Spirit Taming

Chapter 782: Can't Win

Chapter 782: Can't Win

"Oh, now that is dangerous. You are using some dangerous energy." The demon laughed a little as it moved to the side and tapped the spear with its finger. This forced Clark's attack downwards and forced him to use even more energy to stop himself from slamming in to the ground.

When he looked back, the demon was standing with his hands behind his back. There was a vicious sharp toothed smile on his face. He knew he had been stronger. Knew that the attack was something he could deal with.

As the demon raised his hands, Clark was prepared to attack again. "You try so hard, but I can't be hurt. None of you have that strength. I am an almighty being to you. And this isn't even my main body. Just a small piece I sent here.

How sad."

What the demon did not realize, was that Clark could see something. A small little something that the demon would have hidden if he knew better. Right on the finger that it had used to deflect the spear, there was the slightest scratch. A small bit of lingering death energy on it.

While most people would call that nothing, Clark could sense it. He wouldn't even have noticed it if the spirit drive skill Devi had was not in use massively boosting his strength overall. He would not have noticed it of the enhancement to his sense for death energy and soul energy was not being pushed to its max due to Devi's involvement.

"There are no omnipotent beings. If there were, then there would be no point in living. So start counting your memories. You only get to watch them play once more before you die."

"Oho, acting tough still. I can sense your energy burning away. This game is going to get browning. First I will handle the elf, then the dwarf, then I will make you in to a nice unique little servant."

The demon flapped its wings. The next moment, it was slashing through the gravity gauntlets on the dwarf commander's hands. "I lied though." The gauntlets had been cut apart, their innate ability to control gravity failing as the dwarf commander fell from where he had been floating in the air so that he could better attack the demon.

Blood fell from the commander's hands. The slash of demonic energy and shattering of his partner dealt a massive blow. His partner wasn't dead, but too injured to ever recover to the strength it had just a second ago. A crushing defeat that wasn't even comprehended.

"And now you. What would it be like if you and your little partner there were one." the demon grabbed the elf captain's head. Slowly but surely, it dripped a single drop of blood on the elf captain's head before the endless forest bow reacted without its tamer's permission.

The cascade of vines and vine like arrows made the demon release him as the drop fell to the ground instead. But the result was gruesome. The endless forest bow had forcefully warped itself. Firing an arrow would be impossible. It had done so all to protect its tamer. It's closest bond.

"How touching. It almost brings a tear to my eye. If I ever could cry that is." the demon shook its head looking at the devastated elf captain. This wasn't a fun toy for it to play with at all.

"Last but not least. The foolish human using odd beasts. Which one should we mix together first. Do you think you will be a dragon monster? A death monster? Or a spider monster?" The mocking tone caused Shy to whip out the shadow threads she controlled.

As they flew through the air and reached from every shadow, the demon just swapped its elongated nails to cut each one. This was a small game to it. Little basic attacks that used a minute amount of demonic energy caused each thread to break. In turn, causing Shy more pain as the backlash of her threads being forcefully broken hit her.

"Shyama! Stop and return to the taming space!" Clark forced Shy back, he knew well that she was still the youngest partner he had. The one that should be protected. And with his will, he could force her away where she would not keep throwing herself in harm's way.

Within the taming space. He could feel it. Shyama's pain from all the sudden backlasses. From using all her energy. But also, from being pulled away when all she could do was care for Clark, Devi, and Crim's safety.

"Don't worry, when that little thing comes back after I have control over everything that you are, I will play with it for a while before mixing it in with you." the smile on the demon's face grew wider. More sharp teeth showed off as if to say that they were waiting to pierce Clark's neck and taste his blood.

Shouts of attacks came from around Clark as the veteran soldiers made their push to assist. They would not let their commander and captain perish. They would not let the one that led the humans to a new era free of corruption perish.

The demon didn't like having the game interrupted. He whipped his tail around sending a violent slash of demonic energy that forced every soldier of every race back. The sounds of bone cracking were just part of the painful symphony happening right that moment. Afterwards, the cries of those that were bleeding or dying continued the horrid song.

"What a beautiful melody. Now to add you to it." the demon flapped its wings again. This time, it came to stand in front of Clark. Its hand racing towards him to pierce his body. To dig through Crium's armor form.

As the demonic energy spiked, Clark felt he couldn't move. Crim was also stuck. Unable to condense the dragon energy in one point to make the best defense. Yet, there was an attack that hit before everything.

"Get the hell away from him!" Maria stabbed her dagger in to the arm of the demon. The first major attack that had done damage.

The demon lashed out with its other hand sending Maria to the ground. Her arm cracked under the force used. Her lips dripped the blood building up in her left lung where her ribs had just cracked and pierced. Her eyes were misty and unable to focus after the brutal hit.

"What insolent human garbage! You are not even a toy I want to play with. If you wanted attention, you should have bowed on your hands and knees!" The demon began to move to attack Maria, but Clark had reached out and grabbed its arm. His entire benign shifting while he had seen the first real damage done. But he had also seen the worst evil yet done.

All the things he had seen. All the damnable events Clark witnessed. None of them had pushed him beyond where he should not go. That single line that no one should ever cross.

Yet, here he was. Walking over a line that no anger, rage, hatred, or even panic had brought him to.

He hurt losing his parents. He had sworn revenge.

He hurt finding out about the corruption everyone endured. So he vowed to change that.

He saw the blood moon cultists doing evil, so he hunted them.

But now he saw the one and only person he felt for on the ground. Bleeding to death.

What else was there to do when everything he could have felt never matched this feeling after everything? A new feeling that matched, and had outgrown without his recognition, the love he had for his parents.

"How dare you lay a finger on me. You are nothing but a worm-"

"Well, the cultists were manipulated in to making a way for you to come here. But what happens if I bring another demon here to fight you? Who would win?"

Clark held the Joker card up as he channeled energy in to it. He couldn't fight and win against this demon. He could tell. But couldn't he offer whatever price to pay for the ability to do it? Were demons friendly to one another?

No, how could they be? Every action of this demon proved that he was always fighting others. Therefore, the demon's world had to be a survival of the fittest world. Where they had to kill one another to grow and survive. Why not have another demon fight and crush this one?

"How does a human have a card! How can you have a connection to him!"

In panicked rage, the demon lashed out at Clark, but its hand stuck in the air.

"Poor little Alistar. You know well that existence gave us rules to follow. We make contracts. Enter worlds through them. And right now, this one has called me to make a deal. You can not interfere or else existence itself will destroy you.

So sit right there and let's see what joke this one wishes to play."
