Chapter 635: Find A Butterfly

Chapter 635: Find A Butterfly

Splitting up was a nice release from the formation that they had been focused on the last few days. Especially since they all had their own desires to make the most fo this unique place. The butterfly paradise had proven to be a great way just to relieve their mental stress alone.

The very fact that many different kinds of energies were smooshed together here was exactly why this was a great place for all of them.

The group had multiple beasts each, even the individual beasts they had, were multiple energy type beasts. Grace had wind and ice, therefore, she was in an ideal place where she and the first finch could encounter both types of energy.

For her specifically, she was able to better understand the two energies within her body because of the smashed together nature of this dungeon.

The ice energies and the wind energies flowed freely. She could even vaguely sense the changes of water and ice energy between one another. A process that would normally be very hard to grasp except for a specific time of year or within certain environments. But it was happening here. There were even slight spots of steam which brought water to all three forms it could take.

Clark noticed this immediately. He could tell that she was able to mediate at a much better rate than normal. He also saw that the body of the frost finch had loosened slightly. Now that they were in a better place where they were at peace of mind, the two could focus on their bond. On the dangerous illness that Grace was rebelling against.

The frost finch was able to let loose some energy as well. To reabsorb some of the energies that it had condensed on its own ice body so that the wind and ice would be trapped instead of filtering in to Grace when she could not handle it all in her weakened state.

The same mentality of relaxing had apparently come to Maria as well. However, she was not doing so in the way that Clark had expected.

His thoughts had gone right to foraging for herbs when he thought of Maria. This was simply because she would need to get more that she could use to develop alchemy. Yet, when he looked to her, he found that she was beginning to focus on some alchemy, some potion making.

The cocoon the jade worm had made was sitting in a hot but also damp area where fire and water energies mixed. This allowed it to absorb that energy and boost its growth. Maria also took advantage of the small spot she had found.

The crimson grass that was there was covered in dew constantly. It had attracted her eyes at first because it might be an herb she could use. But now, she had set up a mortar and pestle to grind herbs she already had in to pastes.

From the books she had about alchemy, she had managed to learn that some herbs were better used in potions as pastes. It was also a very important step to incorporate some energy and other herbs in to one another. This step was why some salves were considered just as good for small injuries. Alchemists had to practice these steps first if they wished to be the best alchemists.

Hence why some ended up becoming dedicated herbalists instead.

While he wanted to ask her if she wanted him to find any herbs, he realized that he would not even have to try to do anything like that. Isa and Ella were already hard at work. Unlike Brad and Reese who had begun to focus on their own meditation as well, the two girls were entirely focused on herbs.

They each had a book with multiple pictures. Their goals were simple, find as many unique herbs that they could. Harvest as many herbs as possible. Ensure that they even discover some herbs that they might not necessarily know about or ever see in their life.

Feeling that he was going to be left behind like this, Clark started another round of analysis. But he had managed to be stopped right before he had started. Not because Jerold or Ralph had come with their own questions, but because the system had reacted.

'Quick quest- crystal butterfly

Requirement: witness the hatching of a crystal butterfly from its cocoon.

Reward: shed cocoon of the crystal butterfly, boosted analysis skill from the system.'

Now this was a little more than he expected. When he saw that he just needed to see the birth of a cocoon, he was sure that it would be a small quest to help it or to ensure it was safe. Yet, he also understood that the system limited itself in ways. He naturally did not get certain information. He had already seen this here and there where words did not come together to form, well, words at all.

Now, he realized that this beast being born might be an event that was entirely unique. So much so that it might be another mythical beast just like Devi was. Or it was slightly below and would be a legendary beast being born. If this was the case, it was still a potentially once in a life time event.

What he was unsure of, was what kind of beast this would be. He expected that it might just be another earth type beast since it could be crystal just like the perfect crystal golem who had found a nice spot to rest on a crystal like tree. But, this made him rethink. If it was just an earth type beast, then

The idea that the reward was something left behind by the crystal butterfly also surprised him. This beast might be unique, therefore, its shed cocoon could also be extremely unique. What properties would it have? Could it help Isa's wind caterpillar from a cocoon of its own? Or would it help Marias' jade moth develop within its cocoon and also break out?

His mind dwell on these points for a few moments.

However, he also wondered where this beast could be. Naturally, the entire place was full of cocoons. Some were vibrant colors while others blended in. even a few of the light elemental or darkness elemental energy related cocoons blended in to the light and shadows themselves. If Clark didn't have sharp eyes or the analysis, he would miss them every single time.

With his head full of these questions, Clark chose to explore the surrounding forest. It might not be a very large space, the paradise was small in general. However, he wanted to check the trees first, the best place to hide a unique existence would be there. Where the eye could not catch it right away.

He also noticed that Ralph had wandered to the edges of the trees and was smiley making a round trip along the border. "What did you manage to find? Anything good?"

"Nothing yet. I wanted to see what might be around here. The caterpillars are innocent enough, but they still hold dangers if they come out of the trees. Some have spikes or poisons. Some leave sharp metal shed skins too." Ralph had a collection of the shed skins in his hands. He could forge them, but also learn from them.

'Iron skin caterpillar- uncommon

The iron skin caterpillar uses fire and metal typing to create layers of skin to protect them from toxic fumes within their surrounding environment. White, normally living near volcanoes, they would come in to contact with these toxic fumes and liquids constantly.

Due to their unique elemental affinities, they can melt iron in their stomachs and spread it on their skin like a normal silk worm would silk to protect itself. However, their shed skins will be very useful to blacksmiths because of the unique way the iron they spit up cools…'

This was all the analysis that Clark needed to read to see why Ralph might need these. "I bet you can get a lot out of those shed skins. But you're right, if anyone steps on them or sits on them, they could get cut very badly." he knew that Ralph was checking the area out of caution. He worried that Grace might hurt herself accidentally even though it was a peaceful dungeon.

"I am going to head in to the trees a little bit. I know Jerold went off to try to track the butterflies. It's a good challenge for him. But I want to find something unique. There might be a cocoon for a crystal butterfly here. Something very rare.

It could be amazing to see."

While Ralph wasn't sure what it would be, he just nodded. His focus was elsewhere, but Clark knew that Ralph would keep an eye out. He trusted that Clark's words would be true and beneficial to the entire group. It was proven time and time again. Not to mention, that Clark had a knack for finding useful things whenever he wandered off. He wondered adjust what Clark might come back with.
