Chapter 349: Time Nova vs Space Nova
Chapter 349: Time Nova vs Space Nova
Stanley struggled to remain up. Having suddenly lost what felt like all of his strength, remaining upright was harder than not. He felt so incredibly weak, even though he understood that he wasn’t exactly weak. He had just lost his super strength.
He forced himself up, looking at the man before him who seemed equally angered by the situation.
Stanley saw a future where he was cut apart, blood spurting out of him. There was no sense of danger and yet the attack had come. He immediately jumped to the side, understanding that he could not predict the future instinctively anymore.
Sheila had stopped his ability to do so while stopping other powers from the people all around her.
Stanley saw a section of the railing suddenly fall apart. There had been no sound, no movement. It was as though something unseen had disintegrated the matter that was there, destroying it completely.
Stanley didn’t understand why his sword wasn’t destroyed by this attack, but he had a feeling it had something to do with Stella and her powers.
Sheila appeared just then, taking her large gun out and shooting at the nova.
The Space Nova had been ready for the attacks, so he quickly created a barrier of just space through which nothing else could pass through. The bolt of energy that struck the barrier simply dissipated. It could not affect the space at all.
He tried to attack Sheila, but Sheila had already disappeared once again, gone to a place he couldn’t sense. Just then, he sensed Stanley move and turned around.
He threw out a Spatial Slash, but once again, Stanley dodged that easily. ’He knows where my attacks are coming from even though he cannot see it,’ the Space Nova thought.
Stanley arrived right before the nova and swung his sword down, only to be stopped by something invisible. He made the sword heavier, but that couldn’t move past the barrier at all.
"Damn you!" Stanley shouted, pulling back the sword and hitting again and again.
The Space Nova watched him helplessly strike at the spatial wall he had constructed in front of him. "You can’t touch me," he shouted arrogantly. "Just because you thought you guys did something, doesn’t mean that I will lose."
Stanley put down the sword and started punching instead. He slammed his fist again and again, and the Space Nova only laughed.
Stanley didn’t feel much pain. In fact, he failed to feel anything at all. It was as though he was punching a bubble of nothingness that was there. It was... weird.
However, he knew there was something there. Something made out of space. He couldn’t see it or feel it, but he knew it was there. And that was honestly all he really needed.
He slammed his fist continuously to get an idea of where the barrier was and once he was more or less aware, he pushed into it.
"What? You give up?" the Space Nova asked. "That’s sad. I was looking forward to seeing how much you could fight. Both you and that girl."
He looked at Stanley pushing on the barrier and sighed. "Well, this has been fruitless," the Space Nova said. "But, I must leave now. I don’t want to kill you since—"
Stanley’s fist suddenly moved past the barrier and directly punched the Space Nova in the face. There was not much power in his fist, only barely any strong enough to lightly hurt the Nova.
And still, the fact that Stanley moved past the space wall horrified him.
He quickly moved back, creating another wall around him. He slowly touched his face, shocked by the fact that Stanley had touched him. He had broken past his space wall somehow.
’How did he do it?’ the Space Nova thought, trying to feel the wall he had erected beforehand. It was gone. Where had it gone?
That was a wall that could take on nuclear attacks and survive if necessary and somehow Stanley had broken through it.
Stanley felt the barrier stop him again and pushed on it. Feeling around where it stopped, he used his power of Time Reversal on that specific area to tear down whatever had been built up. It took a few seconds, but it worked.
He moved past the wall again and this time swung at the man.
The Space Nova did not want to play this game anymore. He didn’t know what was happening, so he decided to leave immediately. Silver energy surrounded him and in the next moment, he was gone.
"He teleported away," Sheila said from the side, reappearing. "Where did he go?"
Stanley paused. "I don’t know," he said. "But it doesn’t matter."
2 seconds later, the Space Nova reappeared.
The Space Nova did not realize that he had come back. He merely saw that Stanley was already swinging down at him. It was such a sudden thing that he had to act instinctively at that exact moment and found himself dodging backward to get out of the sword’s attack.
The sword barely missed as the man fell backward. Stanley was too weak to be fast enough to catch him off guard.
The Space Nova realized he had survived and quickly teleported away again, no longer wanting to fight here at all.
However, at the very next moment, he returned back to the same spot.
"What?" he looked around. "What the fuck is happening?"
Stanley looked at the man. "You are not going anywhere," he said. "You came here to attack us, to attack our people. For that, you will die here today."
With the single punch he had landed on the man, Stanley had already placed a mark on him. So, no matter what he did or where he went, he could keep reversing time on the man.
So, as long as the man wasn’t very hurt, he could keep bringing him back to this exact same spot over and over, all until he finally found a way to kill him.
And Stanley was certain he would find that in no time at all.
