Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 809: Scared Off

Chapter 809: Scared Off

"What do you mean by that?" Wei Ji had never been treated like this before, and he angrily got up from the ground. However, the fall had been so heavy that his movements resembled those of an old man.

"It means exactly what it says. If you don’t get it, that’s fine. You’ll understand sooner or later. I’ve noted everything you’ve done to Xiaxia, and this isn’t over yet." Xu Ke grinned, revealing a sinister smile.

"Dealing with me? Just you? Ha." Wei Ji looked at Xu Ke with undisguised contempt. He didn’t think Xu Ke could do anything to him. Although his father’s official position wasn’t the highest in Shangjing, it was certainly not insignificant. Otherwise, why would these people have followed him to the Xu Family today? He didn’t take Xu Ke seriously at all.

For reasons unknown, Wei Ji disliked Xu Ke from the first moment he saw him. This dislike peaked when Xu Ke dared to knock him down, humiliating him in front of so many people. If he didn’t regain his face, how could he continue to live in Shangjing?

When Wei Ji wanted to humiliate Xu Ke to regain his own dignity, he didn’t expect Xu Ke to suddenly strike him without warning. A punch landed on his face, and almost immediately, he tasted blood, even spitting out a bloody tooth.

Wei Ji was a bit dazed, not anticipating the suddenness of the blow. "You!" He tried to scold Xu Ke, but in the next second, Xu Ke grabbed his throat. Suddenly deprived of air, Wei Ji struggled under Xu Ke’s grip, clawing at Xu Ke’s hand, trying to make him let go. But Xu Ke showed no signs of releasing him; instead, his grip tightened, and the ferocity in his eyes grew more intense.

"Do you remember how you treated Xiaxia back then? It’s a pity I don’t have a pool or fish tank in the living room, or I’d let you experience the feeling of drowning. But that’s okay, this method will suffice for now." Xu Ke bared his white teeth and said to Wei Ji.

Wei Ji, looking into Xu Ke’s bloodshot eyes, was entirely consumed by the fear of possibly being strangled to death. He didn’t hear a thing Xu Ke said. Not that Xu Ke cared if he did; he just wanted the guy to see the consequences of bullying his people, to make him afraid, like a mouse before a cat.

Xu Ke lifted Wei Ji by his throat, his arm strength surprising to all.

"You better let him go. Do you know who his father is? Do you know what his family does? Even if you’re not afraid of his father, he has a brother in the military. You surely don’t want to offend the entire military and political world, right?"

Faced with the scene, some onlookers were so scared their legs went weak.

Should anything happen to Wei Ji, the Wei Family wouldn’t let Xu Ke, the primary offender, off the hook. Nor would they spare the others, as this all happened after Wei Ji left with them, and families like theirs aren’t unfamiliar with taking out their anger on others.

Someone tried to step up and rescue Wei Ji from Xu Ke’s grip, but as soon as they took a step, Xu Ke saw their intention.

"I advise you all to stay put. Otherwise, my hands might slip, and if something happens, none of you will get away." Xu Ke’s red eyes scanned the crowd, and everyone instinctively stopped, not daring to make a move.

They could only stand and watch in frustration as Xu Ke held Wei Ji by the throat.

Wei Ji’s face turned purple in Xu Ke’s grasp, his eyes rolling back. Just as he seemed on the brink of collapse, those with weaker nerves among his companions started to weaken themselves.

But fortunately, Xu Ke didn’t really kill Wei Ji. Just as Wei Ji’s eyes rolled back, and he was about to pass out, Xu Ke suddenly released him, allowing Wei Ji to breathe fresh air again.

"This is just a minor interest. Our business hasn’t even begun. I hope you can withstand my revenge." Xu Ke took the handkerchief handed over by Housekeeper Zhao and calmly wiped his palms as he spoke.

Wei Ji, limp on the ground, clutched his neck, coughing violently as if trying to bring up a lung. Everyone surrounded him, patting his back to help ease his suffering.

Though Wei Ji’s current state could be considered pitiable, it didn’t move Xu Ke. He looked at Wei Ji as if watching a rat in a gutter.

"What are you waiting for? Haven’t I choked you enough, or do you want to stay for supper?" Xu Ke tossed the handkerchief he had wiped his hands with at Wei Ji and said coldly. Whether it was because he’d vented his anger earlier, his eyes were no longer scary, returning to the look of a normal person.

"Xu Ke, you’re something else. I won’t forget this. A gentleman must avenge. Let’s see how this ends between us." Supported by his friends, Wei Ji shakily got to his feet, still weak but maintaining an air of threat.

"I’ll wait for your revenge." Xu Ke scoffed disdainfully.

To Xu Ke, Wei Ji was nothing but a fool. Such a fool posing in front of him had no deterrent effect, only making him think Wei Ji was utterly ridiculous.

Though Xu Ke had arranged for Lin Mengyao and Yu Xia to dine upstairs, their concern for Xu Ke made it impossible for them to eat. Thus, everything that happened earlier was witnessed by Lin Mengyao and Yu Xia.

Seeing this group scuttling out of the Xu Family, the two women nervously walked downstairs.

"I’m sorry, I seem to have dragged you into this again. They won’t let this slide easily." Yu Xia lowered her head, anxiously twisting the hem of her clothes.

Xu Ke had choked Wei Ji’s throat to vent Yu Xia’s anger, the terrifying sight of him making Wei Ji experience the fear of suffocation was witnessed by Yu Xia. However, she didn’t find Xu Ke frightening; instead, she felt warmed by this.

Yet this warm feeling also made her even less willing for Xu Ke to wade into these troubled waters for her, dirtying himself for no reason.

"I don’t want to hear you say that again. You were never a burden to us; you’re part of our family. Them humiliating you is the same as humiliating me. We are one; we share the glory and the loss. So don’t feel burdened."

Xu Ke rested his hand on Yu Xia’s shoulder, feeling the firm bone beneath, and furrowed his brows.
