Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 348: Burned Away

Chapter 348: Burned Away

Gray fought all around the lobby, striking the Fire Nova no matter where she went.

The lava floor made it quite easy for her to continue teleporting around thanks to the temperature of the location and how easy it was for fire to come alive here.

The hounds kept coming at him all the time, and from time to time, Lava golems formed that tried to slam down on Gray as well.

Gray kept fighting, but he wasn’t sure how long he could keep this going. It had been so long ago that he had been the leader of a cult and had gotten the souls of many dead people.

After that, he had been slowly using up that energy and gaining back some. All in all, after 15 years, he only had so much energy remaining. And unlike all of these other Novas, he hadn’t been around a significant number of people dying to have a mass of energy that could compare to the Novas before him.

So, while his power was vastly superior to theirs, how long he could use it was an entirely different matter. He had kept the Fire Nova contained for a long time, but even he was running out of power now.

Still, he had to keep her contained here as there was no one else that could do it.

After whatever had happened earlier, the Fire Nova could no longer heal with her Fire, which was exactly what Gray needed. He had already wounded her, so now he just needed to find the right opportunity to kill her.

All he needed was for her to make a mistake once, just once, and he could kill her.

His aura had transformed into many sharp tentacles, stabbing around wildly, hoping to catch her one of the times, but it wasn’t working. But any time now, he was certain he could—

"Gray!" a voice came from high on the stairs. Gray looked up, noticing some sort of battle on one of the floors where he saw Stanley fighting with his white sword. The voice had come from 2 floors above him.

It was the director. He felt relieved in his heart seeing the man. He had been worried that he was dead, but it seemed he was alright. And even he paused for a second seeing the figure that stood next to the director with her flowing black hair.

He was mesmerized by her appearance and wondered if he had seen her somewhere before.

Gray barely took his eyes off her and when he did, he saw something else. His eyes slowly widened as he saw the director’s right arm. He made the same figure with his arm from back then.

He was stunned for a while and then smiled. "You finally got wise enough to get your arms back, shitty old man," he said, turning down to look in front of him at Emilia Fireheart who crumbled to the floor, feeling the pain of the lava beneath her.

With both her passive powers and her active powers blocked off, she could do nothing anymore. She simply crumpled on the floor, screaming in pain as a result of her own powers.

Gray gave her the easy way out and blasted her head open at that moment, killing her immediately. He finally sighed in relief as the woman died.

He was close to running out of his powers.

Gray looked up and gave a thumbs-up to the old man. "Good job!" he said. "Now let’s get rid of all of them."

The director nodded and walked away.

Gray too walked away from the area with lava to go to a better region. At that moment, he saw the light shine all around him as the power came back.

"Alright!" he said happily. "Let’s go end this shit right now."

The Super Nova had been drowning in the acid for just about 3 minutes when the pool of acid inside the indestructible bubble suddenly disappeared.

She quickly fell to the floor of the bubble, coughing out the acid she had swallowed. Her insanely quick regeneration skill came in handy at that time, quickly healing all of her wounds, on the inside and on the outside.

She opened her eyes, barely in time to see something black vanish at the bottom. She immediately gave herself Supersight, seeing even the smallest of specks in the darkest of night.

And even with that, she could no longer see anything in the room.

"You’re here," she said slowly.

"I am," Raven’s voice came from the darkness.

"You didn’t go find him?" the Super Nova asked.

"I will, now,’ Raven said. "But it seems I might have to help my comrade a little."

The Super Nova was surprised. "You can help me?" she asked.

"Yes, I can get you out of that," Raven said. "You need to consume a bit of my essence though for that to work. I’m sorry, but I can only teleport those who have my shadow essence."

"Give it to me," the Super Nova said. "I want to get out of this."

"Oh, are you sure? My essence has been known to be poisonous," Raven said. "Although... I suppose you can withstand poison."

"Yes," the woman said. "I can handle poison. Just give it to me."

"Alright," Raven said and a hand lay on top of the bubble. On the inside of the bubble, something dripped slowly, pooling on the floor. "Drink that and I can place you into shadow space."

The Super Nova slowly gathered the dark liquid at the bottom and suddenly enhanced her hearing to the most she could, hearing even the voices of the people far above in the tower.

She could hear this woman’s heartbeat.

"You can get me out of here, right?" she asked again.

"I told you, yes," Raven said, her heartbeat clearly unchanging.

’Not a lie,’ the Super Nova thought and drank the dark liquid. The moment it entered her body, collapsed to the floor, squirming.

Raven’s red eyes glowed in the darkness. "I said I would get you out," she said. "But I did not say you would still be you by then."
