Chapter 755: Rash And Blunt
Chapter 755: Rash And Blunt
While the others knew better than to be dragged away, Clark felt that he had no choice but to follow Maria being dragged away by ralph. Grace also followed them since she was curious. She had grown a lot more curious since she had been along with Ralph.
The two of them together were a much better forging team than what many people would imagine. Mostly due to the youngling winter phoenix. Iit was a powerful beast that could now help cool the metals that Ralph forged at a much more precise degree.
The fact that it could cool the smallest sf sections after its growth while still allowing air to flow toward flames that were heating another section of metal was impeccable. Ralph had been able to develop a different way of forging because of this.
When it came to the specific methods, he was better able to control the flames that his molten boar was adding to flames. Especially when the pair of them manipulated the mental energies within whatever alloy he was attempting to create for his entire creation.
When the dragon welp added dragon energy to the flames, things only got better. The strength of dragon energy was its adaptability. There were an unknown number of dragon species in the world that were known and u known. Therefore, the types of energy dragons had as a secondary were innumerable.
Therefore, the dragon flames that were added allowed for metal and other energies within whatever Ralph forged to become more malleable and better refined. Hence where things would grow here in the dwarven area of expertise.
As Clark watched the forge that they were moving in to, he noticed that it was much larger than any human forge he had ever seen. He had not imagined how the dwarven forges would be, but he should have expected this.
What he did not expect, were the number of tools he had never seen before. They were more and more by the second. The analysis was almost unable to keep up. Tools for specific carving of specific patterns. Tools for cutting specific holes in a specific metal. Tools made just to hold something at a specific angle.
There were so many that it was easier to see that this forge was a place where tools were tossed after they had been made. If anyone were to happen upon this in a hundred years, they would think this was some forgotten storage shed for extra tools. Or even that this was a tool shed for three forges and not one.
"Get the hell out of here or I will use you as fuel for the furnace flames!"
The angry shout came with the matching clunk of a hammer being thrown at a wall. The guide that the commander had sent them with shook his head. Clearly this was nothing that stood out when it came to the dwarves.
"I will need to be a little rough today. As guests, I thought you would avoid having to deal with the stubbornness of the older generation. I really must stress that we are much more welcoming in the younger generation like myself." The guide took a deep breath. "You old loon! Get your weak iron ass out here and meet guests. They want to see the forge and learn something.
Do your job or get out of this loaned forge!"
"It's one of those." Grace seemed to feel that she had seen this somewhere before. The blacksmith that she and Ralph had met all had a hard temper as well. It seemed to go hand in hand with working with metal and flames. A hard attitude to forge hard metal. Plus, Ralphs' was the same.
After a moment, the grumbling from the back of the forge grew louder and an older white haired dwarf came out. His face was well wrinkled with years of heat tempering to cause it. He also had surprisingly sharper eyes than what anyone could expect from someone that was older.
Clark knew that he was examining their armor and whatever else that the four of them were wearing. He had a slight settling on each of the forged items that were made by Ralph along with what they had bought. "You four wear a lot of trash."
"And I will leave you four here. Your group members were interested in other areas of our small home. I will keep showing them around." The guide clearly had enough of this. He was not one to stay around but also had a job to do. Dealing with the stubborn blacksmith here was not part of that.
"You can make those liquid metal potions and forge, right? Show me." Ralph was blunt. He didn't even show the smallest amount of caring that the blacksmith had called his work and the rest of the armor they had was trash.
"In what world would I show you anything? You're human, you have limits."
"I'm a better blacksmith than you will be. It will just take a few more years." Ralph rebutted with an antagonizing tone.
"Great, they are starting a fight." Maria was ready to start sneaking away.
"I have an alchemist that can learn about potions like what we were told you make and I am a blacksmith. So show us a little here and there and I won't show up here in a few years to make your coffin out of metal you can't forge yourself." Now Ralph was adding on to his words. But this time, the older dwarf was showing a gritted smirk.
"Human kids are the worst. They think themselves so grand. I taught your father's father how to forge basic iron. You think you could ever do better than that in a lifetime? You shouldn't be proud of anything you have made yet." Brandishing a hammer, the dwarf slammed it down on nearby anvil. In a single swing, the anvil was heated up to a red glow.
The room instantly grew in temperature.
"That's nothing old man. Why not have a partner that can refine your ores for you." Ralph called out the molten boar. While it had been in the taming space, it had been condensing some iron along with other ores within its stomach. Removing the impurities and preparing it for Ralph.
This was something that the two had worked on greatly. Their alloys growing in potential abilities with every addition that they worked on. Especially since they had learned from General Green. Now, their metal control was higher which allowed a higher quality in materials overall.
'Ten fold steel ingot- ultra rare
A very high quality piece of steel alloy that has been refined ten times to remove an extremely large amount of impurities. Due to this, it has reached a much higher level of quality than what it could have been if it was refined by hand or by other general methods.
With the final refinement being done with the assistance of dragon fire, it has a larger malleability when forged than what it would. By the time it cools for the final process, it will be extremely resistant to other forms of energy other than metal and spiritual energy. This is because spiritual herbs were burned within the stomach of the molten boar as it was refined.
This ingot can be used to forge…'
There was significantly more information on the ingot that had just been dropped on to the hated forge. But in every little glance from the dwarf, he seemed to be contemplating something. "Human kid, next time say that you actually know a thing or two about preparing materials. Brats like you need to learn to speak better to elders."
This made Clark, Grace, and Maria want to fall on the floor. All that banter was just the two introducing themselves!?
"I want to forge a spiritual sword for one of my group members. He and his spirit steel sword are preparing to become something new together. A tamer and sword that can control multiple swords at once. This would be the first proper addition to a battle ability they possess."
"And you thought you would take the chance while here. Fine, have that alchemist you brought read books over there. The liquid metal potions can help coat armors but have to be prepared with resistant herbs since it's toxic. And that girl, she forges with you, I can feel the ice and wind energy. Good. That leaves this kid here.
The one that radiates death."
Clark's eyes widened in surprise. While the old dwarf in front of them seemed to be old and rash, he had higher sense than what Clark gave him credit for. "I am good with analysis of materials, beast planning, and a few other niche things. I also helped Ralph forge a few things. Just let me help here and there."
"Then take a look at this and tell me what you think. If you haven't got a thing to say, then you aren't worth having here." The dwarf wasn't going to let him stay if he didn't have a real reason to be there. It made sense though, why have an audience that stood gawking?
