Chapter 629: Back To The Jungle
Chapter 629: Back To The Jungle
'The gachas are spinning…'
Clark saw that they were able to focus on herbs and any other materials that might be laying around here and there. Specifically, materials that they could use for Ralph to forge something new.
But the focus was herbs. That's why Clark was so happy to watch the herb gacha spin. He could easily say that found the herbs here and there along the frozen ground. Especially now since the dungeon was gradually changing. Snow was falling from trees and trees were even falling themselves.
The exposure of the dead trees to the open air was a first for them. Many rare herbs or potion materials were molds, mushrooms, or even tree bark from the inside layers of long dead trees. They just didn't grow or become useful until the trees had died and the items in question had begun to grow or dry.
'Sleet leaf- rare
The sleet leaf is a unique planet that only grows during the coldest nights within a desert. It has incredibly dormant potential. It can remain as a dried up seed for years waiting for the night temperature to reach the coldest. At this time, when frozen rain falls, it will sprout, grow, and flower within minutes. Before the cold sleet stops, it will perish.
The unique ice energy within it is incredibly potent but also very useful. It can help the balance of ice energy within the body and bond between beast and tamer. This is due to the fact that the sleet leaf always must control its internal ice energy against the stroking heat of the desert.
Some alchemists will spend years to find these seeds so that they can grow even one of these within their alchemy lab. It requires very specific conditions which is why the price is high for the herb. The flow might not hold any useful oils, but the leaves do.'
The first herb was very amazing. A rare herb that specifically could help a beast and tamer manage the sharing of ice energy between them.
'Spearmint sprout- common
The spearmint plant is a plant that gives the impression of cold. It is able to make a tiny amount of water energy gather around it and cool itself. Therefore, when it is consumed, this happens again. This is due to the need to control itself in the hottest seasons.
The small amount of ice energy is temporary, however, it can allow for a tamer or a beast that requires the experience of gathering ice energy from water energy the feeling. It will greatly assist in the education of the beast and tamer. Some beasts even require large amounts of spearmint sprouts to be able to grasp unique skills.'
While this was not a rare herb, it made a lot of sense. Clark had even heard of beasts eating it to awaken their dormant ice energy affinities. Even some beasts ate it every day because it was just a general favorite food. The chilling feeling even allowed ice type beasts to feel more relaxed in the warmer climates as they traveled.
The wind herbs were up next. Clark was eager to see what he would get this time. He had already seen two decent rewards that could help a lot with what they needed for Grace. The more they could get, the better.
'Bristling pine needles- uncommon
These pine needles come from a bristling pine. It gets this name because the needles that it grows become very sharp when agitated by the strong winds on the mountains they grow. They will become very soft and relaxed when they are in still weather without any wind.
They are often used for making a unique tea that refreshes the energy of wind type beasts. This is due to the calm and wind energy within them. However, if they are made over very high heat, the opposite is possible. The wind energy will become more violent and potentially cause harm.
Due to this, some tamers will need to study them carefully or have the tea prepared by an alchemist with a dedicated fire type beast or high training. It is ideal for beasts with wind affinities or for a tamer that is suffering from a wind related disease or illness. Some will even treat wind energy related injuries with this to help them heal and remove violent wind energies from their wounds.'
While this herb came with risks, it perfectly matched what Calkr thought of wind as a whole. It could be very useful or very dangerous. But for someone like Grace and the frost finch, this was manageable.
The two of them could handle the more dangerous wind energies because they already handled it before. But this would be more beneficial to calm the wind energy within Grace's body on an every day basis. Especially since the needles were enough to fit a small pouch. It meant that they could make small amounts of tea consistently while they traveled.
'Rolling mushroom- ultra rare
The rolling mushroom is something known to only form on clouds. Something considered to be impossible. However, its extremely light mushroom fiber allows it to float within the wind and use the moisture within a cloud as a root base.
It contains the consistent of steady energy from the wind that allows it to roll through the sky and eventually fall to the ground where it is known to roll down mountains. By consuming it, a beast can enhance its bond with a tamer if they share wind type energy. It is known for stabilizing the wind energy within their bond. Smoothing it out in to a more consistent flow.
It is also used in alchemy to make a potion that contains potent wind energy. The wind doping potion requires this rolling mushroom to be able to concentrate stronger wind energies within the potion. The wind doping potion causes a large burst of controlled wind energy within a beast for a single powerful but exhausting attack…'
The last item he won from the gacha was enough to slightly shock Clark. He had never heard of a wind doping potion before. Yet, he could understand what it was the moment that he read the analysis of the rolling mushroom.
Another good herb that he snuck in to what he was saying he found. The others were picking smaller herbs that were mostly dried up or frozen. They would all lose their usefulness at some point more or less. For the most part, this was not a place full of mystical materials and herbs. The beasts were weak too.
"We should be getting close to the end of all this. A forgotten dungeon that will return to whatever it was before it existed I guess." Clark left this out loud for the slight breeze to take.
There wasn't much to say other than that. The group had done their own form of training here. It had been enough that they had not needed to worry about the added risks of the violent jungle for some time. It was also clear that grace had actually improved while they moved around.
The warmth form the dragon welp carrying her had helped her regulate her body temperature. Align with this, she had been able to keep from moving which was part of how she was able to focus on her own internal energies instead of movements.
"Good, I wasn't happy staying in the cold anyways." Ralph grumbled since he knew the ice and wind was an issue for Grace right now. But he was just like the others, happy to be out of the humid mists of the violent jungle.
"There were plenty of benefits when we came here. We Should have been able to adjust in the jungle to this new arrangement. But since we had some practice first, we should be much better." Maria's upbeat attitude was enough to make them all feel that they were much more prepared.
The slower pace had also allowed everyone some form of rest. They had greatly grown used to more pressure and harsher conditions. This was basically just a slow walk compared to everything they had done lately.
But as they stepped through the dungeon entrance, they all noticed the odd black that took over the edges of their vision. The dungeon had collapsed leaving nothing behind. Instead, the dungeon that should have been there was now left as it should be. Clark knew that the key and that dungeon would never exist again.
Ignoring the odd sensation, the group just expected that this was just how this dungeon was. Regardless, Clark took the lead with the map back in hand. Everyone knew that they still had a long way to go. Their journey out of the violent jungle would take them through multiple dangerous areas before they headed up toward the forests that they were used to.
The group also had another dungeon that was on their list to stop at. one that would have multiple materials that they could go to. It also had multiple smaller dungeons around it. It was a very large hub for tamers of all ages.
