Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 811: Confrontation

Chapter 811: Confrontation

But when Yu Xia turned her head, Lin Mengyao appeared nonchalant, smiling at Yu Xia, who was picking out clothes.

When Wei’s mother arrived, she saw Lin Mengyao smiling at Yu Xia, and couldn’t suppress the anger in her heart, which erupted immediately.

She rushed up to Lin Mengyao in a few quick steps and slapped her without saying a word. The slap came suddenly and fiercely, landing on Lin Mengyao’s face before anyone could react.

Lin Mengyao’s head tilted to the side, and she couldn’t quite grasp what had just happened. Her eyes were vacant, and her ears buzzed as if surrounded by swarms of flies, making it hard to hear anything clearly.

Yu Xia, who had been trying on clothes happily, saw this scene and her fragile, pale face immediately darkened with anger. She quickly rushed to Wei’s mother and slapped her across the face.

Unfortunately, Yu Xia lacked strength, and her slap didn’t inflict nearly as much pain as Wei’s mother’s slap on Lin Mengyao.

Since becoming a wealthy lady, Wei’s mother had never suffered such humiliation. Without a word, she regained her composure and was about to hit Yu Xia, but was stopped by Lin Mengyao, who had recovered.

"What kind of lowlife are you, just a piece of trash picked up by someone else? My son taking a liking to you is your blessing, yet you keep pushing and pulling, biting the hand that feeds you. Did you really think you were some kind of fairy?" Wei’s mother shouted and threw her bag at Yu Xia. The sharply-edged bag was incredibly hard, enough to leave a scar even if it didn’t break the skin on someone’s head.

Yu Xia’s health wasn’t good to begin with, and Lin Mengyao couldn’t let this bag hit Yu Xia on the head. Without thinking, she raised her hand and intercepted the bag mid-air. The sharp edge hit Lin Mengyao’s arm, causing her to cry out in pain.

Seeing Lin Mengyao injured, Yu Xia trembled with anger. Without thinking, she pulled a hanger from a nearby rack and charged at Wei’s mother, aiming for her face.

Despite her frail body, Yu Xia unleashed an astonishing amount of energy, like a fierce little beast protecting its food, relentlessly beating Wei’s mother.

Wei’s mother, who had never been subjected to such harm, was hopping mad under Yu Xia’s barrage.

"What are you all standing around for, you bunch of useless people? Hurry up and hit them! I paid you to stand here and watch me get beaten?" Wei’s mother shouted at the bodyguards standing motionless nearby.

The bodyguards looked at the frail Yu Xia and Lin Mengyao, feeling that a light slap could nearly take their lives.

Though reluctant, the bodyguards couldn’t disobey Wei’s mother’s orders, since she was their employer. However, they resolved to hold back as much as possible when pulling Yu Xia and Lin Mengyao apart, to avoid hurting them.

Yu Xia, though suddenly incredibly strong in her anger, was still only up against Wei’s mother, a weak woman. If she had to contend with men, she certainly wouldn’t stand a chance.

The bodyguards struggled before finally pinning down the thrashing Yu Xia, and by then Wei’s mother’s face already bore several criss-crossing scars.

"Let Yu Xia go, come at me if you have any issues. Don’t harm her; her health can’t take it," Lin Mengyao shouted anxiously at Yu Xia, who was being restrained.

Fortunately, even in her panic, Lin Mengyao hadn’t forgotten to send a message for help to Xu Ke, believing he would arrive soon. All she needed to do was keep Wei’s mother occupied so she couldn’t harm Yu Xia, whose health could not withstand further torment.

Wei’s mother sneered, "What are you still standing there for? Do I have to spell it out for you? You two big men can’t manage to catch them both? Are you leaving one for me?"

Though deep in pain from Yu Xia’s assault, Wei’s mother’s face contorted several times.

The two bodyguards exchanged a glance, one restraining Yu Xia while the other approached Lin Mengyao.

"If you don’t want that woman to get hurt, you’d better cooperate with me," the bodyguard said to Lin Mengyao, who looked ready to resist.

They had witnessed everything just now and believed that if Lin Mengyao truly cared about Yu Xia, she would cooperate and obey.

Lin Mengyao’s eyes were fixed on Yu Xia.

"Sister, don’t listen to him, you should go, don’t worry about me!" Yu Xia shook her head at Lin Mengyao, shouting loudly in her direction.

"Worry about yourself first," Wei’s mother said as she slapped Yu Xia hard across the face. While Yu Xia looked frail enough to wither away any moment, Wei’s mother didn’t dare to hit too hard, though she didn’t intend to let her off without a proper lesson.

Wei’s mother’s slap wasn’t gentle, and almost immediately, blood trickled from the corner of Yu Xia’s mouth.

"If you’re going to hit me, make sure you kill me; if you don’t, I’ll make sure to get rid of you," Yu Xia said coldly, licking the wound inside her mouth and glaring at Wei’s mother.

Staring into Yu Xia’s fierce eyes, Wei’s mother wasn’t one to back down.

"You think you can threaten me? Who do you think you are, and who do you think I am? I’m a distinguished lady, and you’re nothing but a filthy rat that’s crawled out of the sewer and thinks you’re my equal just because you’re clean?" Wei’s mother sneered mockingly.

"Wake up, no matter how clean you become, or how lavish your cage, you’re still just a rat. Even in a suit and tie, you can’t change that. If you want to kill me, let’s see if you even have the capability," she said, suppressing her pain.

"Then go ahead and try, see if I succeed," Yu Xia said carelessly, revealing a grin stained with her own blood, making her look like a wolf that had tasted flesh.

"Don’t look at me with those disgusting eyes, or I might just kill you," Wei’s mother whispered into Yu Xia’s ear, too concerned about her own reputation to say it aloud.

"Then do it, let’s see whose life is tougher. Even if I die, I’ll drag you down with me. You think you could kill me and then go on living as if nothing happened? That’s not possible. Even as a ghost, I’d never let you or your family have any peace," Yu Xia said in a chilling tone.
