Chapter 645: Water pressure

Chapter 645: Water pressure

With Jerold able to explore and focus on something that would make his partner stronger for the first time in a little while, he was very happy. The group also shared knowing looks. He had been the one scouting the paths with Devi the most. He had been the one showing off tracking skills and other related skills. But he had not been able to take a proper step forward.

Beyond this, there was the added effect that they knew that Jerold could be the perfect scouting assassin. He could sneak ahead and attack with poison invisibly due to his armored chaleons armor from which hid him.

This would be invaluable against the strongest opponents that they faced. While most stronger beasts had resistances to poison, Clark had just said that this extreme pin frog could be used to make the armored chameleon much stronger.

From there, it was easy to draw a conclusion. When the armored chameleon finished this sort of training and absorption of multiple extreme poison frogs, then it would be top of the group when it came to poison.

Lit could make some poisons that would paralyze or numb someone. But they were extremely controlled. Carefully altered to be used so that it would allow for better healing. That was why Maria was never truly taking the role of an assassin or a scout. She was a healer and a hardened battle fighter that used her speed and partners to fight that way.

She was also adapting to become an alchemist of sorts too. Assassin just didn't fit in there.

The sound of the water fall had made everyone a little more on edge as they kept close to each other while exploring for herbs and other potential boons. The sound of the water hitting the stones at the bottom drowned out any beast that might be coming nearby them. Along with some of the softer cries that the beasts of the violent jungle made.

With this in mind, Clark had been scanning the area much more. He had the analysis skill and could use that so the rest of the group would be able to know any and all that he could give them about hiding opponents.

What he was surprised to find, was not a beast watching them for prey or predatory reasons. Instead, he did find one that was hiding.

'Flowering perrot- rare

Loved for its beauty among beast collectors, this is a flowering parrot that has a light and wind affinity. It uses those affinities to mimic large flowers with its feathers and hide within trees that bloom those flowers.

Normally, it will rely on the wind energies it has to cry out and communicate with others of its kind while being able to throw that voice and confuse predators. It is very curious, it likes to watch from its hiding place. It is known to follow groups of people while hiding in the trees just to see what they are doing.

It prefers to eat the buds of smaller flowers since they have the most concentrated nutrition. Sometimes, they are known to go to the jungle floor and eat sprouting bushes if possible. That is rare though.

Their feathers hold an almost rainbow effect when they fall off their bodies, this is why some of the flowering parrots have been hunted too much in other jungle areas of the world. Their feathers also make for specialized arrows that can take on a slight light affinity and work with archery and light related beast tamer skills to blind enemies.

Otherwise, they are considered…'

This beast was not at all dangerous. Clark actually found the curled red feathers that mimicked the tree it was on to be very pleasing to the eye. Yet, that was the issue right there. People had hunted them so that they could get these feathers and look at this beast. It was an unfair beauty, one that caused them pain and death.

Luckily, this was the violent jungle and people were still too afraid to come here. Until the group had gotten strong enough, no one would be able to use the knowledge that the group had gained to come here and abuse this part of nature. Even when they were strong enough, no one would be foolish enough to do so anyways.

"Is there anything that can even live in that water?" It was Reese who asked this. He was looking at the frothing water that seemed to be too dangerous to ever go near. The way that the river fell down over the water fall was enough force to ensure that whatever fell would not live. How could something live in the pool beneath that water?

"There is, there has to be some sort of fish or hard shelled beast that lives there. Especially if it used the rocks as a way to hide. You know that some beasts dig out tunnels under rocks, it's the same for aquatic beasts." Grace spoke up with Reese and pointed this out. She had read enough of Ella's journals to remember this sort of habit.

"We should be looking for a jungle crab which lives on and off land. But there may be similar beasts that make this water fall their home oversall." Ella heard that Grace and Reese were debating on the beast species that lived here. She had to jump in to it so see what else she would be able to learn or share.

"Why are all of you wondering so much? Clark already spotted something." Ralph huffed a little more as he responded to everyone. He was the only one paying attention to where Clark was looking and what he had already fixed his eyes on.

'Water tempered crab- rare

The water tempered crab is a mutated species of crab that can only exist in the harshest water based environments. Specifically, places where water puts pressure on their shells. Soe believed that they only can live in the deeper ocean where the pressure is high enough for their shells to condense over a very long time. However, this was proved wrong when large water falls were discovered.

Their water and earth affinities only work together in this environment because they eat the tough condensed sands that gather in areas like a water fall. From there, the pressure fo the water allows for them to condenses the layers of their shell in a tougher stone like shell.

From there, it makes their claws very strong and tough. It is why people are known to become very injured when harvesting these beasts for food. Their shells can also be resistant to forces stronger than themselves. This allows them to be very defensive if they are able to grow to their full adult size.

Normally they will remain the size of a barrel if they are in a limited environment, but some can grow to the size of a house if they are allowed to live long enough. They will also begin to eat large stones and dig large tunnels underwater where they can find better food that has been condensed through generations of pressure.

Some blacksmiths will break their shell with extreme heat so that it can be added to the forging techniques. This is because there are minerals that will be very beneficial to many alloys within the shells….'

"These are the water tempered crabs. They are very good to eat. But we have no time toc catch them for food." isa spoke up. She knew that they were not very worthwhile to harvest. However, Clark countered her.

"Whether it is for food or not, they are better to be used for forging. So we should use them with Ralph's training." Ralph raised his head. He had no idea that these beast would be useful to him at all. Therefore, when he saw that Clark knew something he did not, he was surprised. But he was still learning, so that was what it was.

"Then I am catching them as many as I can. What do they like to eat? How do i bait them out fo the water so that I can hunt them." Ralph's enthusiasm was all that everyone ended to realize that they would be very busy for the next few moments here. But this also raised a few more questions. What else lived here.

"We can bait them out just by throwing some more condensed stone or rocks around. They like to eat that and dense sands so that they can toughen their shells. But just be careful, as they get older they can get to the size of a house. And I am not going to fight one of those." Clark was sure that the toughness of a crab that size would be more than he could handle at all.

The defenses were what these beasts were focused on. Not attacking, not speed, and not skills related to their affinities. They only focused on defense. Naturally, that meant that they would be the same as fighting a tough shield without any chance of breaking it.

"Fine fine. Just tell me what we are doing then."
