Chapter 727: No Guard
Chapter 727: No Guard
The preparations within the city were not much to be honest. The separate areas within the city were made so that the general people were always ignorant to what was really happening.
This was unsettling. The people that had watched the battle between Ralph and Jasmine's sister had been amazed. The pelves that followed them and gossiped while they had been in the market were all focused on these odd humans who visited them.
Whoever, they also had no ideas about what was happening. The risks of the locusts or monsters just outside their walls. They didn't deal with any of that at all. They were completely focused on the facts that they were living their own perfect lives and that was all.
This was worrisome since if something bad happened and the city was actually attacked, then there were plenty of the elves that would be taken by surprise. That means they would most likely be hurt or perish.
But from what Clark and the others saw, the elves like to live this way. They could put all their focus on nature. On how they were developing. How they lived. What they created. Nothing more and nothing less.
The only ones that would focus on what else was happening were the governing elves. The elders, the guards, the matriarch herself. This meant that the stress that came with this would be immense. These head figures would always have to worry about keeping a status quo and maintaining everything else that came from outside their city.
Both sides would have different wants and needs. The monster issue right now focused on the blood moon cult. A group of cyclists that had made a base nearby the city and were actively trying to attack the elves. Use them for more of their vicious and gruesome monster experiments.
Those within the city, did not care at all about the cutlists. They were focused on their gossip and infighting to make a new head elder one day. To push themselves to be able to take on these positions over others.
Clark's groupon was fitting somewhat in though. The walls and the inner tunnels made through the walls had proven to b e extremely efficient. Areas where they could grab potions and whaling supplies along with various arrows or other weapons.
Many of the armors were also offered to them even though the group had their own defenses. They were also allowed to take any of the crystals that they needed to use when they were in the heat of battle. This was surprising since they elves would normally not have excited like this.
What they did not take in to account, were that these were the forces that would defend the elven city at all costs. They could care less about suing someone for their materials for the humans. They Were acting as a set of guards right now. Powerful ones at that. So giving away elemental energy crystals was just expected. A piece of useful gear for them to have.
As the elves moved around in their groups, Clark and his group followed. He found that they had all gathered outside of the walls. Some had been set up to travel silently through the night to the furthest areas around the base. The dungeon that they had been deemed to surround was fairly close compared to what should have been acceptable.
This didn't speak to the fact that the elves were foolish. They knew their territory very well. They patrolled it every single day. But where they had missed something, were the elves that had started to follow the cutlists. They were also cultists.
Because the elves were also arrogant, they did not take in to account that they would have to worry about their fellow elves becoming cutlists. That was where they had failed. Not in their territory guarding and patrolling.
Those elves had managed to help avoid detection of the base as a whole. It has also made the entire dungeon that the cultists were using to be missed. It was an unknown dungeon that could be anything. The dangers of the beasts within would be the issue in general. On top of that, they would have to deal with the cultists who would be or have monsters all around. It was unknown how many would be inside.
With his group, Clark was sure that they would be fine. Especially as they split up to follow different squads of elves. They had the ability to follow and fight. They also had the knowledge that Clark had shared with them so far. He just had to lay eyes on this dungeon so that he could get a better look at things with the system analysis.
Moving through the night. Clark noticed that the earth and wind elves worked together. Between the two, they dampened the sound of the footsteps on the earth. This skill allowed everyone to move nearly silently. Then there were the wind elves that stopped the sounds of the air from being noticed.
It wasn't the air itself that was mainly the sounds though. It was the armor or other equipment that made sounds. The dampening of the air around them made sure that even a breath would not be heard. It was a very interesting way to use the earth and wind type beasts that they had.
By the time that the group made their way towards the dungeon, it was clear that the trees had died around the entire area. This had only been missed by the elves due to the false reports. Normally, the elves would not allow the trees in their territory to rot standing up like this. Only if they had to naturally do so because of the way nature developed.
But Clark saw that these trees had been stabbed and bled dry of sap. He was worried that this would play a larger role in things from here.
'Sunlight oak- uncommon
The sunlight oak is a tree known for storing light energy within its sap for later use to survive the colder seasons. When it is bled of sap but certain beasts, it will often lose branches and focus on the roots to survive. However, the beasts that feed on it are known only to make a little.
It will often bloom purely white flowers harvested to make potions with healing effects for light type beasts. This is why they are often cared for by various tamers with light type beasts…'
The sunlight oak appeared to be a valuable tree too. So the elves that knew it and were seeing it in this state would become angry. Clark could sense the tension as all the elves saw the damages through.
But the dungeon that was sticking out of this dead area like a sore thumb was even more noticeable.
'Black pit dungeon- rare
This is the black pit dungeon. While it is currently used by the blood moon cultists as a home for their operations, it still operates as a fairly rare dungeon.
The black pit is home to a host of dark slimes, black bats, and even the darkness spirit which is a spiritual and darkness beast which can hide within shadows.
The dangers are fairly high since the high amount of darkness energy causes a rotting effect from the beasts that attack. However, they are also not very aggressive since they would prefer to remain in the darkness absorbing dark energy.
This dungeon is very simple. It is only three floors where each species of beasts lives respectively. The dark slimes are on the deepest level since they are literally created out of the condensed dark energy that falls to the depths of the pit…'
Clark knew that the dungeon would be dark. He began looking around and found an elf with a higher ranking. He shared the information and made sure that he began to share it with the others.
The small avian beasts that moved silently through the night shared the information quickly. Since Clark had the backing of the matriarch, they did not doubt him. They trusted that he was sharing the truth. Therefore, they were all quickly informed of what they might face.
As the group in their own areas heard this, he smiled a little. They had trusted this sort of thing to happen as Clark learned what they would be doing and where they would be going.
But the odd thing was, there were no guards. No cultists were around guarding this location. While that seemed to be off in a way, it was even worse since there was surely going to be resistance when they pushed inside this dungeon.
The elves had captured some of their elven brethren who had become cutlets. That meant that there could have been others that came here to warn them. And with the communication methods erased from possibility due to the actions of the elves already, these cutlists might be preparing a worse defense or monster to attack right now. The sooner the forces moved in, the better.
