Chapter 241: Paramox Hall
Chapter 241: Paramox Hall
There were two cities by the name of Vanli in the United Voras. One to the East and one to the West.
Before the war when Voras was still a country, the western Vanli used to be the capital city of the entire kingdom, known at the time as just Vanli. When the war began all over the world, and internal conflicts broke the country, the remnants of the royal family that claimed the throne to be theirs created their own capital in the east.
It was also called Vanli. Due to the confusion it brought by both capitals being called Vanli, the local people started referring to it as East and West Vanli. While the royals didn’t like that, they couldn’t stop the people from referring to it that way.
When the two halves of the country fought and the locals were unhappy having to fight their own people, they started a revolution that brought down he royals.
While the remaining pieces of the country were broken up into their own small states controlled by some nobleman or person of high status, they eventually came together to become United Voras.
"I see, that makes sense," Stanley said, listening to East Vanli’s history as Sol explained to him from the side of the table they were sitting on. They were already in East Vanli, having arrived the day before.
Nova sat by the window, staring down at the city. She hadn’t said anything since she had arrived.
Fred was somewhat angry and remained broodily at the side of the table, munching on the most extravagant meal he had ever eaten. When asked why he was eating that, his answer was simple.
"I could die today. Might as well die after eating something good."
No one could tell him he was wrong. They were all worried about the same thing. They were going after a Nova and his cult after all.
The atmosphere in the room remained grim for the most part and any attempt at changing it had failed. Stanley’s attempt had been to question East Vanli’s origin and that only led to him getting an answer. Nothing else.
"When do we leave, boss?" Sol asked.
Nova finally turned around. "Something feels fishy," she said.
"What do you mean?" Stanley asked.
"Why is the party being held in the middle of the day? Why are all the criminals gathered in the middle of the day? I can’t make it make sense at all," she said, tugging on her braided blue hair. "I don’t like this."
"Should we return then?" Fred asked, hoping she would agree.
"No," Nova said. "We’ve come this far. I can’t leave without killing that bastard in revenge for what he did to our parents."
"I can’t do it," Vera said, walking into the room. "I tried hacking into their security feed around the plaza, but either they have some elite firewall that I can’t hack through, or they don’t have any security feeds at all. I can’t tell."
"That’s alright," Nova said. "Since you won’t be leaving with us, you can wait here for us. We’ll send someone to you when we succeed. What’s the time?"
Stanley looked at his watch. "11:52," he answered.
"Hmm," Nova thought for a moment. "I suppose it is time we got ready then. Sol, John, and Fred get dressed. We’re gonna go kill a Nova."
At exactly 12:20, the group of 4 arrived in front of the Paramox hall where the party was taking place.
Stanley carried his guitar case in one hand and a black suitcase in the other one. He was dressed in simple clothes that were flexible for him to fight in.
Fred dressed ready for the party with a black top hat, sunglasses, a silky dark purple shirt, and tight-fitting tailored pants.
Nova had her braided hair to her side, her head glittering with jewelry. She wore a shiny blue dress that lit up from the inside with a purple hue. Around her right arm was a golden spiral that covered her from her shoulder to her wrist, looking extraordinarily glamorous.
Sol dressed in a pitch black suit with sunglass hiding his blind eyes. Aside from Stanley, he was the most simply dressed. Even then, he seemed ready for the party.
The Paramox Hall was a massive glass spire that stretched into the sky like a large tower. There were large holograms of men in suits welcoming people as they entered. There was no one actually standing at the gates.
"I thought there would be security," Fred said softly. "They have holograms accepting people instead of real humans."
"Don’t get happy," Nova said. "There are likely scanners all around the hall. They will most likely find our weapons as soon as we enter. Once the alarm is sound, we will have little time to enter and kill my brother."
"Kill a nova..." Fred said softly. "I can’t believe I’m really accepting this." He shook his head and walked on.
Stanley had nothing to say. He knew there was a Nova here with a cult, someone who had already killed people. He wouldn’t want the same tragedy that he went through to happen to others.
If killing him meant stopping it, he would absolutely do it.
He walked beside the three, remaining vigilant the entire time as they entered through the gate. Stanley’s hand clutched tightly on the guitar case, ready to sprint.
However, nothing happened. There was no sound, no alarm. Nothing. They easily entered through the gate with their weapons.
"Did they not sense my guns?" Fred asked in a whisper. His eyes didn’t trust what was happening at all.
Nova looked around. "I don’t know," she said. "But stay alert. It could already be happening and we just don’t know it yet."
They continued walking, but no security arrived to take their guns. So, the four of them walked into the massive main hall of the plaza, surrounded by hundreds of different people in hundreds of different dresses.
Stanley looked around at them. If he was understanding it correctly, each one of these people was a criminal.
