Chapter 928 - 927: Overwhelming Power and Influence
"Without even the slightest visual acuity and intelligence, how did you get into the Ministry of Public Security?" He Chen coldly mocked the other party.
"When I asked you to take him away, I didn’t mean for you to bring him to the police station to live the good life. I wanted him brought over to suffer. And what happened? Look at the mess you made." He Chen’s gaze scanned the other party from head to toe, noticing not a single mark of abuse on him, making the already tense atmosphere drop by two degrees, as if the air conditioning was malfunctioning and turning the room into an icebox.
"We’re ultimately a police station, not a prison. It’s not allowed to abuse prisoners." The policeman replied resolutely.
"I don’t like listening to people talk back to me," He Chen said as he glanced over at him.
The policeman, who had previously mustered the courage to speak, suddenly turned silent like a mute, not daring to say another word.
But today’s purpose for He Chen’s visit to the police station was regarding this man, nothing to do with these rigid officers, "You all can leave, no need to stay here."
Having heard He Chen speak, the policemen in the room one after another exited. The man kneeling on the ground noticed how obediently they listened to He Chen, his expression already panicked. He suddenly grabbed hold of a policeman’s leg, causing the officer, who was about to leave, to stumble and almost fall face-first to the ground.
"What are you doing? Release your grip!" The policeman hissed at the man in a low voice.
"I won’t, I can’t let go. If I do, he’ll definitely kill me, definitely." A man of seven feet couldn’t tell where all the tears came from, streaming desperately like an opened tap.
"Release your grip now, and you’ll have only one person targeting you. But if you hold onto me, there’ll be two. Don’t forget where you are, and once they’re gone, I’ll make sure you regret being in this station. I have means to make you suffer." The officer hissed at him, clenching his teeth.
The man slowly loosened his grip, letting go of the officer’s leg.
Unknown to him, he’d already thoroughly offended He Chen. Even without clutching the officer’s leg, He Chen wouldn’t let him off easily.
The officer initially wanted to associate with He Chen, but unknowingly offended him instead, worrying He Chen might retaliate.
The policeman, thinking this, couldn’t help showing a venomous look towards the man but managed to turn away at the last moment, keeping his resentment hidden yet determining to make him suffer.
The policemen exited swiftly, leaving the man alone facing the room full of bodyguards and He Chen seated prominently.
Prioritizing his survival over everything else, the man crawled toward He Chen, but the bodyguards stopped him when he tried to get closer. He Chen despised having trash near him; being in the same room was torment enough.
"Young Master He, today’s incident truly is a misunderstanding. I didn’t know that woman was your sister or her background. Knowing she was your sister, I’d never dare even with immense courage. She was alone, unaccompanied, and the most beautiful I’d ever seen, losing control and drugging her. But I failed to do anything before your friend stormed in, beating me up. Then you know how events unfolded. I swear, I didn’t lay a finger on her."
Fearful of He Chen’s disbelief, the man raised his hand, almost swearing to the heavens, hoping the person before would trust him.
He Chen squinted slightly, concealing his emotions, remaining silent as the man spoke — a silence resembling a death sentence, yet the axe on execution day hangs suspended, fostering anxiety.
"Consider yourself lucky your paws didn’t touch my sister, or do you think you’d still be alive here talking to me?" He Chen scoffed, looking at him as if he were a fool.
Hearing that, the man’s blood turned cold.
"Who instructed you?" He Chen stared intently at the man.
The man showed a hint of bewilderment. "Huh?" Always operated solo, who instructs him?
Then he remembered the man wrecking his business, so he tried pulling Xu Ke into the muck.
Yet He Chen, having observed his every expression change, laughed upon hearing the accusation.
Highly distrustful, despite Xu Ke saving his sister, he suspected orchestration rather than coincidence but found Xu Ke innocent for now.
"Even now you consider implicating others, not speaking a single truth. I hardly know what to say to you," He Chen said slowly.
Seeing He Chen distrust him and the chilling gaze, he struggled and defended, "I’m not lying! He directed me. Without him, how would I succeed with your sister? Plus, he promised ten grand upon success. I was greedy; the real instigator is him. Believe me!"
"Before slandering others, practice acting. I, He Chen, didn’t get here being gullible, believing every word. You love lies so much, seems you don’t need this tongue," he remarked.
With his words, a bodyguard approached despite the man’s tight-lipped silence, prying his mouth open and pulling on his tongue amidst his pleading and terror, before the knife fell, severing it completely.
