Chapter 810: Complaints
Chapter 810: Complaints
"I’m back, from now on I’ll protect both of you, so put your worries aside, eat well, just look at how thin you’ve both become."
Xu Ke patted Yu Xia’s shoulder, then looked at Lin Mengyao’s face, with worry and disapproval on his own.
On one side, Xu Ke felt that Lin Mengyao and Yu Xia were too thin and planned to take them out for a late-night snack.
On the other side, Wei Ji, filled with anger, chased away the people who followed him, and then drove back home in a rage.
"Why are you back so early today? Didn’t you go out with your friends?" Wei’s mother was surprised to see her son before eight o’clock for the first time, unable to hide her astonishment.
But soon, Wei’s mother’s gaze was drawn entirely to the marks on Wei Ji’s neck, and her expression immediately changed.
"What happened to you? What’s wrong with your neck? Who did this?" Wei’s mother rushed to Wei Ji, tears in her eyes as she looked at his neck, her hands unsure where to place for a moment, and only after a while did she tremblingly touch it.
"Does it hurt? Who did this? How cruel, tell me who it is, I won’t let them get away with it!" Wei’s mother said harshly.
Hearing his mother speak like this, Wei Ji felt deeply wronged. Even though he was in his twenties, he still threw himself into his mother’s arms, burying his head in her shoulder like a child, not letting go.
"Who else could it be? It was that Xu Ke, he was the one who hurt me. Not only did he injure me, he threatened me, said he’d make me pay, claimed our family is nothing, and with a flick of his finger, we’d disappear from Shangjing."
Wei Ji exaggerated the incident that happened at the Xu Family, hoping his mother would stand up for him.
Sure enough, after hearing Wei Ji’s words, Wei’s mother became furious. Although Wei’s mother appeared gentle, she had a very violent temper. If anything displeased her, she would definitely retaliate to find comfort.
Now, hearing how her beloved son had been treated, Wei’s mother was practically shooting fire from her eyes.
"Xu Ke! Xu Ke! I won’t let him off!" Wei’s mother said through gritted teeth.
"But he seems to be quite influential in Shangjing," Wei Ji hesitated to say.
Hearing this from him, Wei’s mother’s eyes reddened, her hatred for Xu Ke deepening. Her precious little overlord had never spoken like this before. Surely, Xu Ke had bullied him too fiercely.
With teary eyes, Wei’s mother reached out to touch her son’s head, "No matter how influential he is, what does it matter? Having bullied my son, he won’t have an easy time. If I don’t make him pay, I’ll take his surname!" Wei’s mother said decisively.
"Mom, you treat me so well," Wei Ji said, his eyes reddening as he turned to hug his mother again, his voice quivering.
Wei Ji’s grievances and pouting were lethal to Wei’s mother. Whenever he acted this way, she was filled with compassion for him, wanting nothing more than to give him the best in the world, and this time was no different.
"You’re my son; if I don’t treat you well, who will? But don’t tell your dad about this matter. Your dad is a cautious person, by the time he seeks revenge for you, it’ll be too late, so don’t involve him in this." Wei’s mother decisively instructed, thinking about her husband’s cautious nature.
"Don’t worry, mom. This is our little secret, I won’t tell dad," Wei Ji said with a well-behaved look to his mother.
A joke, he bypassed his father to seek help from his mother, naturally not wanting his father to find out.
His father was inflexible, and if he found out that Wei Ji pushed a girl into the pool and nearly killed her, then led his friends to show off at her house, he wouldn’t seek revenge but might halfway kill him instead. Wei Ji didn’t want to get beaten.
While Wei Ji was making calculations in his mind, his facial expression was gentle and innocent to the extreme, even filled with cluelessness and grievance, directly inciting an outpour of motherly love from Wei’s mother, who, if not for Wei Ji having grown up, would want nothing more than to hold him in her arms and cuddle him.
The two had their own plans; one for her son, and the other for himself.
Anyway, by acting coy and pretending to be a fool, he left all matters of revenge to his mother, letting her bear the brunt of his grudges while he enjoyed his carefree life.
Wei’s mother’s revenge against Xu Ke was simple, since he harmed her beloved son, she would harm the person he loved most. Everybody in Shangjing knew who that person was.
So Wei’s mother directly had someone follow Lin Mengyao. Since Xu Ke taught her son a lesson and made him look bad, she would make Xu Ke’s wife lose face in public.
In short, Wei’s mother would repay Xu Ke’s actions on his wife, giving him a deep lesson to understand who in Shangjing City he shouldn’t provoke.
It didn’t take long before Wei’s mother found Lin Mengyao. Hearing from her informant that Lin Mengyao was accompanying Yu Xia shopping at a mall, she immediately smashed the teacup in front of her to the ground.
"They made my son like this, yet they have the nerve to go shopping! So heartless, such brazenness and lack of upbringing." Thinking of the greenish-black mark on her son’s neck, the distinct fingerprint causing her distress, Wei’s heart ached even more.
"Prepare the car for me. I want to see what kind of people they are, causing such a mess and yet still having the guts to enjoy themselves afterward." Wei’s mother picked up her handbag and said like a firecracker.
The subordinates thought to themselves that the two girls were just out shopping, hardly like Wei’s mother described them as indulging themselves, but knowing Wei’s nature, they kept silent and followed her orders to prepare the car, driving her to the mall where Lin Mengyao was.
When Wei’s mother arrived at the mall, Lin Mengyao and Yu Xia were selecting clothes. Recently, both had lost so much weight that their clothes were loose and ill-fitting, so they decided to go shopping together since it had been a while.
The two had been to three stores already. Lin Mengyao was fine since although she had slimmed down, her frame remained, and she could fit into the smallest sizes of any outfit.
But for Yu Xia, it was more difficult. Due to various reasons, her development had never been great, looking short, and with the weight loss making it worse, even the smallest clothes looked baggy, her exposed limbs as thin as bamboo poles.
Lin Mengyao turned her head, feeling awful.
