Chapter 201: Trouble
Chapter 201: Trouble
The road to Gagarnox was short and with not much traffic. According to the online site where Stanley had received the tickets, it said that he would reach Gagarnox city by 11 am.
So, he had only 4 hours of bus ride to go through.
The people in the bus filled almost every seat, all of whom seemed to be on the poorer side of society. It became more and more evident to Stanley that only poor people took the bus.
He looked through the window as he slowly went past the Trindeath city, coming out in a small barren land, sparse with trees or any greenery.
Stanley looked at the outside and wondered why there were no trees. Surely there was some reasoning, but he was too ignorant about land and trees, so he had no idea.
Still, the sight gave him a bit of appreciation for the world that he lived in. It was not all the same, nor was it all good.
There were places that humans would love to live in and there were places that no humans would want to go.
’You miss so much when you just fly above it all,’ he thought to himself.
After fifteen more minutes or so, the scenery changed again, as he saw a river, followed by dense land with grass that was as tall as any adult man.
He saw machines in the distance that lowered for a while and picked up giant stacks of freshly cut grass to take it somewhere else. He wondered if there was another machine down below that cut and stack it all.
He didn’t believe that any human would be working in such a place.
Just as he was thinking that something caused the bus to suddenly slow down as everyone lurched forward from inertia.
Stanley held onto the front seat and quickly checked what had happened up front. There was nothing of note at the front.
Just as he was thinking that he heard something from behind. Turning around, he saw two holes in the back of the bus through which two metal grapplers were latched onto the bus.
The bus slowed down considerably, causing the people on the bus to panic. They couldn’t tell what had happened at all. The people at the back moved to the front to get away from whatever was happening.
Stanley was around the middle area, so he wasn’t very worried about being hurt by whatever was happening in the back. He was worried in general about what was happening.
As they looked behind, a sudden explosion blasted over the bus’s door, the flying door hitting two of the passengers, even hurting them.
A man quickly walked inside, followed by another one.
Three gunshots rang from the front and three random locations around the upper half of the bus were hit.
"Nobody moves, or we will kill you," the man at the front said.
Stanely looked at him and the other man that had come it. The first man had a mechanical arm that seemed to glow a dull red at the center.
He didn’t see a gun anywhere in the man’s hands.
The other man was larger than the first one with no mechanical modifications done to him aside from a small piece of tech attached to his head, covering his left side.
A mechanical buzzing sound could be heard from that piece of tech as the man’s eyes searched around for something.
"Found it," he said and pulled out two guns as he walked through the bus with them.
The other passengers cowered for whatever was happening and let the two men do as they wished.
Stanley didn’t plan on doing anything either, but then the big man came right up to him and pressed a gun to his head, surprising him.
"What do you want?" Stanley asked.
"Hehe!" the man chuckled a bit. "If you’re carrying something rich, you shouldn’t be using the bus."
The man put his gun back where he pulled it out and reached for the guitar case that was stashed below Stanley’s seat.
"Hey! That’s my swo—"
The man pushed his gun even more onto Stanley’s cheeks. "Move and you dead," he said with a wide grin.
Stanley looked at him and side glanced at the other man that was now pointing toward him as well. He looked back at the man who was struggling to pull out the 90 Kilogram sword from underneath the seat.
"Damn, this is heavy," the many said.
"Are you guys targeting me? Why do you know about my sword?" he asked.
"Sword? It’s actually a sword?" the man couldn’t help but ask. "Damn! What sort of idiot turns Adamantine into a sword? Good thing I came."
He did something that Stanley didn’t catch and all of a sudden he was capable of pulling the guitar case out without much problem. He pushed it aside, sending it to the back of the bus.
Stanley said nothing and stared at the man. "So you really did come here knowing what I have," he said.
"Huh? You can rem—"
Stanley’s hand moved imperceptibly fast and hit the man’s elbow, bending it to the point where the bone poked out and his arm started bleeding.
"Argh!" the man cried out the moment the pain reached his brain.
Stanley caught the gun that he let go of and pointed it at the man’s head before shooting. Surprisingly, nothing came out of the gun.
"What?" Stanley was surprised. He couldn’t tell if the gun was empty or if he needed to unlock it with his palm prints, which he did not have.
A vision of him being shredded with bullets filled his mind at that very moment. Stanley let go of the gun and pulled the big man in front of him as the bullets came.
All of the bullets hit the big man and none of it landed on Stanley at all. Stanley was perfectly fine with not a scratch on his body.
