Chapter 646: Not Just One danger

Chapter 646: Not Just One danger

Careful prodding made it easier for the group to see the crabs. Specifically, Clark took the lead to push forward since he knew that Ralph would not be able to easily break the shells of the water tempered crabs with his axes.

He naturally brought out a hammer he used to forge, but Clark still stopped him. It was because he was worried that Ralph would end up breaking his hammers. This was just how tough the shells of the water tempered crabs were.

When they crawled over the rocks and even in to the crushing falls, everyone in the group could spot them moving as if they were just out for a walk. It was odd to see that the water which could break and splinter tougher trees was doing nothing. At most, it just slowed them down and gave them a good wash.

They didn't even move as Clark used his spear to flick one on to the shore from the rocks. He was splashed with the drops of water from the water fall and could tell that they had some force behind them.

The pressure was enough to splatter the drops of water with a decent force. They felt like slightly stinging beads but they were not that dangerous. However, it was a colder feeling. The violent jungle was warm. However, the water was mixed and cooled with the air causing the water to lose its warmer feeling.

This would greatly weaken the group if they stayed here too long. They had trained against the cold, but the longer the duration, the more it would affect them. Especially Grace who needed to maintain her better form whenever possible.

Regardless, Clark was easily able to flick ten of the smaller water tempered crabs on to shore where Ralph tossed them in to a tougher bag that would not easily be cut with their claws. He wanted to deal with them then and there, but Clark told him to handle it later where they could focus on the joints without causing a scene and fighting them.

"There's A larger one there, it's the size of that beast from before." Ralph's hand motioned to the water moving against the current. It quickly revealed itself to be a very large water tempered crab moving on to the rocks and clearly eyeing the person flicking the smaller ones on to the shore with a spear.

While this beast was not known to be intelligent, it was not something that would be foolish. Naturally, these beasts would know threats when they saw them. They could sense that something was wrong and the smaller crabs moved in to the deeper water as the larger crab made some bubbling sounds from its mouth.

Before they could look at where the larger crab went, the water became much more violent all the sudden. Something was pushing from underneath the water. "Back off!" Jerold shouted. He had been watching from slightly above and spotted the larger shape influencing the water frothing alla round and nearby the group.

As a massive water tempered crab broke the surface, they all realized that it was easily the size of a whole entire carriage, including the beasts to pull it!

Yet, it was not moving faster to go after the pair as they moved toward the top of the rocks nearby the river. Instead, it was snapping a claw making a large and sharp sound. One that couldn't be easily placed as metal or stone. It was entirely unique.

In response, the sudden sounds of bushes and trees moving made the group wary. They had not thought that this beast would be reacting to some form of challenge or sound of another beast. This wasn't normal and Clark was wondering if they should rush away.

A longer brown shape leaped from the water fall where the noises had been coming from. Clark caught the pincer shape at its back and the antenna at the front with beady eyes. It was also nearly the size of a carriage and certainly looked tougher.

' violent earwig- rare

This powerful water type insect enjoys the warm and cool waters of the violent jungle. Over many generations, they have moved deeper in to the violent jungle changing their nesting areas every few years.

As their species adapted, their water affinity has grown stronger allowing them to grow even larger. They have two rear pincers known to be extremely sharp. They have little trouble breaking anything they attack with them. They are known to use their larger body weight to attack beasts that are lighter than them or throw around beasts larger than them.

They are known to be very territorial wherever they set up their nests. Any beast that can not be beaten by them, is often bullied in to moving. Therefore, they will constantly pick fights with the beasts nearby to attempt to take over their area even if they are not threatening to them.

Their shells can be used to make rough armor. However, their pincers are known for being able to be cut in to unique water affinity needles or battle needles. Most people will…'

Clark didn't need to see any more than this. The reason that the larger water tempered crab came out was simple. It had noticed the approaching nuisance to its territory. In the home that it lived. Therefore, it had rushed up from the depths to battle and ensure that this water type insect did not bother them.

When the two clashed, gashes were left on the large crabs shell, but it was not damaged at all though. Instead, the crab fight back attempting to latch on with its claws to break the violent earwig.

The two went back and forth while the group was forced away. "There are more coming and I am sure that there are more crabs too." Jerold's keen eyes already spotted them. When Clark and Ralph made it to the rest of the group, they were in a formation to fight whatever they could.

These two dangers had come out of nowhere, but this was the violent jungle. Not the peaceful and calm jungle. "We need to make our way to the edge of their territory. Because the violent earwigs keep moving nests, they aren't marked as a place to live. The crabs are also mostly peaceful, they have just been bothered by the earwigs constantly."

Explaining felt like a waste, but the group was already moving. They were pushing away from the river slightly because they didn't need to follow it all the way out. Plus, there were some of these crabs that had been coming from the waterfall and more earwigs heading toward them. The entire nest was after the crabs for no reason.

"Small insect beast in front!" Reese yelled out and Maria fired an arrow in return. The smaller violent earwig was weaker. It had lesser defenses than that of the larger ones. It was easily pierced by an arrow with the cooperation from Maria and Reese.

Another twenty at least, what could be an entire nest, were approaching the river. The group had to keep moving since they would be the weak target that would be easily overwhelmed. Bringing that further, Clark managed to spot some that looked at them before being distracted by all the noise of the larger battle going on.

"I just wanted some damn forging materials." Ralph swore up and down while they ran. He was very unhappy to be pushed away and in to a more muddy area where he was sure that there would be fewer forging materials and more dangers.

"I would say that's the nest up there too." a pile of knocked over trees could be seen now that the group had managed to run some distance. The reason that the trees were easily seen was simple, the jungle was not all flat. How could there be waterfalls in a place that was strictly flat?

Therefore, where they had moved upwards as they ran. The broken trees were piled up and the bark clearly eaten off of it. This nest was where the violent earwigs had made home. It was something that the entire group would not have been able to scout out unless they had left the water fall area and headed this way.

"If we had gone the longer way and skipped this, we would have run in to that nest." Isa stated the blunt fact that would have made them all perish. Because it was certain that the larger violent earwig was not the only larger one there was. There had to be one that could move those massive trees in the jungle.

"For now, we can just rest in the idea that we avoided two dangerous beasts fighting." Ella calmed herself since her heart was beating like wild. But she also understood that they would be making their way out of this jungle and in to a more rocky area before they made it to the general forests around Nova City. They had circled around in the jungle due to its larger size.

It presented its own worries. Specifically, a small mining village that she had heard about.
