Chapter 630: Alchemy Find

Chapter 630: Alchemy Find

"We are following the river? The place filled with large monsters that want to eat and tear us apart?" Reese was sure that everyone was getting together to mess with him when he heard what Clark said about the route that they were following.

"I mean, it would be fine if we were just going to take the long way around, but following the river sounds like it would be the worst possible thing to do." The entire group had agreed leaving Reese as the only one that was wondering what the deal was.

"We are taking this path because its' the known path. If we head through the long way round, we will pass through this area." Ella had the map in her hands right now. She had taken it from Clark to refresh her memory.

"This is called the bomb tree grove, it is a line of trees that have spikes on them. It got the name because the fruits are covered in sharp spikes that explode when they fall. It is because of the fire energy that the tree gathers at the canopy, then sends to the fruits. It is how the seeds get further from the tree and grow. If we walk through there, all of the beasts are highly defensive.

That makes them much harder to fight."

This made a lot of sense. A dangerous beast that was able to take a hit meant that grace would be a sitting duck if the group could not wield proper strength to kill them. It also was a challenge that was avoidable. The group was very strong, but they could not say that they would easily be able to handle the dangers that came with this jungle.

The deep wilderness was scarier than what they had seen so far.

"Then this place here, is called the rampaging elephant territory. While they are similar to the savannah red elephants that you might have seen or heard of, they are very different. These are called rampaging because they hate seeing other beasts anywhere near them." Ella didn't even need to say more.

The large size of the red savannah elephants were well known. But they were kind beasts. They were beasts known for saving other beasts if they were hurt. Charging to defend weaker beasts from predators due to their tough skin and generally large strength.

However, if they were on a rampage, they would be a nearly impossible to stop force. One that could easily crush trees and break bones. Especially if there was more force and rage within it. Everyone shivered slightly imagining the fact that anger that brought such a beat to rampage would definitely lead to destruction. Basically, they sounded like the embodiment of wrath.

"So, would you like to go with the dangers that we know along the river? Beasts that we can use the terrain against to fight them? Or would you prefer that we try and cut through one of these two territories? One that has terrain that will fight us as much as the beasts or one that will literally have beasts that attack us regardless of our actions?"

This was it. The decision was made and the group had begun moving along the river. Notably, Reese looked a little happier now that he understood that they were actually somewhat safer by going this route. He was unsure how strong he was compared to a beast with true defensive power. Especially since he could channel a lot of the sword aura skills in to his partner and his actions.

Yet, he had not tried to fight anything stronger just yet.

"What about other beasts, should we be afraid of more of those anacondas?" Reese was still trying to be proactive. He was certain that they might be able to see them. He also wanted to make sure he was taking the right lead in protecting Grace. When he worked with Brad, the two were the perfect pair of defender and attacker. He found that team work really shined in this escort format.

"I would say that the brutal crocodiles might not be the worst that we could face. The river here is home to many other beasts. But the hippos, the white hippos are the most dangerous." Clark had outlined what he would and would not like to face here.

In this thought process, the giant white hippos were the most dangerous that they could face. Not only because they could move quickly through the water, but because of their aggressive nature. They enjoyed fighting a lot.

From that knowledge, he also had learned further that they had powerful jaws with four major teeth made to puncture defenses. It meant that defending against them would be unwise. They were also stronger, therefore, they would be harder to face in the essence of tough skin and bones.

That aside, Clark was impressed with how well everyone was doing. They would all adjust themselves depending one where someone would move. Every step was adjusted and seen by the group as a whole. This was a testament of their flexible mentality. Their ability to adjust themselves so that they could defend something they cared for.

The difference between an individual battle mentality and group mentality was striking. The group had fought, but they had not cooperate as much as they had been before. The only two that truly teamed up consistently were Reese and Brad.

'Twisted raspberry- uncommon

The twisted raspberry is a fruit bush that grows in humid areas. It enjoys the constant mists that allow it to open its leaves and grow larger fruit. It contains some potent earth energy and water energies that are ideal for making beasts potions that allow them to temporarily increase their energy gathering ability.

When used to make an earth related potion, it is considered a higher quality ingredient. When used in a water related potion, it is considered a common ingredient since it is not the rarest or the best option. However, it is a good supplement to a water type beasts diet…'

Clark spotted the red gem like fruit out of the corner of his eye. The change in terrain allowed there to be fewer trees around, the river naturally eroded the soil and made them fall over time. It left a lot of room for bushes like the twisted raspberry bushes to grow. Their twisted spiny branches could easily grow as they wanted without being impeded.

"Try to pick these twisted raspberries. They are good for earth energy gathering potions and water energy gathering potions. But they can also be fed to beasts that have a water type affinity to add a little extra water energy to their diets." Clark speaking up was always enough to make the group move. But Ella and Isa were the most excited to grab them. Maria held herself back.

She had the knowledge to hold herself in place while the two others gathered more fruits. This way, she could keep Grace safer. This was also the very same change in mentality that Clark had noticed earlier. "I can try to make those potions. The formulas are widely known for any potion that enhances the gathering of energies. But they are harder to make depending on the quality of the potion."

This comment made the group realize that holding off on alchemy was a very bad thing. "Maria, we need to get your little partner to break out of its cocoon much sooner. What can i help you with." Isa was sure that selling better energy gathering potions would yield a major amount of gold coins for their group. It would be a major way to boost her sales.

"I can make them, but I think that they will be pretty useless for us. We need to be able to use them when we feed our beasts better materials, right? Then why would we need them when we have made so much progress without them?" Jerold's opinion was not wrong.

"While we have grown a lot without the additional potions, these will be able to help our beasts recover after battles. Not just in general. I would like high quality ones to allow my own body to adjust better though." Ellas' thoughts were more focused on the benefits that these sorts of potions could give a tamer.

"Really? I thought they had to be adjusted for a tamer to consume them?" Isa had a different bit of knowledge than Ella.

"Yes, you would be correct. However, we have trained our bodies enough to handle the minute amounts of poisons that most young tamers would suffer from. We also have an alchemist in training that will develop potions to assist in negative side effects of this training method. I have such potion formulas saved within my journals already.

I just put that training off due to the need for the potions to be made fresh. That has changed now."

With this, the entire group had some new things to think about while they kept themselves alert. The sound of the river had also begun to pick up. There were rapids ahead.
