Chapter 923 - 922: The Motel

Chapter 923 - 922: The Motel

Hearing the man’s humming as he left, tears streamed down He Qing’s cheeks like beads falling off a broken string.

Just as He Qing was filled with despair, the door was suddenly kicked open from the outside. He Qing quickly opened her eyes, her heart pounding fiercely.

Could someone really be coming to rescue her?

No matter who came to save her, she would definitely repay them well.

He Qing made a silent vow in her heart.

The noise Xu Ke made was simply too loud. The man who had just entered the bathroom rushed out because of the commotion.

As soon as he came out, he was face to face with Xu Ke. Seeing the door barely hanging on its hinges, the man stared at Xu Ke, "Who are you? Why have you intruded into my room? I suggest you leave quickly, or I’ll make sure you regret it," the man said.

Looking at Xu Ke’s physique, the man instinctively assumed Xu Ke was an easy target. So, he was brazenly arrogant towards Xu Ke, even approaching him and giving him a shove.

"While my temper is still under control, get out quickly, or soon you won’t be able to leave even if you want to," the man said, looking down at Xu Ke.

Lying on the bed, He Qing, weakened and unaware of who had come, only knew that the two were not in cahoots. This gave her a glimmer of hope.

Xu Ke glanced at the large bed behind the man, saw that He Qing’s clothes were intact, and knew he wasn’t too late, that no major disaster had occurred. Only then did he relax and look at the man.

The man was already guilty and anxious when he saw Xu Ke enter and immediately glance at the woman lying on the bed. He was a bit uneasy, but he thought he couldn’t be unlucky enough for the drugged person to know this man. Rather than believe that, he hoped Xu Ke was simply in the wrong room.

But he didn’t have the good sense to think it through; who kicks in a door by mistake and then stays put without intending to leave after seeing him?

He’s just deceiving himself, or relying on his muscular build, feeling confident in defeating Xu Ke, and therefore dismissing Xu Ke as insignificant.

"What should I do? I don’t want to leave now, and if I do, I have to take her with me," Xu Ke said, pointing towards He Qing.

He Qing’s initially anxious heart calmed down strangely upon hearing Xu Ke’s voice, though her eyes welled up with tears once more.

When a girl finds herself helpless against a villain and sees a familiar face coming to rescue her, her emotions might collapse, no matter how strong she usually is. Especially since He Qing was never that resilient to begin with; she’s always been a cherished princess.

If not for the drug keeping her from moving, He Qing would have surely rushed into Xu Ke’s embrace by now, crying her heart out to release all her inner fears.

Hearing Xu Ke’s words, the man facing Xu Ke in the room felt an involuntary jerk of his eyelid, a slight unease creeping in his heart. But giving up now was impossible. Such a rare beauty was the first he had ever encountered. If he missed this chance, who knows how long it would take to find another like her. How could he let this slip away?

In just a blink of an eye, the man had hardened his resolve. No matter what, he wouldn’t easily let go of this woman. He was determined to make her his own today.

"Who are you, anyway? Who do you think you are, daring to take my girl away from me? You must be out of your mind. Do you even have the strength to take someone from me? You look like you couldn’t handle a punch; I’d put you down, and you’d be on the ground wagging your tail like a dog," the man boasted arrogantly to Xu Ke.

"If you don’t want a beating severe enough to strip you of all pride, you’d better roll out of here now. Don’t make me personally throw you out. I’m not gentle when I fight; I might just break your feeble arms and legs, and you’d leave crawling,"

The man’s threats buzzed in Xu Ke’s ears like a fly. Flies think their buzzing wings can cause major harm, but in reality, they are just noisy, with no real impact.

Xu Ke wasn’t bothered by the man’s harsh words. However, He Qing, unable to see from the bed, grew frantic. She couldn’t see what’s happening, but she knew this place was run by a strong man. Xu Ke, being slight in build, might truly suffer, stirring worry in her heart on Xu Ke’s behalf.

She wanted to tell Xu Ke not to fight head-on, to call her brother for help, to let him teach this ignorant man a lesson. But the drug’s effect was too strong. She felt as if every muscle was straining, but she couldn’t even twitch her lips.

In short, all her efforts were futile.

"Are you done with your threats? It’s getting late, and my food’s getting cold. Let’s conclude this quickly without delaying my meal. I’m taking her today, no matter what," Xu Ke’s lazy voice rang out, the scorn in his tone impossible to ignore.

"You won’t take no for an answer, huh?" Infuriated at being shamed by someone he dismissed, the man’s anger erupted at once.

"The one refusing reason is you. You’re lucky it’s just me today, and not her brother, who’s fiercely protective. If he knew you were after his sister, maybe even harming her, he’d skin you alive," Xu Ke said, looking at the man with jest.

"Even if you want to make up a story to fool me, at least make it plausible. Skin me alive? Do you think this is ancient times? If he dared to, he’d spend his days behind bars," the man scoffed, not believing a word Xu Ke said. He was convinced Xu Ke was scared and trying to intimidate him into retreating.

"If you think that would scare me, you’re overthinking it. I outgrew such talk ages ago; your lies couldn’t even fool a school kid," the man mocked Xu Ke with derisive eyes.
