Chapter 74: Intentions
Chapter 74: Intentions
"Enjoying my little collection? I know that granddaughter of mine likes to give people a hard time. I'm surprised that she even let you back here. You must have been very polite." The sudden voice behind them caused Crim to jump and growl before realizing that it wasn't anyone meaning to threaten them.
"I didn't expect you to return so suddenly. Yes, I am interested in the zombie dragon heart." Clark knew that the old man would not just give this to him. He knew that there had to be more to all of this.
"Then you have a very good eye. This is perfect for a dragon like yours to eat. But it's even better if you want to mix two types of energy. Death, darkness. Or darkness and dragon, or death and dragon. It seems to suit your aura very well." a little beast clung to the man's shoulder looking at them carefully.
'Reclusive spider monkey- rare
The reclusive spider monkey is considered utterly weak and useless. That is unless it is grown as a support beast. Then it is able to awaken the true sight skill. This skill is able to see through just about any illusion and see the true nature of many beasts. Even spiritual beings can not hide from it. To further this, it has the unique ability to share their sight with their tamer…'
"I see you recognize my little partner. I can perfectly see you and the aura around you. Along with beasts that may or may not be in this room." The old man kept himself silent about Devi's whereabouts. He knew that a hiding beast was hiding for a reason.
"I appreciate your discretion. But everyone here knows about it other than your granddaughter in the other room. So I do not mind. Devi, greet our host." Devi followed Clark's order and appeared on his shoulder. The old man had already seen him anyways so it was no longer crucial to try to stay hidden.
"The reason I thought you would like to come here that day was simple. You have both dragon and deathly energy within you due to your binds. As you see, I collect many dragon materials. All of which are no longer truly living." The old man raised his hands to gesture to the very large stage room.
"I have spent many years to find these things. I have considered having a dragon type beast as my own and have been offered them once or twice. Yet, that brings absolutely no joy to me. I only ever feel excited when I defeat them or find parts left behind. I may be getting older but that is no reason that I would stop exploring. I do happen to find myself wanting someone to put these items to use.
So, I will sponsor you."
"What do you want from Clark? No one would sponsor anyone with such rare materials just because they have them. You risked your life fighting beasts for these." Maria spoke up with confidence she had not shown before. Even Lit was flexing her tentacles in case this was a battle waiting to happen.
"Right you are young lady. I want something that only students of Nova academy can help me with. I have a certain rivalry with an old man who thinks his beasts are oh so powerful. A certain old man that you appear to know rather well." The old man poked the gargoyle symbols on Clark's uniform.
"You know my mentor Alexander?" This was an unexpected but logical turn of events. Clark was indeed the perfect Nova academy student to help out when it came to Alexander.
"I do. We have been together before. He always thought himself so much wiser just because he was stronger. I feel like it would be nice to get back to those adventurers. And seeing that a certain dungeon he and I discovered is opening up again, I want you to take three items from my collection. With you indebted to me he will have to go out on a little trip for old time's sake."
This was something that Clark had to consider. It was slightly ominous. He could feel that the old man in front of him wanted a little more than just some journey. " I see you are torn. So take this letter to him explaining that his old brother in arms Spencer wants to go out of the city again." The letter was purposefully unsealed so that Clark could check the words within.
Maria and Calrk quickly glanced at it, seeing that it shared a few personal details that would help Alexander determine who this was and how to act. "Do you agree to my terms? I feel they are more than fair. Even better, you two seem to be trying to get stronger faster. The way you stand shows how sore your muscles are from harsh training." The true sight skill had even shown Spencer their weaknesses.
"I will agree and give this to my mentor. You said we can take three items? Will you advise us on what to pick?" Clark said us. He did not want Maria to miss out. He would take the zombie dragon's heart at least.
"Of course I will. I know my collection better than anyone. I collected it, you know!" Spencer was very happy to hear that Calrk had accepted the proposal easily. It was all exactly as he had wanted it to go and hoped it would go.
"You will take the dragon zombie heart. I recommend using it as core to your unopened taming space. Maybe you will get lucky like a frost dragon tamer I know from the Frost family. And you young woman, should look in to what your beast is interested in." Spencer pointed subtly at Lit who had drifted away.
"Clark, what is that?" Maria trusted that Clark already knew what had attracted Lit over to the wall.
'Vial of Dragon's breath- ultra rare
This is a uniquely trapped dying breath from a mirage dragon. It is said to hold a piece of soul energy from the dying mirage dragon. The only way to capture this is in glass forged within a specific volcano. It is the perfect material for greatly strengthening a dragon's soul or any spiritual type beast.
The benefits vary from beast to beast but it is a guarantee that it will awaken some part of their inherent bloodline. This is because the soul and body can come together much better with a stronger spiritual energy within the body.'
"You should get it. Lit is a princess jellyfish and will one day be a queen jellyfish. Not just some weak crown jellyfish or false queen jellyfish. That will help her realize the path she is on." Clark gave Maria a nod. He wanted the best for her.
"Then I will take it. If Clark says it is good then I trust him." Spencer smirked slightly while looking at Clark. He winked before grabbing the vial and placing it in her hands.
"This is called dragon's breath. Wait until a full moon and open it for your partner. It will be stronger then." The small hint was worth a million hours of study. Only someone very close to the materials in this room would be able to share this fact that even the system had not told Clark about.
