Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 932 - 931: The Night Before the Banquet

Chapter 932 - 931: The Night Before the Banquet

The man had been driving slowly for a long time before finally feeling alive, revealing an expression of relief on his face. He quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and jumped out of the car.

While in the car, he didn’t notice anything amiss, but once he got out, he realized something was wrong, and it was too late. His legs turned to jelly, like noodles, and if Xu Ke hadn’t supported him, he would have performed a demonstration of what it means to kneel on the spot in front of everyone.

"So you can’t ride in a fast car, huh? I didn’t know, so the car went a bit fast. You’re not going to blame me, right?" Xu Ke asked in a rather coquettish manner.

The man glanced at Xu Ke and saw the mischief in his eyes. He was annoyed but couldn’t show it. His handsome face turned visibly sullen, and he grudgingly waved his hand.

It was clear that this stylist was indeed popular. The two of them waited for a long while before it was Xu Ke’s turn. By then, the stylist was so tired his back was nearly giving out. He sighed as he picked up the lotion to do makeup for the person in front of him, but as soon as his eyes fell on Xu Ke, his movements halted. His hand holding the lotion froze in mid-air.

Meanwhile, the man who had just managed to steady himself came out of the restroom, witnessing the stylist standing there, tools in hand, doing nothing. He checked his wristwatch, saw the time, and frowned.

He had booked Xu Ke’s styling with this famous stylist and made the appointment in advance. He risked his life bringing him here for styling, not to see him frozen in place.

The man, looking displeased, walked to a nearby spot and said, "Can we start the styling? We’re short on time, so please speed it up."

The man’s voice snapped the stylist out of his daze. With some embarrassment, he said, "Sorry, I was just a bit distracted." He put down his makeup tools and instead began to look at Xu Ke with amazement.

"Honestly, I’ve been in this industry for so long, and seeing someone like you is rare. With your looks, these makeup products would be an insult to you. You just need a simple change to your hairstyle. Your face is suited for showing off that full forehead rather than covering it. I’ll use hair gel to fix your hair back. If you’re willing, I can give you a proper haircut. What do you think?" the stylist said, looking amazed.

"No need for trouble. Just fix it with the hair gel; I don’t like to be too ostentatious," Xu Ke replied playfully, winking at him, which made the stylist smile kindly.

Because they skipped the makeup steps, Xu Ke’s styling was done quickly, taking no more than ten minutes. Before leaving, the stylist handed Xu Ke a pair of glasses, and then they were on their way.

When they came out of the studio, the man insisted on not letting Xu Ke touch the car keys again, firmly deciding to drive Xu Ke to the He Family. Seeing the man’s terrified look, Xu Ke didn’t argue. However, perhaps because of the earlier fright Xu Ke gave him, the man’s driving speed was extremely slow, and Xu Ke saw an electric scooter overtake them.

Despite feeling Xu Ke’s gaze on him, the man was a bit embarrassed but still maintained the same speed, unwilling to accelerate at all.

Seeing the snail-paced speed, Xu Ke chose to close his eyes and take a nap.

Perhaps they had left early and saved a lot of time at the stylist’s, as Xu Ke arrived quite early at the He Family, who were still setting up the venue.

He Qing hadn’t changed into her dress yet and was strolling outside in casual wear. Catching sight of Xu Ke approaching, she quickly abandoned her conversation partner and rushed to Xu Ke.

Seeing a markedly different Xu Ke from before, He Qing blushed before she even spoke. She always knew Xu Ke was good-looking, which was why she was interested in him, even though he was just a hotel manager. But she didn’t expect Xu Ke to bring such a surprising change.

Xu Ke, already handsome, was even more striking today, like a man straight out of a vintage castle, exuding an indescribable air of mystery. The moment He Qing saw Xu Ke, she instinctively held her breath, her face turning as red as a ripe shrimp.

Watching He Qing turn red in front of him, Xu Ke smiled, with a gentle look in his eyes he hadn’t noticed. The atmosphere between them heated up quickly, and it was as if pink bubbles floated in the air. He Chen, directing the staff at home to set the scene, turned around to see this scene, immediately frowning deeply. He found the sight incredibly annoying, making him want to tear it apart. He even regretted instructing his people to get Xu Ke styled.

He only didn’t want Xu Ke to embarrass his sister, not to seduce her.

Thinking this, He Chen made a decision and left everything to make his way to Xu Ke and He Qing, assertively entering between them and breaking their eye contact.

"What are you two talking about so happily?" He Chen said as he stepped between them.

Hearing He Chen’s words, He Qing felt both amused and frustrated. Who was he kidding? He had been watching this whole time. Did he really not know if they were chatting happily?

She and Xu Ke hadn’t even spoken yet, and he couldn’t even come up with a decent excuse.

He Qing rolled her eyes at her brother, expressing her exasperation.

"Mind your lady manners; what do you look like doing that?" He Chen said, gently tapping her back.

"Alright, it’s getting late. Hurry back to get dressed and styled, and don’t end up rushing around." He Chen urged.

Seeing the time, He Qing realized it was indeed getting late and that she hadn’t done anything yet. She quickly gave Xu Ke an apologetic smile.

"Don’t worry about me; go do your thing," Xu Ke said considerately.

"Then I’ll go. See you at the banquet. Brother, treat him well; he’s my guest today, okay?" He Qing cautioned as she left with some unease.

"Got it, my lady. Today is an important day for you, I won’t embarrass my sister, rest assured."
