The Billionaire CEO Wants to Marry Me Every Day

Chapter 167: Anomaly

Chapter 167: Anomaly

Summer Monroe let go of her hand and said calmly, "Alright, the ticket is for tomorrow. Don’t alert anyone; just quietly get the child out. I promise to return you a healthy child."

Leah Lowell’s heart began to race, tears welling up in her eyes. She said, "Thank you, Miss. From the first day you returned, I knew you weren’t an ordinary person. But, you haven’t told me what you want me to do?"

"I want to know... about my mother."

As soon as Summer finished speaking, Leah’s face turned pale, as if she had mentioned something terrifying.

"What’s wrong?" Summer asked. "Why such a reaction?"

Leah lowered her voice and said, "Mentioning the former mistress is taboo in this household; it’s forbidden for anyone to speak of her. If the master found out, we’d all be in big trouble. Even the mistress doesn’t like to hear anything about the former mistress..."

Summer frowned. "Don’t worry, your mistress is currently staying obediently at a temple and won’t return. As for my father, he’s busy balancing accounts and won’t come over. So, tell me everything you know about my mother."

Leah didn’t speak immediately; she went outside to close the door first, then returned.

"Miss, among us senior servants, there’s actually a rumor that the master and the mistress conspired to murder the former mistress. After all... how could the sister-in-law marry her brother-in-law?"

"Rumor?" Summer shook her head. "I don’t want rumors; just tell me what you know. Start from the day my mother had the accident. Was there anything unusual that day?"

Leah carefully recalled and began, "That day was actually quite normal. After taking you to kindergarten, the former mistress went to work, and then... we received news that she jumped off the top floor of the company."

Summer’s expression grew heavy. "I know all that. Tell me something I don’t know. Think carefully, wasn’t there anything unusual that day?"

"As for unusual... there was. The master usually sleeps in late and then goes out to play cards. But that day, he got up very early and went out wearing a suit, not his usual casual attire for playing cards. I remember it well because he rarely wore suits before."

Summer bit her lip gently in thought.

It seemed her suspicions were almost certainly correct; her mother’s death might indeed be related to Henry Stanton.

But this wasn’t enough.

"What else?"

"I really can’t remember much else unusual about that day. But at the funeral, the current mistress was crying very sadly. Their relationship as sisters wasn’t good, actually. I hadn’t had children yet, and the mistress wasn’t living at the manor, so... if you’re suspecting the former mistress’s death has something to do with the mistress, I’m afraid I can’t help with that."

Leah continued, "In fact, the former mistress and the master’s relationship was always distant. She attended all banquets alone and never brought the master. However, the master was married into the family, and his status at home was low; some servants even looked down on him. The former mistress wouldn’t let the master meddle in your daily life at all."

Summer understood her mother’s actions, knowing she wasn’t Henry Stanton’s biological daughter.

Leah observed Summer’s expression and finally said helplessly, "When the news of the former mistress’s fall came, soon after there was news of your disappearance. They said you went to find someone at the company because the former mistress didn’t pick you up from school, and then you disappeared. Everyone said you were kidnapped by human traffickers, but strangely, the master didn’t report it to the police, saying he was secretly sending people to look for you. Other than that, I really don’t know anything else."
