Chapter 726: 726. Wise Speech
Chapter 726: 726. Wise Speech
Isa made some very fruitful deals by the end of their tour of the market. Enough varying silks that she could probably put down roots and make her own small spider forest. If not just a spider silk selling business as well.
The unique silks that Clark had managed to gain had been hidden away by him. He would give it to Devi so that he could use it as a cloak of sorts. There was a high surety that Devi would gain some useful energies by carrying it and resting with it within the Eden's end taming space.
He had also thought to give Crim the dragon spider silk which was very rare, but the moment that had gone near Crim, it had been snapped up and swallowed. Naturally, it was a dragon material. Its energy was unique. Therefore, he was able to take the energy and use it to strengthen himself overall.
Especially since he had been growing rapidly to more than just replenish his body that was damaged when he fought the former Mourne family young master made monster.
When it came to Shy, she had been more than happy with one of the black spider and the night spider silk fabrics. While she had torn them apart, they had become apart of her nest within the skeletal trees in the eden's end taming space. A nice addition for her to be more comfortable while resting. Especially since she had grown larger fairly recently.
The others had also been thought of. Isa had ensured that her deal had fabrics that everyone could wear. The spiritual fabrics from spider beasts that used spiritual energy proved to be fairly elegant. even somewhat glittering which made Clark wonder if it was just the spiritual energy itself or the way the spider developed.
Not that this was important. He had also been paying a lot of attention to the show that the elves were getting. As the group walked by. It appeared that rumors had more than circulated through the day.
The elven city was large. It would take time for the entire city to know of them, yet, Here they were, the city knew of them already. This went to say that the rumors were being spread more on purpose. Someone was playing a game with their presence.
Some elves looked down on them since they were human. That was to be expected. The elves had their own arrogance. But it was different. Some of the elves looked at them like they were plague. Something that shouldn't be anywhere near them let alone the world.
This made Clark realize that when he had told the matriarch that he desired an alliance. No, that he desired them to entirely join the Universal Alliance, that he might have join a fairly important power struggle.
The elemental elders were the elves that stood for each kind of elf. They followed that elder who was said to be one of the closest to the elemental energy that they naturally possessed an affinity form. Therefore, they had a very large amount of pull within the city and the elves as a population.
Right now, Clark had been gossiped about. How he had saved the potential future earth elf elder twice and now she was escorting him. That was big news that would influence her standing. Now that Ralph had single handedly beat down the sister that had tried to take that future positions….
Well, it made a lot of sense.
Now the group had become part of this fight for dominance. The earth elves must be closer to the side that desired them to become allies with the humans who were rooting out corruption. Making a show for changing. But the others might oppose.
Those that opposed would spread rumors about how the humans might be trying to manipulate them. How maddened humans had appeared at tier walls to cause monsters to attack. That they were blaming it on the blood moon cult.
Now that was a thought Clark wished he didn't have. One that would cause more issues if it wasn't put to bed before long.
"Please come and meet the matriarch. We apologize if you are tired after a long day exploring out city." The kind voice that stopped them in their travels through a large hanging garden was one of the aids that Clark and Maria had witnessed following what the matriarch said.
"Sounds good." This was somewhat expected. The matriarch must have a decision.
A large branch moved to allow them a path to walk. The large treehouse they were beheading toward would have been better described as a grand hall. It was made entirely from the trees' branches. Not only that, but it was still very much alive. Many leaves and even a few white flowers bloomed on it.
The inside was much larger of a space than what they had met the matriarch in before. This space was befitting of the elven city. The elegance, clear showcase of nature, and even the many elves wearing intricate robes.
Everything was done to make a proper introduction to the elves and their leader. When the group was guided in, multiple elders sat on the sides.. They looked a little more serious than before. The matriarch also sat on a familiar looking throne of vines. But from what everyone could tell, there were also other thigh ranking elves called here to listen to what would be said.
"I called our guests here along with the heads of our territorial guards. Tonight we will dispatch an attack on the blood moon cults base we have discovered." The matriarch was not making any pauses or waiting for anyone to accept this information. Those who dropped their jaws had to pick them up quickly.
"These humans came to use with outrageous information. They more than proved it through trial and example of their strength. Even today they showed why they are powerful enough to join us in defending our safety. They are well above established young of our elven city and even more powerful than some of the strongest guards. At their age, even for humans, that is astounding."
Such high praise drew every eye to the group. "Using their information, we followed various energy trails to communication bracelets with information about how those sent there were to use it to contact a main or branch hidden base of the blood moon cultists."
"We found an area between these locations and discovered unusual hooded figures moving in and out of a dungeon that is not registered on our maps." Now this was groundbreaking. The cutlist had monopolized a dungeon to use as their base!
"We will eliminate every cutlist within that dungeon. No matter the cost, they are creating a potential threat to the entirety of our city and all of our people. The locusts that will descend this year will be numerous which will cost many of our resources."
"When we are weak, we could be harmed more easily. We could lose our homes here. The humans here are a guarantee that we will have their support even with them rebuilding three cities that were attacked by the very cult coming after us now!"
"Do not look at this as just a human problem. The cutlists are not only human." The silence that came throughout the room was heavier than anything else the group had felt. The matriarch was radiating various energies in pure rage after she had to say this.
"Two of our very own were captured attempting to sneak to this base. Once they were captured, they attempted to swallow vials of potion that changes them in to a monster. All while ranting about how it is the only method to truly become powerful. To unite the spirit beast with the counter part."
"This madness is not the future we need. The future we need is one without this poison eating away at us." The matriarch stood up. A large scepter rising from the floor carried by vines reaching her hand. "I will lead this battle directly. Prepare to pull these weeds from the root!"
An instantaneous reaction came through the room. Every single self was moving. The elders had given them orders to prepare their soldiers. Each squadron would move to encircle the dungeon where the base was hiding.
Some of the guards came over to handle the group plans. Each was important so that the group could split up if they were desired. So that they could truly show their sincerity by fighting side by side with the elves.
"That was a smart speech. She riled up her people, ensured that we would keep to our word, and then sent everything in motion. I think she can come work for us as a negotiator. Huh?" Isa saw a talent that she wanted to put to work. Everyone else could just shake their heads.
"With that aside, we have a battle to get to. Right?" Reese changed the subject while looking at the map they were handed. It would be a long night.
