Chapter 254: Another Kind of Salt
Chapter 254: Another Kind of Salt
About ten meters into the cave, the deep blue Crystal Stones gradually disappeared. In their place was a faintly yellow, dull ore.
Wu Yue was smarter this time. Instead of licking it directly, she pried off a piece, tossed it into the basket on her back, and said, "System, analyze."
"Coarse salt ore. Refining is recommended before consumption."
The Snow Tiger Tribe Beastman Warriors following behind her saw her standing there in a daze and walked up, looking confused.
"Moon Witch, is there a problem with this stone?"
Wu Yue nodded. "This stone is also salt."
As she spoke, she handed the Rock Ore in her hand to the Beastman.
The Beastman Warrior felt like he was walking on air. He took the murky-colored ore in disbelief and carefully gave it a lick.
The familiar taste made him frown for a moment, but his eyes shone brightly. "Moon Witch, this... this really is salt. It’s just not as good as the salt from the outer part of the cave. It has a bitter taste."
It was even more bitter than the salt their tribe was currently eating, and it had a lot of other flavors mixed in.
He looked at the young female before him. "How did you know this was salt?"
Wu Yue glanced in the direction behind him. "The crystals that fell off the Little Fatty Beast’s body must be from this salt crystal mine we’re looking at.
When I saw it eating this kind of ore earlier, I wanted to taste it for myself. I never expected it would actually be salt."
The Beastman was speechless...
’So salt can be discovered this easily?’
’Then what was the point of us traveling to such faraway, dangerous places to trade for salt before?’
Wu Yue pointed to the murky, pale yellow stones embedded in the cave wall. "Help me dig out a few pieces. I have a use for them."
The Beastman Warrior flashed a brilliant smile, baring his white teeth. He stepped forward, and with two quick swipes of his claws—SWISH, SWISH—several chunks of Salt Crystal Ore lay on the ground.
After Wu Yue took a few pieces, the Beastman picked up the rest. "When Yuan Lang and the others get back tonight, we should show this ore to them, too."
Wu Yue nodded. The two of them returned to where the other Beastmen were gathered. The Beastman Warriors who weren’t on patrol were currently crowded around the little deep-blue fluffballs, watching them.
The blue fluffballs, who had been shy at first, saw that the Beastman Warriors meant them no harm and instantly grew much bolder.
Each one grabbed a piece of ore in its mouth, found a random spot to sit, and began to gnaw away with happy little crunches.
Wu Yue placed the large armful of ore she was carrying beside the beast skin she used for sleeping and was just about to sit down for a rest.
A flash of deep blue entered her vision. It was the same little furball from before.
The little creature was staring intently at... the pile of ore in front of Wu Yue.
Every so often, it would shoot Wu Yue a pitiful glance and let out a few pathetic yelps.
Amused by the little creature’s obviously faked cute act, Wu Yue picked up a piece of ore and held it out.
Seeing the delicious ore right in front of it, a glistening bead of drool escaped the corner of the furball’s mouth, wetting its deep-blue fur.
It cautiously glanced up at Wu Yue. Seeing that she was just sitting casually to one side, it boldly crept forward, stretched out a tiny paw, and knocked the ore out of her hand. Then, with a little hop, it snatched the ore in its mouth and scurried away.
Wu Yue found its food-guarding behavior quite amusing as it chewed away, NOM, NOM, all while cautiously keeping an eye on her.
