Chapter 718: Reese And Swords...
Chapter 718: Reese And Swords...
'Elven flute- uncommon
The flutes made by the elven people are made from trees they have cared for since they were seeds. Due to this, they have an incredibly close relationship and symbolic meaning to the leaves.
When they hand carve a flute or other instrument from the fallen branches of these trees, their energy is better able to flow through it. This allows them to perform certain skills that require music or sound in general. Furthermore, it will cause a higher resonance with energies of the same affinity to the elf playing.
Often used as valuable gifts or for showcasing their talents, the elves will regard their first flute they carve as something that can not be replaced. It is a very important aspect of their culture…'
Clark saw one of the flutes being carved was covered in wooden vine patterns. They had a slight wind pattern as well to show the vines moving even though this was a still carving. Even so, it was very well made. For the elves, these were the youngest. They had gathered here to take lessons and carve together.
In comparison to a human, this would be like a teenages taking their first steps in to traveling around their local town alone. Not quite an adult, but old enough to be able to handle some smaller tasks. Just enough so that they could start to show who they were as a person.
"Oh, that's a petrified dryad." Isa saw a familiar beast she had read about once. They were rare dryad species that the elves could keep but humans would rarely have a chance.
"The earth affinity is like rock and they also have a connection to plants. That's why there is a lot of moss growing on it." Jasmine immediately added some details so that Isa could enjoy the rare beast she was clearly excited to see for the first time in real life.
"That makes it more of a dual affinity beast. Or potentially a beast that can change affinities as it grows. Clark, can you record your thoughts on this? I believe that the potential growth materials would include a high number of earth crystals along with rare stones like obsidian, magma rock, and even some float stone if one were to try and make it closer to a water dual affinity beast."
When Jasmine heard Ella developing an entire beast plan in just a single glance, she didn't know what to say. "Don't worry. They are always like this. Clark and Ella could probably write books about beasts for the rest of their lives. Then they would get reborn to keep wiring them." Reese's comforting look wasn't very helpful though.
He spotted a sword on the hip of an elf nearby. "Excuse me? Is that sword crafted here in the city? What are your styles of wielding it? Do you have a certain metal that you make swords out of? Or is this a wood that comes from a certain tree but has a very high metal affinity?
What about spiritual affinity swords? Any wood like that?"
The poor elf walking by wasn't sure what had just happened. "These are guests of the matriarch. They are humans who are assisting in certain tasks. I hope that you can accept their enamor with our culture. It is very new to them." With this sudden change, Jasmine looked a lot more mature.
Clark had only seen her when saving her, so annoyed, angry, and afraid. But this method was clearly developed because she had to be a future elder of the earth elves. A literal representative that needed to be able to converse properly without causing any issues. To be honest, he should have just assumed she had a lot of training in such matters.
"Really? I didn't know that these were the visitors I heard about. In that case," the elf drew the ornate silver sword. It had patterns of water obvber it which matched the blue wave pattern robes that the elf wore.
"This is a water silver sword. The silver that gets trapped in the streams around a silver mine will often get caught in the root systems of nearby trees. We find them and create swords with very high water affinity. They are ideal for the rushing streams sword style I practice." Reese was in his element listening to this.
"I have a family technique related to spiritual swords. Right now though, my partner is a spirit steel sword, eventually he will be a spirit emperor sword. Or at least that's what we will call it. Maybe we should go with sword emperor spirit instead? Clark can tell us when he sees the results of our training and beast plan."
"So, do you have a sword training ground? I'd love to see it." Reese had pushed a little much, but the elf was also getting fired up. Clearly, the two were birds of a feather when it came to the pride of their techniques and generally with swords.
"Reese, hold off a little. We can't really split up since the matriarch has told us to take a tour." Maria felt bad stopping Reese here.
"If you would like, we can visit the training grounds. Many elves have classes in the area so splitting up there would not be a bad thing. Some of my family's guards also train there. They can escort you around on my orders." Jasmine saw this as exactly the chance that the matriarch had told her to look for.
A way to get more information about this group of hidden talents. But also to gauge whether they could work well with the elves in general settings. Humans were known for their negative sides. So, if they went to a higher stress training area, it made sense that they would have to show a bot for their true colors.
"Then I can train too." Brad was already prepared to train. His partner appearing around him from the taming space. His possessed armaments giving off a slightly intimidating aura of blood and metal.
"I wonder how long we could hide." Jerold gave a soft pat to his partner's head. The armored chameleon had been caring for the egg that Jerold carried. The future scouting partner that he would rely on when it hatched. Unfortunately, Clark had gauged it to need another seven months at least. But that was just the deal when it came to some beasts.
The elf that had been stopped appeared to feel like he was the talk of the town. He was literally escorting a group of humans to the training area. He would be able to show off how he had managed to attract their attention just by walking by them. A bit of vanity, but also a way to say that he had a hand in their visit here.
Unfortunately, Isa's eyes were sharp. She saw that this was the group being used to a degree. But that they were also attracting a lot more attention now that they were removing in to a very populated area.
From what she saw, the training area was very close to the main walking areas of the elves. Some of the branches had even been lowered to make them a more unique place to run through. Obstacles that would be in their home forests. Yet, also the addition of an aspect of stealth. If they were fighting group to group or individually, they could use their environment to their advantage.
The open spaces were clearly filled with younger elves who were amazed to see humans in general. But their gazes were not the unpleasant ones. It was the gazes from the older elves. The trained warriors that had been here for a long time. That had literally fought against the unsavory humans.
They would develop a negative bias towards humans. That was just how it went. Seeing their fellow elves kidnapped in some cases by the scum of the human race… Well, that would make even the humans disgusted. Hence the goals to clean up corruption. But that didn't mean that even humans weren't wary of other humans.
With a small group gathering, the swordsman that he led them here with Jasmine called over a few of those he recognized. "We have some humans here that want to learn about our sword style. Think we can show off a bit?" there was an arrogance to the statement. However, Reese ignored it.
Whether or not this was an elf and they thought themselves batter inherently or not, didn't matter at all. Right now, they were about to do the thing he loved the most. His partner was vibrating with metallic energy. Waiting to be able to fight against another word. To slash and pierce enemies. To show for the great strength that it and Reese had.
Jasmine already called over a few of the guards she knew were here often. They were keeping people back as Reese went to match stances with one of the rushing rivers swordsmen. It was going to be an interesting little sparring match that had popped up out of nowhere.
