Chapter 202: Dragged Along
Chapter 202: Dragged Along
Stanley acted the moment the spray of gunfire stopped. He quickly picked up the gun he had let go of earlier before placing it on the big man’s hands and used it to shoot at the man in the front.
A glowing shield stopped the bullets, but the man was pushed back a bit.
"Shit!" Stanley realized that he couldn’t hurt him from here. He threw away the big man and quickly walked out to the middle of the bus, standing about 7 meters away from the man that tried to shoot him.
He was about to shoot again.
"Timmy! Yank it!" the man shouted before using his gun again.
Time came down to a crawl as Stanely slowed down time as much as he physically could. Without his sword on him, he could slow it as much as his power could possibly let him.
Stanley then moved. The heavy air around him made it nearly impossible to move and even with just a step or two, he was already causing a sonic boom around him that was bound to happen any moment.
He looked at the man in front, along with a slightly glowing gun arm and his flickering shield around him.
Stanley got to him before the bullet left the shaft of the man’s arm. He timed the flickering of the shield and grabbed the man’s gun arm that was extended far in front of him.
The moment he grabbed it, Stanley quickly pointed it upward.
The time flowed normally again and all the bullets were shot at the bus’s ceiling and nowhere else.
The force at which Stanley pulled the arm had been strong enough that he tore part of the mechanical arm at the same time.
When the bullets stopped coming out, Stanley pulled the mechanical arm, ripping the rest of it completely out.
Doing so also caused the man’s shield to go down. Stanley was about to punch him when the bus’s momentum changed all of a sudden and he fell backward.
He landed on his back and looked at what had happened with a bit of annoyance. However, when he saw that the entire back of the bus had been ripped open, he was surprised.
He quickly got up and looked behind to see that not only the bus’s back half had fallen to the other side, but his sword had fallen from the bus as well.
"No!" he thought, not even caring for the man behind him anymore. He ran to the back and jumped out of the bus, landing with surprising stability as the difference in his momentum balanced each other as he landed.
However, that also meant that he was a standing man in oncoming traffic.
What was in front of him was some sort of modified van, designed for the exact purpose of grabbing onto other vehicles to slow them down.
In front of the vehicle was the back side of the bus that scrapped along the road, dragging his guitar case along with it.
The guitar case had been made to be a little durable using a very strong wood as it would have to carry such a heavy, but if it went on for much longer, Stanley wasn’t sure the wood could survive.
He turned and started running in the other direction to minimize the force he would be hit by. As the van was faster than him, it caught up to him in a matter of seconds and Stanley grabbed onto a part of the frame while grabbing onto his guitar case.
He looked to the front and saw the bus driving away. With auto driving on, Stanley worried that the bus would go fall off somewhere.
However, even as he thought that, he saw the man that no longer had the mechanical arm. He was pointing at him while saying something.
Just as Stanley saw that, he saw a vision of an explosion behind him that was certain to kill him. He turned around to see what was going to happen, and the broken glass at the back, he saw someone hold out a large blaster which was what was going to kill him.
"Shit!"
Time slowed down and Stanley pushed on the metal plate he was on to jump froward. The force with which he pushed caused the metal to crush behind him an even caused the front of the van to somewhat collapse.
He flew away with his sword which caused his right arm to strain because of the force he had to carry it with.
He flew across the air before landing flat on the ground nearly 50 meters away from where the car was, landing on the empty street. If not for his sword, he could have certainly made it all the way into the bus.
The moment he landed, he took a few steps to fix his momentum and quickly opened the guitar case. He threw the case to the grasses on the side of the road before looking at the van in front of him.
When breathing became too hard, Stanley let the time flow back to normal.
The man in the van shot the blaster as he had planned to, causing the bus’s back frame and the road in front to blast open wide.
Had Stanley been there, he would’ve certainly died to the attack.
Stanley looked at the van and took a deep breath. Then, time slowed down once again and he ran. He didn’t just wait for the van to come back but went up front himself.
He dashed forward, his sword ready to swing. When he arrived next to the van, he swung.
He felt a strong backlash from the sword hitting the van as the force was way way too strong. His right arm ached more than his left as it was injrued, but he didn’t stop.
He ran forward, dragging his long sword laong with him.
When he did, he cut the van in half, along with the legs of the man that held the blaster that was going to kill him.
