Chapter 168: Can’t Stay Here
Chapter 168: Can’t Stay Here
Summer nodded, knowing that Leah wouldn’t reveal any more information, so she nodded and said, "Alright, that’s all for today. If you remember anything else, let me know."
"Okay. Do you have any other instructions?"
Summer shook her head: "Not for now, but I’ll come to you if I need anything. As for Auntie, just keep doing your job and make sure she doesn’t know we’re getting closer. Also, once you get back, make a list for me. I want to know who in the manor is Auntie’s people."
"Alright, Miss, I’ll take my leave then." Leah bowed to Summer, grabbed her ticket and business card, and left.
Summer sat quietly in the room for a while, her mind racing.
After organizing her thoughts, she took out her phone and checked the message Damian Knight had sent earlier.
Damian’s message was brief and to the point: "When you have a moment, help us find the other party’s location."
Summer wasted no time and opened her computer to start locating.
She narrowed the range as much as possible, but even so, there were still several private islands within it.
At the time Summer sent the location, Stella Monroe finally arrived at the temple entrance.
Just as she got out of the car, Audrey Stanton emerged from inside wearing a green outfit, her expression cold, and said in an unfriendly tone, "Have you two taken my place as a hotel?"
Stella forced a smile to greet, "Big sister."
Audrey gave her a cold glance and said, "We’ve had a lot of pilgrims lately, not enough rooms. From now on, you’ll sleep in the same room as me."
Stella’s face instantly froze, and she said, "How could I disrupt your peace? I’ll share a room with Clarissa."
"Clarissa?" Audrey laughed oddly and said, "I asked her, and she said she wouldn’t want to share with you."
Stella raised her eyes in shock, "How is that possible?"
"Then go ask her yourself," Audrey said, walking into the temple and ignoring her.
Stella asked around on her way and finally found Clarissa Stanton chopping wood.
From a distance, she saw that Clarissa’s face had become thinner in just a few days.
Feeling a pang of heartache, she hurried over to grab the axe from Clarissa’s hands, saying, "How could you do this kind of manual labor? Those hand masks were all for nothing!"
Clarissa icily took back the axe, not even looking at Stella directly, and said coolly, "Don’t worry. Starting tomorrow, you’ll be doing this kind of work too, until Dad has a sudden change of heart and takes us back."
Neither knew that every letter had actually been intercepted by Summer.
So Clarissa only felt that Stella didn’t care about her, and seeing Stella made her attitude naturally poor.
She couldn’t count on Stella and could only rely on herself.
Being here, the priority wasn’t skincare but pleasing Audrey Stanton; eating three meals a day was the real deal.
Stella sensed something off in Clarissa’s attitude, furrowing her brows and asking, "Clarissa, how can you speak like this to your mom?"
Clarissa sneered, "Mom? Do you think you’re worthy of that title? Don’t think I don’t know; besides Dad, you have another man outside!"
"You! What’s wrong with you? Are you trying to kill me with anger?!" Stella’s anger was uncontrollable, and she slapped Clarissa hard across the face.
A sharp "smack" echoed.
Clarissa clutched her face in pain.
After the slap, the way Clarissa looked at Stella gradually turned venomous.
She was now suspicious that she might not be Stella’s biological daughter at all!
