Chapter 222: Yorfa Gang
Chapter 222: Yorfa Gang
Nova and the rest arrived at the Yorfa gang’s lair which was a rundown 3 storied building with broken windows all around.
"This is the Yorfa’s lair?" Fred couldn’t help but ask.
"That is what the information says," Nova said. "Let’s go in and check." She turned around toward Stanely and said, "You first."
Stanley nodded and walked up front with his guitar case in hand. They knew that Stanley was the most reflexive out of them all and the strongest. As such in case of a surprise attack, he was the one most likely to survive.
Before he even arrived at the door, he looked up and saw a panel in one of the windows open up with a gun pointing down at them.
"State your affair." A voice spoke from inside, seemingly from all directions.
"We would like to speak with your leader," Nova shouted. "We have some business."
"And who might you be?" the voice asked. "Drop that hoodie and show yourself."
The hood Nova wore, the one she always wore when outside completely covered her face, so they couldn’t see who she was.
"We are the Blue Oasis," Nova said. "You must have heard—"
"OH! We’ve heard of you," a different voice spoke. "Poor folks from another gang came and mentioned that you took over their gang. I also heard that you kill the poor leader in cold blood."
"Are you here to do the same to our leader as well?" the first voice asked. "You must be stupid if you think you can do that."
"You must be new to the city if you think you can mess with us Yorfa. Have you not heard about us?" the other voice asked.
Nova gave a small smile that they couldn’t see at all. "It seems you are the ones that haven’t heard about me," she said. "Go ask your book if he is aware of the changes happening to the gang. When he says yes, tell him that we have arrived."
"Little girl, is that some sort of threat?" the first voice asked.
"Why are we even questioning them? Just kill them all," the other voice said. "Let’s just get it done—"
The man’s words were cut off when the building shook with a thud. When they checked to see was it was, they couldn’t help but be scared.
The guns that were pointed at them from the start had somehow ripped themselves from the wall and were now pointing at them all.
The two men fell to the ground in fear and couldn’t help but be surprised at what they were seeing.
"I will give you 2 minutes before I see someone of authority out here. If you don’t, I will come in forcefully, and we both know how that will turn out for all of us."
Seeing the floating, massive gun, the two were forced to notify their boss.
Nova slowly placed the gun on the ground, grunting as she did so. "Dammit!" she said softly. "I didn’t expect it to be so heavy."
"Are you okay?" Sol asked. "How is your body?"
"Fine," Nova said softly. "I distributed the weight through time, so I am fine."
Stanley looked at the two talking, questioning to himself just what was Nova’s powers. He could tell that she could control Metals like a giant magnet, but that was what there was.
He never saw her do something. He never saw her blink, clap her hands, hold her breath, or whatever other forms of conditions one had to fulfill before their powers actually worked.
’Could it be she has the other rarer conditions?’ he wondered.
Most forms of power were used with a pre-condition that had to be fulfilled before they could be used.
More uncommon than the first, but not very rare was the second case where the condition took place while the power was activated.
It could be a loss of sight when the powers are activated, or an inability to do more. It appeared in all forms, so one couldn’t be sure.
Finally, there was the very rare post-condition, which meant one could use their powers as much as they wanted, so long as they fulfilled the conditions after using their powers.
These people had the freedom in that they could use as much power as they wanted without care, but the condition came afterward that they would have to pay a fine just as large as the amount of power they used.
He had heard Nova’s comment about her weight, so he wondered which of the latter two types of condition she had.
He wanted to ask, but that didn’t seem appropriate at the time. Not to mention, the others were coming out at the time.
A man in a white suit with a red shirt underneath, wearing a sunglass walked out of the building. He had stark white hair, and for some reason wore flip-flops, which only added to his image as a gangster for some reason.
With one hand in his pocket, he walked out and stared at the four of them for a second before looking at Nova’s face underneath the hood.
"I got a message that someone would be coming. Is it you, little girl?" he asked.
"Are you seriously calling me a little girl knowing well who I might be?" Nova asked.
"I see as I say," the man said. "Where you stand in the hierarchy won’t change who you are. At least, not to me."
He pulled down his sunglasses and looked at her with his brown eyes.
"Jondassian, huh?" Nova asked.
"Barsonese," the man said. "Although my roots are from Jondas I hear."
"Fair enough," Nova said. "Can we go in and talk then?"
"As long as you show proof," the man said.
"Proof?" Nova thought for a moment. "What sort of proof do you want?"
"I don’t know," the man said. "Any proof would work, as long as it is proof of who you are."
"Very well," she said and lifted her hands to open something on her watch. "Do you mind giving me your account details?"
The man looked at her and smiled. "Absolutely," he said and turned to grab a young boy before thrusting him forward. "Take away with pleasure."
Nova chuckled a bit and pulled the young man closer and took his watch to get the details, she sent the young man back and the man grabbed him.
The watch buzzed and the man looked at it with a fair bit of surprise. Most others that saw it showed no surprise, only confusion.
Nova looked at them and smiled at the man. "They do not know who their boss is, do they?" she asked.
"It is mostly kept confidential only to me and a few others," he said. "But I suppose that is no longer necessary."
He finally stood up slightly straight and bowed a little. "Welcome, Boss."
The people around him looked in shock and surprise. They were surprised at their leader suddenly calling someone else boss.
"Please, come on in," the man said, finally letting them come inside.
The group walked, with Stanley at the front to stop all attacks as they happened. With him there, he would instead stop them even before it happened.
To their surprise, they weren’t ambushed at all.
They walked into the rundown building, surprised this was one of the biggest groups of gangsters in the entire city. The man led the way, introducing himself as he did so.
"I’m Harvesh, you can call me Vesh," the man said. "How should I refer to you all?"
"Just call me boss," Nova said, not speaking anymore.
"Fred."
"Sol."
"John."
"I’ll try to remember," the man said, leading them down a flight of stairs into the underground section of the building. Even from the stairs, everyone could see there was nothing but a group of people in poor dress working on what looked like packing drugs.
There was nothing more there, which surprised the four as the Yorfa gang was supposed to be larger than this.
However, before they reached the bottom of the stairs, the man paused and placed his palm on the left of the wall. The wall glowed a bright color, scanning the man’s arm as a door was pushed in.
Stanley was reminded of the door that lead to the Town Mayor’s underground bunker back in the Last Hope.
Once the door opened, they were finally presented with a place filled with gangsters that were more aligned with what the four had in their minds.
They walked into the place, standing on a metal balcony, looking at a massive warehouse with people working with guns and weapons and all sorts of things.
"This is what you inherited from the old man," the man said leaning on the railing. "So, do you like it?"
"It’s nice," Nova said. "I’m impressed."
The man smiled. "So, do you want a tour of the place first or should we directly talk business? I’m of the second mind if that even matters to you."
"I want a tour first," Nova said. "I will talk business once all four of you are gathered."
The man paused for a bit. "All four?" he asked.
"Yes," Nova said.
"What four?" he asked.
"You, Gunblazers, Flintlockers, and Demonspawns," Nova said.
The man was a little confused. "Do you want me to set up a meeting with them?" he asked. "If your plan is to announce that you have taken over us, I would advise otherwise. It’s best to not show your hands to your enemies."
"Enemies?" Nova chuckled. "I simply wish to let them know that they have a new boss as well."
