Chapter 73: Collectors' Obsession
Chapter 73: Collectors' Obsession
Part of Clark Wanted to argue with the woman at the counter. She was assuming that they would just wander around and break things. Who wouldn't be angry? However, he wasn't going to let his emotions bury him here. It was easy to understand that there would be a little friction. He and Maria were pretty young and shouldn't be interested in antiques.
"Miss, we are here to look at the antiques after my friend was given a card directing him to come here," Maria spoke up with the politest possible attitude. She wasn't going to just back down after seeing the look that the woman had given Clark.
"A card? What card?" The energy around the woman became even colder. She sounded like she had never given out such a car.
"I met a man that said to come and loom for dragon materials. I think he knows exactly my situation with this little one and that I may need certain materials." Clark handed over the card to the young woman.
"That damn old man! I swear, he will run around and find anyone with a dragon type beast in the entire world one day." This is certainly a change. The cold aura around her became fiery. "Well, you are more than welcome to look. That old man gave you one of these and it's enough. If we are lucky he can come in and deal with what you are looking for."
Clark and Maria were both curious as to why the woman now appeared to be so exhausted. However, they watched as she walked toward a side door the pair had not noticed. "What is out here is just for the stupid people that come. No dragon essence, no real connection to dragons, that wing over there isn't even from a single beast it's made up of five beast wings. The real stuff is here.
Look and be careful, some still have some means to attack."
The final warning sent chills down their spines. Materials that had been taken from beasts that could still attack? That was somewhat unheard of. "That's perfectly understandable. We will be very careful so that we don't harm any of the precious collection." Maria had much better speed for polite reactions than Clark.
"I was forced to take etiquette classes when I was very little. It just comes out…" Maria clearly saw Clark's curiosity about how she was acting.
"I see, I was never in that situation. I was learning how to make trades in the market and some of the best fruit prices." Clark had a very different upbringing compared to Maria. However, both ended up in a tragic state after a while. But that was not what they were focusing on, nor was it the task at hand.
"My grandfather travels looking for these things. Then when he finds them puts them in a room, and just goes out to find another. I can't even say he wants to keep them. I think he just likes finding them. Look carefully." The young woman walked away back to the front desk where she picked up a book and began to read.
Clark and Maria would have had something more to say, yet they were too stunned. They could feel the energy within the large room. This little front showroom was attached to a very large back room. Many items in glass cases and pedestals waited to be looked at. Some even had descriptions under them just like a museum would have.
"This is all dragon related materials!?" Maria found it too hard to believe that this was possible. It would take years and years to find everything like this.
"She did say that her grandfather went out looking for this stuff. If he did, then he could come up with a collection like this. Dragons are wild beasts that not many will go out of their way to find. But when someone finds a part of them, they will sell it for a lot. Especially those scales. They are just shed scales from multiple dragons."
The wall that Clark was looking at was an array of different dragon scales. They were all clearly made that way so that people could view them as a collage of dragons in the world. "That one is from a poison dragon. It secretes poisons from its body to coat its scales. That one is a magma dragon scale, there is a sky dragon scale…Oh, and that one is from a goblin dragon scale.
They aren't true dragons but very rare hybrids."
Clark wasn't holding back, he had let Maria know that he was researching dragons so that he would be able to use that as a reason for knowing so much when he read material information. On top of that, Maria had seen the stack of books in Clark's room about beast materials.
"What about the rainbow collored one? It looks almost fake." Since Clark was showing off, Maria wanted to hear it all. This was very interesting to learn.
"That if from a mirage dragon. They are actually considered a legendary existence because they will never leave the highest tops of mountains where they can rest in the purest sunlight. They are actually very weak because of this. They never fight and instead are considered gods of healing in the chosen home. Other beasts will go to them with food to be healed."
This was a record that Clark had actually read before. The mirage dragons were a fantastical beast written about in children's books. If a person were to pay closer attention they would understand that there were hidden truths in the children's books.
"I think this place is…perfect. I can try and spend all of my coins here to get Crim better materials." Clark was very happy that he hadn't doubted the old man when he came here. The mysteriousness was becoming clearer.
The old man was just a collector that focused on dragon related materials. Some people would become fanatics in life. Especially people that saw beasts they liked. It was even a trend for those with enough money to specifically buy beast eggs with certain traits, cute traits. The number of rich children with rabbit related pet beasts was too high for any other reason.
"There's a heart." Maria sounded very grossed out. The simple reason being that the heart she spotted was still beasting.
'Zombie dragon's heart- legendary
The zombie dragon is considered a dragon steeped in evil aura. They refused to die and lose their minds causing death and darkness energy to pour in to them. They are often found in dragon crypts, cemeteries, or even battlefields. It is hard to determine if they will be defeated but are very weak to fire and holy type skills. This material can be a curse and a boon for a dragon.
It can affect the sanity of many dragons while increasing their lifespan and endurance. If the dragon that consumes it is familiar with death and darkness energies, they may be able to fully avoid the insanity inducing effects."
This was not something that Clark read out loud. He wasn't sure if he was looking at a special item that could massively increase Crim's strength, or looking at the most dangerous item yet.
