Chapter 203: Double Tap
Chapter 203: Double Tap
The van steered off the side of the road and flipped over twice before coming to a stop. It left debris alongside the road, causing a bit of a mess.
Stanley grabbed his right arm that burned a little from the pain he felt and turned around to look at the van.
He was sure he had hit someone in the van, but there was someone else inside there from what he had seen. He needed to make sure that someone wasn’t going to come attack him all of a sudden.
He quickly ran up to the van and looked inside to see two men, of which one was dead with his leg cut off. As for the other one, he seemed to be protected by a shield, albeit not in a situation where he could just go back to fighting.
He was certainly wounded.
The man turned his head with a face full of pained expression and looked at Stanley who stood outside the van. His face was almost begging.
Stanley sighed in the end and turned around. He didn’t have the heart to kill him as he hadn’t done anything to him directly yet.
He left the road and walked away, toward the grassland. "Damn it," he thought. "I was supposed to stay quiet. How am I supposed to sneak around and gather information after causing such a commotion?"
He looked around for the guitar case that he had thrown by the grass somewhere around there and went to it.
As he was walking, he saw a vision of him being hit with the blaster from behind.
Stanley sighed and hit the jewel on the sword once. The sword turned bright red instantly as the plasma in the sword filled it up.
Then he hit the gem once again.
The metal grips around the base of the sword suddenly flipped open, becoming long handles for Stanley to grab onto.
He took a step to the left and let the blaster shot, shot by the man who he had just let live, fly past him into the grass behind him.
He then pointed his sword at the man while holding onto one of the handles and using the other handle to align his sight.
Once it was all in line, he twisted the handle until it clicked.
The sword buzzed softly and the redness of the plasma grew redder and redder until it shot out of his sword, flying directly into the van where the man was barely sitting with his giant blaster.
He didn’t even realize what had happened when the plasma shot from Stanley landed on the van, exploding it all at once.
The van went ablaze in the middle of the road, brightening the area for a brief moment before the sunlight took over.
Stanley felt nothing killing the man who had tried to kill him and went back to searching for the guitar case.
He had noticed the large traffic he had caused in the distance as no one wanted to come into the area where people were fighting. If he wasn’t wrong, people had certainly notified the authorities about what was happening.
Any minute now they were going to come for him. "That’s going to complicate things," he thought. "What am I supposed to do now?"
He quickly found the guitar case in the grasses. The weight of the case had made a dent on the ground and had thus left a mark for him to easily find it.
He quickly put the sword inside and thought of running for it, but how fast could he even run? Especially while carrying the sword. He could run for a while, but soon he would be caught for sure.
Just as he was thinking that, one of the flying vehicles from the sky suddenly came toward him.
’Dammit!’ Stanley thought as he looked up. He hadn’t even thought about the vehicles that were flying high up. How many of them had recorded the fight? How many had watched him use his powers?
Had he failed the mission already?
Stanley got ready to run but stopped when he noticed that the car that flew in was a civilian vehicle. A vehicle that belonged to the authorities would certainly be noticeable.
A girl with blue hair stuck her head out of the car and looked at Stanley. "You waiting for the cops?" she asked.
Stanley frowned a little. "No," he said.
The girl smiled. "Then wanna get out of here?" she asked. "I can get you out."
Stanley looked at her, unsure if she was trying to capture him or something. It would be bad if she turned out to be someone that was here for the sword as well.
"You have... 48 seconds to answer before cops will arrive. Do you want to leave here or not?" she asked.
Stanley finally sighed and nodded. "I want to leave," he said.
"Good. Then come on in," she said.
Stanley nodded, and with caution at every second, he walked into the car’s backseats. He held the guitar on his lap and saw that there was another person in the car.
A brown haired man who wore sunglasses inside the car.
"Take us away, Sol," the girl said.
"Right away!" the man said and flew the car into the air, and started flying away from the Trindeath city.
Stanley looked at the two, judging them for a few seconds before saying, "Thank you for getting me away from there. But, do you mind if I ask why you did that?"
The girl turned around, revealing an arm with some sort of metal wire wrapped around it. She was sucking on som lollipop, which she took out to speak.
"You want the simple answer or the complicated one," she asked.
"Uhh... the complicated one?" Stanley asked.
"Tsk! I’ll give you the short one for now," she said. "The short answer is this. I saw your fight and I want you to join my gang. What say you?"
