Chapter 214 214 Discovered
Chapter 214 214 Discovered
"No, I just thought of something else...is there any update from Reina" Aurelia spoke as she left Roman and walked towards Reina.
Two of the girls were beside Reina, listening to everything she was saying, as Aurelia went back; so did the rest of the girls, leaving Roman alone on the other side of the room.
Ava knew Aurelia was hiding something, that moment when she realized something and then played it off as nothing, Ava was already suspicious.
Roman's hawk was finally at the city wall, close to the battlefield, but it wasn't what he expected. He could see Victoria on the wall, but she wasn't doing anything.
She just sat down looking at the demons as all of them were getting shot down by other mages, the demons were so weak that a single spell was able to take them out.
'Looks like my suspicions were right, the demons didn't come to attack, this was just a distraction so that the female I saw could get what she wanted' Roman mumbled in his head.
He circled the wall and finally saw Evelyn walking towards where Victoria was seated, he could only share the vision of his hawk so he wouldn't be able to hear what they were saying even if he closed the distance.
The horde of demons was slowly reducing in size till there were just a few left and Roman instructed his hawk to circle back to the palace.
.
.
.
"What do you think this was?" Evelyn asked Victoria who was seated on the ground, but she was shielded from the sun by a dark cloud that covered only her body.
"Probably a distraction, just like the last time, but this time is different, the demons that attacked are so weak the barrier would have destroyed them either way, it's just their size that scared the mages" Victoria replied as Evelyn sat down beside her and the cloud extended to cover her body.
"If it was a distraction, then what was their aim, to test our defense, which was done last time, or maybe it was to see how fast we respond to attacks"
"I doubt that was their goal, it seems we won't be able to leave the kingdom for a while, not with all these attacks. Also, did you notice something?" Victoria asked as she turned her head to face Evelyn.
"Testing me I see, you think my senses have dulled, among the demons on the ground, there was a powerful one there it easily avoided spells without attacking since none of the mages came down. Also, two other demons are watching us right now, all of them have their powers suppressed"
"They knew we would find out if they didn't, are you thinking demon generals?" Evelyn asked Victoria who had a smile on her face.
"It could be, but if it were demon generals, what important mission could bring three of them over here?"
"They might not be demon generals, since their powers are being suppressed, we know they are strong, but...wait, what if one of them had already infiltrated the kingdom?" Evelyn uttered.
Victoria's smile faded a little as she looked at the battlefield.
"We don't know yet," she said calmly. "No matter how much their powers are suppressed, a demon cannot pass through the barrier, that much is certain"
Evelyn crossed her arms, her expression turning serious.
"Maybe there's a way to analyze the barrier, find a way to pass without alerting anyone" she said. "Not just to watch."
Victoria nodded slowly.
"That would be my best guess, but I still think that's not the case, if they wanted to, they could break the barrier, why try to infiltrate?" Victoria questioned.
"The bigger question is why are the demons suddenly making a move now, for the last ten years demons rarely break through the mages in the frontline, but now twice in just days, there's something wrong"
"I think a huge battle is going to unfold right here, wait, there are currently four of them now, it seems your guess was right" Victoria spoke.
"I can't sense the last one, to me there are just..." Victoria stood up with her eyes widened causing Evelyn to pause.
"Evelyn, the demon we fought back then, that's the same demon" Victoria spoke.
"The same, that not right, she couldn't have survived, we dealt a decisive blow"
"But we didn't see her die, and I can't be mistaken, she's right over there, that confirms our suspicions, all four of them are demon generals" Victoria responded.
"What should we do, we can't attack, if they truly are, we would be able to stand our ground, but what if they decide to attack the kingdom, we can't hold all four down and still worry about the people" Evelyn spoke.
"I'm happy you think we'll be able to stand our ground against 4 demon generals, but you're right, we can't engage them now"
.
.
.
"I see everything went well, let's be on our way" Xinthria spoke.
"I think we have been discovered" Luna spoke as she pointed over to where Victoria was standing staring right at them.
All four of them turned towards that direction and they could see Victoria looking at them, Victoria couldn't see that far as she was human but her senses were so sharpened that she knew exactly where they were standing.
"Ohh, and that dark cloud, is that the darkness element user, and besides her wouldn't happen to be the wind element user, if they know we're here, why not attack?" Maze muttered with a twisted smile on her face.
"They wouldn't be able to stop all four of us" Nox spoke.
"That darkness user, she isn't scared in the slightest, I don't think she worried about not being strong enough to stop us, she just doesn't want to attack" Luna responded.
"The kingdom is the most important thing, attacking us would mean risking a big fight since we wouldn't back off easily, they don't want more trouble, let's go, I've gotten what I came for" Xinthria spoke.
