Spirit Taming

Chapter 637: Incredible Peace

Chapter 637: Incredible Peace

The still silence that came with no wings flapping, or a single movement whatsoever, was enough for the group to instinctively stand up. They gathered near one another, Grace appearing to be more curious since thi was not a place where they knew that there had been violence.

Yet, here they were, in a dungeon they had imagined was peaceful up until now. But this wasn't necessarily violent or dangerous. It was actually a feeling that this place was safer than before. More like the beasts flying around were on the edge to protect the dungeon for the moment.

Even their beasts, had calmed down and had not moved. It was something that each of them could sense. They all felt through their binds, that the beasts, their partners, were even more relaxed. Almost excited even.

"I think there is something big about to happen. From the actions of that lord of the dungeon, I assume that it sent away threats. Since we showed our willingness to be peaceful, it allowed us to stay." Ella's theory was most likely correct. However, Clark was more focused on the fact that even the energies within the dungeon had calmed down.

"Look over at that tree, the one covered in white fuzz. I thought that the white fiz was part of the plant, but they are cocoons!" Grace's excitement came with the understanding that there were butterflies breaking out of their cocoons. Completing their metamorphosis right here in front of them.

'Dandelion butterflies- uncommon

Using their silk to create cocoons that replicate fluffy dandelion fuzz, the dandelion caterpillar, caccons, and butterflies all camouflage in the same way. This protects them from avian predators who would easily consume them due to their weaker bodies. They also often have yellow spots on their wings when they are first born because their favorite flowers are dandelions.

The left over silk is very good for starting fires even in some wet environments or rain. They have a slight oil on them to protect the inner pupa from the dangers of water. They are considered easy beasts to capture and tame, but do not live very long. Although, it is said that they can live for years if they are taken care of with the greatest care…'

Clark saw the yellow wings bloom out. They were the size of his hand each, making it a fairly large butterfly. But as they flapped their wet wings, they also spun silk around themselves. White silk that hid them before they might leave this dungeon and venture in to the violent jungle.

Normally they would live within fields or at the edges of forests. The butterfly paradise was an ideal spot for them to be living within the jungle since too many predators would consume them if they lived there throughout their entire lifespan.

"And there are green butterflies hatching there. I thought that they were apples." The next person to catch the unique happenings was Maria. She had looked at a tree she is sure was an apple tree through and through. But, now she knew that was not the case.

"Those are burrower butterflies. That is an apple tree, they just dug inside the apples as caterpillars. Then they make themselves at home inside as they gradually grow in to a cocoon that mimics an apple. Their wings can fold up to appear like an apple as well. They are the bane of apple farmers. Very unique since they rarely live anywhere but farms now."

Isa's face looked very thoughtful. She had not expected that it was a genuine apple tree. Yet with the burrower butterflies here, it had to be the ase. They never seemed to eat anything else because this was their favorite fruit to eat overall.

"We should be more focused on where we are. There are earth butterflies that are coming from the ground, and that weird rock or crystal is cracking." Jerold's worries were clear. From what he had said, he thought the ground would be breaking or falling apart in some way. Yet right this second, Clark was focused on the center of what he had thought the dungeon to be.

The changing crystal like stone that he had seen at first in the center of the field had stopped changing. It looked dull. It was right in the center of the dungeon so expecting it to be the core of sorts made a lot more sense. However, he realized that he had not actually used the analysis on it when he went looking for the crystal butterfly.

Before he could ever think of using the analysis skill, all the new butterflies took to the air while spreading a lot of different energies around them.

For the butterfly paradise, it was clear that this kind of event might happen often. This was a place literally made just for butterflies. Yet, the high amount of different energies around was enough to prove that there was more.

The middle of the field they stood in became very dull and still. That was until a cracking sound appeared. A single crack at the top of the crystal like stone had shattered open. Now that it had happened, Clark realized he was a fool with bad eyesight.

The rock was actually a crystal much smaller than what he thought. Right on top of it where he had thought was just part of the stone like crystal, had been a cocoon perfectly matched, perfectly mimicked as the stone. Even his analysis probably would have had trouble discerning it. That was just how perfect it was.

As more shattered pieces of crystal fell, the energies radiated through the air. The entire dungeon had come to life again at once. Every butterfly flapping around as they chose to leave or head in to the forest areas. All of them were breaking free of their cocoons to be able to live freely as they desired.

But the one breaking out now, showed off vibrant rainbow wings that didn't need to to dry as a traditional butterflies wings needed to after breaking out in to the world. The rainbow wings matched the parts of its body. The crystal butterfly seemed to be channeling various energies throughout its body entirely.

'Crystal butterfly- legendary

This beast is one of the few that can alter its body according to the environment it is in. it is a crystal butterfly due to the state of its body. It is normally clear in appearance until it absorbs natural energies. It can not produce its own energy and therefore, can not live in places without abundant energy.

Known to travel place to place in search of different powerful energies, the crystal butterfly is thought to be more of a myth. That is because very few people have a chance to witness it change the energies in this body and use that to survive. However, because of this unique ability, it is able to live in extreme places.

Normally only bone once every hundred or so years, the egg will take another fifty to hatch, the crystal caterpillar another fifty to cocoon, and the cocoon another fifty to break free. After that, the crystal butterfly can live up to five hundred years.

Beasts that witness the unique changes and flow of energies within its body will often have an epiphany due to the fact that it perfectly shows off the natural influence of energies it channels. It is able to easily be ignored by powerful lords due to this, they have trouble combatting the crystal butterfly's natural affinities to all energies.

They can not blend well with more unique energies such as death, life, time, and space. However, they can channel them very weakly which helps them survive in unique environments that other beasts can not step in at all.

If they perish, their bodies can be made in to extremely powerful armor that boosts energy channeling and incredible protection. Unseen forces deny any attempts to create weapons out of the crystal butterfly due to its natural peaceful lives. It will almost never kill or fight another beast unless it is genuinely at risk of perishing.

Their cocoons and eggshells are considered an almighty herbal remedy. They can greatly enhance the effects of any medicine made or potion made with them by ten times. This is all due to the great strength in adaptability. It allows energies that could clash to work together.

Witnessing the hatching of a crystal butterfly is a blessing on ones' life. It is highly recommended to meditate after witnessing it for optimal growth…'

There was so much more that Clark could not read. His own awe after witnessing the crystal butterfly that was larger than him flap its wings was too great. Even seeing it rise in to the sky and disappear from sight was too much. As far as he could tell, it had flapped right through the fabric of what made the dungeon a dungeon. Allowed out in to a unique place he could not travel.

All the group could do was dwell on their own thoughts while their beasts are meditating on their own already. The entire dungeon became a peaceful and silent place where everything became balanced.
