Chapter 636: Lord Butterfly

Chapter 636: Lord Butterfly

The hunt for the crystal butterfly's cocoon was proving fruitless. All Clark had managed to find so far were caterpillars and unique trees. But that was not a bad thing that it was taking him a while.

There had been multiple herbs that he had found on the way. Originally, Clark had started with a straight path before he realized he could be walking in circles.

Normally walking in a circle would be a problem for people when they were in an unfamiliar place like a new dungeon. However, Clark was in a small dungeon that was made very easy for him to travel through. He could walk in circles which allowed him to cross multiple different elemental areas.

The strategy and also allowed him to feel the changes within his body while he moved as other energies came in to contact with him.

Most people would train their bodies to resist certain energies. Mostly to resist the energies that they were weakest too due to their bond with certain beasts. For someone with a high concentration of fire energy and a related meditation technique, they wanted to be able to resist the cold or water energies the most. But Clark was more unique.

Because of the odd energies coming together through his bonds, he had the chance to gain affinities and resistances for a much wider net of energies. The dragon energy was normally able to resist every energy to some degree. Using that as a way to help himself, Clark began to let the energies around him move toward his body as he used the flowing storms meditation technique.

By doing so, he could tell that just existing in this place would make him stronger. It brought out the idea that there would be butterfly beasts here that could easily be considered more resistant to energy based attacks that beasts that trained naturally. Let alone, beasts that would be resistant to the energies of the general world. Not that this would necessarily help with physical strength.

For Clark though, the moving meditation technique also helped his body. That was because he had to be moving energy through and around his body to even activate and use the flowing storms meditation technique. It allowed him to be able to train his body and soul with the energies he had through his bonds.

The lively feeling he had because he understood this much more in depth made him move faster. He was also overjoyed noticing all the new analysis that he had found with the system. To be honest, he even had half a mind to accept that he might not be able to witness the hatching out of the cocoon for the crystal butterfly. The knowledge he gained here was already more than enough.

That didn't mean it did not weigh on his mind that he would lose the chance to have the analysis of the system improve. That could mean he would be able to learn more unique information. Or he might be able to generally gain more in the respect that he was never getting all the information properly in the first place.

'Heavens fern- rare

This rare light affinity herb is considered one of the best herbs to make sun burn salves with. Due to the stone light energy within, it produced a very thin coating of unique sap that protects the young leaves from being burned by the powerful light energy. Therefore, this sap can be extracted and used to greatly heal burns caused by light energy, or the sun.

It can also be used as a poison. The very fine and short roots contain dense light energy that can even form in to small crystals. This light energy is very abrasive. Some blacksmiths will use it to help carve away decayed materials that can still be saved from the decay affecting them. However, it is dangerous to work with if it is too dry and becomes dust…'

This small patch of white ferns was something that appeared to have been painted. While they were real, Clark thought that someone had taken a paint brush to make these all white entirely. But that was just what came of them being so close to light. He also knew that he could easily harvest some of them as long as he left the roots of the largest ferns. Therefore, he could have some for Maria to use.

"Damn, why is it so cold over here too." His sudden shiver made Clark wonder how the temperature had changed with just a few steps after harvesting the heavens ferns. When he looked ahead though, he spotted a butterfly the size of his chest.

'Snowy night butterfly- ultra rare

This is a butterfly that can literally cause a rainstorm to become a snowstorm. Its temperature is insanely low which influences the energies around it. The large wings are actually made out of the most delicate snow flakes. It is a beast that hatches from a cocoon on the first snowfall night of the colder season. It only lives for a few months before the hottest temperatures.

This beast is extremely hard to tame or raise, however, it is exceptionally loyal. It will never venture far from its tamer if it is tamed.

The powerful ice typing it has allows for it to freeze what it lands on by contact alone. It can also create large icicle needles that attack enemies. It prefers peaceful silence though. This is due to it being born on a soft snowy night.

This butterfly also holds a massive mystery. Due to its short lifespan, it lays eggs very quickly in its butterfly life span. But the mystery starts when it lays the eggs and they will absorb fire energy instead of ice.

The caterpillars grow and eventually become reigning sun butterflies that have very hot natural bodies. In turn, they will lay eggs for the snowy night butterflies. A very strange growth cult that is completed every year. Many researchers spend lifetimes attempting to understand how…'

The intricate snow flake patterns that made up the snow night butterfly's wings were enough to draw a thousand pieces of art. The story the analysis told about its lifespan also trumped many other things. Clark could only wonder how it even came to be.

'Spirit swallowtail butterfly- legendary

Living both within and without the actually physical body than other beasts have, this pure spiritual butterfly is lord of many other species of butterfly. This is because it is able to touch upon the soul of other beasts.

It can never form a bond with another due to it not necessarily always having a solid body. This causes it to break the bonds with a tamer and reforge them. It damages the soul of the tamer and the beast.

Known to watch the world with its calm gaze, it is a peaceful beast that will seek out places where it can live near other species of butterfly like beasts. It will often assist their growth, especially as caterpillars hatch from eggs. It is known to act in kind toward those that also help and treat the place it lives with respect.

This is the lord of the butterfly paradise. It is the very reason that multiple other legendary ranked butterfly beasts have been born and raised here. It may show itself to those that it decides are honest enough to roam the dungeon. It may also show itself as a reason to scare them off…'

Clark had lost the ability to read much more than this. The massive body that had appeared for a split second had disappeared. The nearly ethereal body had dwarfed every butterfly and himself. But the wings appeared to arch over the entire dungeon. Like an umbrella made to protect the beasts here.

His breath had also caught in his chest when he saw it. But he also felt that he had just seen a trick of the light. A beast that was not truly there, just part of his imagination. One thing he did know for sure though, that he had somehow been pushed back toward the center of the dungeon. The open field where the rest of the group was. He hadn't even noticed it.

"Clark, I saw it too. My spirit infant warned me and it looked at it before my spirit infant fell asleep." Ella had spotted Clark instantly. She moved nearby since she could tell from the look on his face that he had also seen the lord of this dungeon. The one in control of it.

"Yeah… I think it came to give us a look and tell me to head back here with all of you. I must have strayed too far from where it allowed us to be." or at least this was what Clark thought. He had not ruled that every single butterfly had just landed. Had stopped moving entirely. The dungeon had become completely still.

Even the balloon bees had somehow disappeared from the flowers that they had been feasting on moments ago.
