li, and he realized that Ling Feng was not someone he could afford to offend.
Everything he said now was genuine. He truly recognized his mistakes.
Hearing this, Ling Feng was somewhat surprised. He nodded and said, "Alright then, let’s first discuss the investment. We’ll handle his injuries later."
"Okay!"
Hu Dalin nodded and added, "That barren slope is divided among various villagers. But don’t worry, I’ll call for a meeting and make sure everyone agrees to lease it to you!"
"Good. I’ll wait. Just remember, I’m not buying the land. I want the villagers to contribute their land as shares. That way, everyone will have a job and a share of the profits each year!" Ling Feng explained.
Hu Dalin was stunned, his mouth agape. Was this really happening? It felt like a gift falling from the sky!
Excitedly, he rushed back into the house and used the broadcast system to announce a village meeting.
The loudspeaker rang out across the entire village. Within half an hour, people from every household had arrived!
Though the village only had about twenty households, the turnout was around seventy to eighty people. It seemed that everyone who was home had shown up.
After Hu Dalin explained Ling Feng’s plan to build a pig farm and grow tea, something unexpected happened. Instead of being thrilled, the villagers seemed skeptical and started whispering among themselves.
To break the silence, Zhao Sanquan was the first to stand up and declare, "I agree to let Ling Feng use my family’s land. It’s been lying idle anyway, not doing any good!"
"I agree too! I trust Mr. Ling’s abilities!" He Ping’an shouted loudly.
